Ouch! Man, I'm prayin for all you guys out there East of the Rockies. This is some messed up weather. Other that being a very long run, the heat here in the NorCal Sierras isn't very much hotter than the average year. It's not fun but still very tolerable. The Sacramento valley is getting it's a$$ kicked but we don't generally have the high humidity that turns an uncomfortably hot day into a full on nightmare.

We at least generally have really low humidity, it shows high in that pic but I left the monitor in the GH for a bit before taking that pic, and the humidity on the outside doesn’t work. Really should grab a new one.

Dude, do you have peripheral nueropathy? Your finger tips look a lot like mine. Mine is caused by RSDS (Reflex Sympathetic Distrophy Syndrome). Seriously painful sh*t.

No (I don’t think) my hands just get chewed up in the summer fishing and being outdoors all the time, especially my thumb, is most always cracked.

Thanks, fishing is one of my great passions, got out yesterday and bagged a few more cutties from a local high altitude impoundment.

I am going to give breeding a go and keep the Stardawg male and cross it back with the Stardawg female for next years crop. In the name of science of course.

Wow, that's pretty country.

I'd breed but don't have the room. I want to use small females for breeding instead of trying to branch breed on the ones I'm growing for smoke (I've read it brings down potency, but I don'tknow for sure). I'll need to dedicate at least one whole tent to it. Still not sure what precautions I need to take to keep the pollen confined to the breeding tent(s). If you do it I'll be paying close attention.

Made some updates to the Gh last night, put the bigger from seed girls that are in the 15g in the back, elevated on an old door and cinder blocks, the draped the white plastic over the back wall and under the pots. Then put the 9#s in front. The goal here was to get the 9#s some more light as the seed crop were starting to block some light, also the 10g are lighter and easier to move around to get to the back row, as well as reflecting light back to the plants and keeping things cooler at the same time.

Scattered in are the last of the seedlings in 2g, one that has shown sex yet and the Stardawg male tucked in the back corner. I had also totally forgotten about one of the seedlings that has been chugging along . . . in one of the tomato pots lol. It was the worst looking of the batch and showing signs of defriciency or bugs so I quarantined it to the patio, where it got chewed on by something down to the nubs. It was in a solo cup, so I just left it out there for a bit and it came back a bit so I planted it under one of the tomatoes for science purposes. It is actually doing pretty good, but hella small, I’ll leave it there until it shows sex then decide what its fate will be.

The 9#s are finally starting to take off, not sure what to expect from them yet, they are super lanky and very sparsely leafed, hopefully they explode now that the temps are under control, out of the 100 everyday weather pattern with high 80s and afternoon storms for the past 5 days, with more in the forecast.

We found that weather you lost, low 100's the next 5 days. I'm glad you finally got into some nice weather again.

Few more changes to the garden, culled a few more males, down to 3 of the 9 beans I popped as female, as well as the little guy in the tomato lol, interested to see what happens with that guy. One Stardawg and two mob boss mutts.

With the removal of the last two males, I had some open seats so transplanted one of the 9#s to a vacant 15g, and took the 10g of soil that it was in and split it into 3 x 3g and adopted 3 purple trainwrecks for them! Excited to add some wreck to the mix, one of my favorite strains.

Anytime now,those sacks at bottom of pic that are kinda flopping downwards means they are about to open and drop some pollen.

Thanks, so what is the best procedure for capturing the pollen? Take him out of the greenhouse and wrap a bag around the branches?

I wouldn't have a male that far along anywhere near my greenhouse.

Cannabis Encyclopedia says to set up small aluminum foil plates to collect pollen an jiggle branches so pollen falls on plates. (Seems awful exposed to me but I'm no expert. My guess is wrapping a bag would work too but don't know if that technique has issues I'm not aware of.

To pollinate females, a little pollen on your finger will be enough to pollinate a female flower. Or put pollen in a plastic bag and cover a female branch, tie the bag at the end around the stem so none escapes then gently shake the bag. Leave the bag on for 2 days and nights to ensure pollination. Best pollination is 3-5 weeks after first female flowers show. Pollenated branches should be left to grow for a week 6-8 weeks or a week or two after sensi branches are harvested.

Careful, pollen can easily become airborne and ruin your flowers as well as anyone around you. Fans or a slight breeze can spread enough grains to wreck any sensi close by.

So you know, I've never done this myself. Am only reading it right now. This is nowhere near everything you should know and there's way more info in the book including proper precautions, but I hope this answers some questions.

Outside is not a safe place to keep him. He can pollinate everyone around you and your grow for a good distance. Inside under a light maybe. It's why I haven't done this yet.
