Why no one else doing clones

Outdoor grower here. Grew my first weed from seed in the 70s. I have to say seed sources have really gotten better. My first trial was with seeds from a cheap brick of Mexican. Now, really great stuff is just an internet click away.

Fast forward 50 years and I tried clones this season. I WILL NEVER GO BACK.

The clones are 100% uniform - the identical same top end stuff on EVERY plant..

Clones are WAY faster, consider all the time it take to grow one plant 12" high.

Because they are faster, one has time to make clones of clones.

Now clones of clones are cheaper than seed, at least for this outdoor grower..

All the clones I've tried didn't adapt well to daylight cycle, even with a few weeks of timed lamps to ween them off of the 18 hours of light. They always end up flowering early.

Only clone the good ones, I am 12/12 regular. Finding the "one" is tedious. Plus I like verity, so in my case I want 4 Golden goose.

Pretty much all commercial clones are under 18 or 24hr light. So if you’re growing outdoors you have to wait until June to buy the clone and not really gaining any extra time. And if you buy regular seeds you can make hundreds or thousands of more seeds. Nothing wrong with clones. When they were $12 a pop from the local dispensary we bought them all the time. But in general they make more sense indoors.

I got a bit of variety, Blueberry Hashplant, Mother's Milk, Gelato 33, GDP and a Cherry Wine hemp plant😁

Gotta keep the keepers n clone away then pop the beans to find more keepers!! Wish I had the space to pop every pack of seeds im holding all at once and pick only the KEEPERS

For sure clones are cut from plants used to 18hr on, warm,humid. You got to keep them that way or they will shock out of the vegetative state. I got three mother plants March 15 and kept them under two 500 watt HID grow lights in a four by six foot grow box in the basement. In mid April, chopped these plants up into 30 babies and rooted them using root hormone and kept them in a grow dome two weeks. Weaned them out of the super high humid dome and into the grow box until May 15.

The babies went outside but under wall-o-water tomato protectors until they grew out of them about June 1. Grew them outside just like any prize tomato plant till October.

So, yep, you got to be on top your horticulture to get the most out of clones.

how much faster are they you still have to spend time on a mother to create them and then spend time for them to push out roots.
but i think biggest problem is most people have plant count problems.and a clone will allways be the same with seeds you have a chance to get something new and exciting

Getting a clone from a known grower is the best way to go. Commercial grows don't care, the clone is probably stressed out long before you get it. Then it herm's out. Then the sense is gone.
I hash 60% of my crop anyway, I think having a crop seeded takes away from the potential of the smoke.

The biggest problem with clones is the introduction of pests. Worst spider mite issue I ever had was from a clone.

We prefer a lower effort system. I have had the best luck with seeds. I sprout a dozen. The strongest three females go in the ground when it's time.

My take on this first of all is that you should be growing mother plants from seeds to take clones from those. Don’t take clones from a clone as it weakens the genetics which includes lesser yield and potency because it’s a copy of a copy

Are clones really quicker than seed as the time taken to cut root and get new growth seems slower than germination and subsequent growth 🌲🌲🌲
