well i still am having a hard time beliving this has happened to me ,i have had some really hard finacial times this past two years ,well a realitive has passed on and aaand i was named in the will ,i got a key to a safe deposit box ,had no clue what was in it . ...well i got to the back and get in to this thing ,as soon as i opened it up my jaw hit the table ,its full of cash alot of cash and a letter telling me where the cash came from and why it was left to me ,as repayment to my long dead dad ,but here is one of the weard things its old money like the newest bills are 1970 sieres 100s and 20 s the oldest being from the 50s it looks funny ,compared to the new stuff ,its all banded and in consective numbers ,and looks brand new ,the realitive ,that it came from ,did 5 years hard time in the early 60s for robbing an armored car !i did not know this until yesterday ,and there is no one to ask questions about the cash ,i did not pull it all out just one bundle of 100s to show my wife ,in the letter he says he was glad it went to me and that no one knows of it or the box where it is kept ,i think the money may actully be worth more than face value due to its age and condition,well the short of it is i now c an buy all the cali gear i want ,no more horse traden ,and beggin for some f2s ,my ship has arrived ,thanks dad

i cant say id be worried about that...id be concerned tho........ id only spend a lil at a time to see if those numbers on the bills come back to that theft......and if they DO get a "hit" on it....or can trace it, somehow (youd be surprised)....they WILL come after it.

I'm sure you'll hear this story a hundred times, but that's because it really happens all too often.

An acquaintance of mine grew up poor in a poor town, went to work in construction just like Dad. He's getting by and life is OK -- then he wins about $700K in the lottery. Now life is good! He spent about $150k on a big twin big-block boat, another $50k - $100k in cars and toys, and just to stay responsible about $100k for a dump truck and backhoe (for the business, man! It's deductible!).

Of course, it was all good for about the first year or two. Then he began hanging out in the boat at the dock, couldn't keep paying those $1000 fuel bills. Sold the boat for pennies on the dollar to pay his mortgage the next year (mortgage? wtf?).

Anyway, now he hassles me to be paid immediately for small $100 - $300 jobs, and is dirt poor. Oh, and he still has the mortgage...

Moral of the story? Don't f@#k it up, man! I would be investing in real estate and a no-brainer capital-intensive business, like owning a franchise fast-food joint.

Not having done it myself, of course, how would one wash a lot of cash like this? Buy gold, precious metals, coins, etc?

-expensive
-portable
-expensive
-easy to re-sell, with a known difference between buy and sell price
-available to purchase in person with cash
