Hello 420 friends,

for the first time cannabis is about to be legal where I live, so I shall also be growing some. I have a relatively large southeast facing window that receives plenty of sun, in a northern European country. I plan on planting 6 plants and using supplemental lighting. I shall use 2 rectangular growbags, each 30cmx60cm in size. Each shall contain 3 plants. I shall be mixing my own organic soil. I am basically hanging one lightbulb over each growbag, that is a growlight that shines whitish looking light. I have attached an image of which light I want to use. I am interested in keeping everything as sustainable as possible. This means maintaining a short light schedule to save on electricity costs and if possible avoiding using autoflowers, in order to be able to clone. Not sure how best to tackle this. Initially I thought of using autoflowers and running the lights for 4 hours around midday. But it would be cool to be able to clone and force flower the crop at will.

Please hit me up with criticism and any ideas that could help. Also I would like to harvest my first crop soonish. I do not want to only be able to harvest once a year and preferably grow all year round.

ps. I already own the lights.

thanks

Hey dude.
what you are describing with the gear you propose is impossible.

let’s start with the 3 plants in one bag, it will be very tight to have 10cm between each plant they will out grow that little area very quickly.
secondly 150 watt single bulb is not enough for three plants. You will get all sorts of leaning and stretch trying to reach that tiny light.

You will have to do some reflecting what do you want? Do you want a hobby grow that may or may not produce any yield of merit but teaches you a good amount about how cannabis grows as a plant? Or do you want to grow cannabis in a manner that produces volume and supplements / provides entirely for your smoking intake? Either of these options is fine and both are fraught with many mistakes and learning moments. Google will be your best friend, research is key.

what you are currently describing, 6 plants in a window with two 150watts running part of the time is a hobby grow that may or may not produce yield. I know it’s how I started, and the results were disappointing. Except in my case, I had one box one light three plants and wire fence to keep the cats out. maybe grew 5 grams at best of stringy unhappy bud in all.

it sounds your ambition of cloning and growing and having fast multiple crops a year is also a little askew for the set up proposed. Grow time is unfortunately a reality, the fastest I can get from seed to jarred and smokable product is about 120-160 days (for photo period depending on strain). You can have a perpetual garden (pg) going (all life cycles at once clones, vegging, and blooming) this allows for harvests every 30-40 days; however you do need to have three separate Chambers for each life cycle of plant all burning electricity. It also takes a while to get the PG up and running. You start seeds, send after 30 days send to be vegged, after 60 clone them, after 80 flip to bloom then 80 days of the bloom cycle. But those first clones then become your next vegg plants and so on down the line. All plants in their own rooms / tents / separate areas. Remember each light stage has DIFFERENT light requirements.

which brings me to the final issue. Growing pot takes power. Sad but true, you want big fat juicy nugs you go to use the giant helium fire in the sky or electric ⚡️ powered lighting. I average 50-80 euro a month for the 6 months of the year I grow indoors. But it would cost me 100+ euro for 12 months a year if I bought Piff on the black market or at the dispensary. So I’m saving half.

good luck man, tell us what you decide.

ok so maybe autoflower will be easier and less work. buying seeds in bulk seems to be pretty cheap also. the things is that i want to incorporate the natural sun light. the window receives the majority of the days sun. since it is in the top floor and southeast. many other individuals seem to have success growing just once a year on balconies having the same southeast orientation. so i thought that supplementing with this light would help improve the situation in the other times of the year and make everything a little more flexible and productive without killing the vibe in the room. i would be using growbags which would have an airppruning effect. each plant would have a total of 30x20cm area to grow, which is definitely not alot, but i thought it might have had been enough. i’m not a heavy smoker, more occasional. I would be happy to have 15g harvest a plant.

do it right or not at all., if you had a few years experience growing successfully than you could probably do it, but with no experience, it’ll be a waste of time and money..
