Everytime you cut on it, youd better sterilize whatever it is youre cutting the plants with, because this shit is extremely contagious. Even if you touch one infected plant and then touch another, you can infect the plant that doesnt have it.
Think of it as the plague. And it starts in the growing tips. Sometimes they grow out of it. In my experience, most of the time it is doon for the plant.

Well I'm about to find out - just brought 4 semi affected moms inside a few days ago next to 30 in veg, tonight trimmed off the top 5-6" of ~10 plants, cloned, trimmed back. Started with clean scissors but it's a stress test she shed always has been

Hey.. one question are u growing outside? Because I kid u not ALL5 of my plants had this crap also.. just in the growing tops... I'm pretty sure it's a fiorm of botrytis.. black spot mold.. no b. S. When I saw your pic. That's exactly what mine looked like at, but as they have started to bud , they have not been so susceptible.. how by I fixed it was by going over every leaf and top and if u see it. Cut it out.. I probably threw out a quarter on Each plant.. I still find the inner branch tops infected sometimes... I put a big fan outside in my garden and I also used pure crop one

Yea - only outdoor.
Is the pure crop 1 working? Or are you already using that in your ipm

Ya know I can't tell if it's the p. C. 1 working or there just growing out of it... I use p. C. 1 from start to finish.. also put it in the water 3 tablespoons per 5 gallon bucket... But I saved all of em.. probably a combination of all my efforts.. If u figure it out. I would love to know what this crap is

Cool glad you got past it. Mine hit the brakes here, as well. I brought a few affected plants indoors 10 days ago to reveg, mixed with other plants, shared scissors, and they are completely growing out of it. The new growth is healthy and green. Bad news is I'm now researching septoria and/or cercospora type leaf infections. Strangely enough, the cercospora leaf spot that I picked up outdoors is a fungus that causes leaf blight and purple seed stain in soybeans...

Anyone still dealing with this issue? We still are and have been for at least 5 years. Ive posted in this forum, and other forums. Im convinced its leaf hoppers, and is a phytoplasma virus. Its not ph and isnt a phosphorus deficiency.

Exactly James... Some of my earlier pics listed the same look as your's it's middle August. And there all starting to pre flower.. looks like all but one is growing out of it . Gotta say that if you got your grow dialed in and plants are healthy,. It minimizes the black sprouts. but I can't help but think that it saos the plants strength in some way.. they just don't look as vibrant as tvey should

Same here - only on outdoor. Implying the presence of something only outdoor, or airborne at the least. I heard the answer on a podcast a few years ago but cannot remember. They argued against the regular expression of purple, because it is different. so Someone out there knows
I can't even say the strain matters, nor the location / hrs. of sunlight / etc.
Have you successfully stopped it?
Sometimes I see the bud grow out of it for a day (new growth of bud unaffected) by next become covered

Wildtype, yeah. I'm pretty certain it's some virus the vector being thrips or leafhoppers,, it's just not feasible to kill all of em,, but i saw an interesting solution from Arbico Organics,, tgey have beneficial insects. Nematodes, and a whole bunch of other predator insects that kill thrips, etc. My grow is small outdoor,, and it might be cost effective to try these., Right now today I just came in from grow and they seem to be outgrowing this plague.. but I know that all of the plants have been infected,, leaving them open to an increased chanceof botrytis in October before harvest

I have had this problem as well I believe it to be a hemp fungus in the soil talked to one guy that overcome it by using sulfur tilled into the soil very aggressively. I overcame it by not planting in the same area for about 4 years. I had it at least 4 or 5 years in a row until I stopped planting in the same area and had very dry summers. I used this spot since the 90s until one year there it was. I think it is similar to problems you can get in a garden from not rotating crops. My plants would grow fine until mid summer then the purple color would start in the new shoots only and get worse all summer you get no healthy flowers, you can grow a huge plant but no flowers, and once in the plant always in the plant if you takes clones from an infected plant the disease goes with it. I can now grow my area no problem as of 2023. This problem is spreading all over few are aware of what is happening most think they seeing a purple strain not what it is.

hey GREEN:hunter:
perfect pics of PHOSPHORUS LOCK OUT....

When your plants are deficient in phosphorus, this can overall reduce the size of your plants. Not enough causes slow growth and causes the plant to become weak, to little amount of Phosphorus causes slow growths in leaves that may or may not drop off. The edges all around the leaves or half of the leaves can be brownish and work its way inwards a bit causing the part of the leaves to curl up in the air a bit. Fan leaves will show dark greenish/purplish and yellowish tones along with a dullish blue color to them. Sometimes the stems can be red, along with red petioles that can happen when having a Phosphorus deficiency. This isn’t a sure sure sign of you having one though, but can be a sign. Some strains just show the red petioles and stems from its genes.
So pretty much the overall dark green color with a purple, red, or blue tint to the fan leaves is a good sign of a Phosphorus deficiency. Having Cold weather (below 50F/10C) can make phosphorous absorption very troublesome for plants.
Many people get a Phosphorus deficiency confused with a fungus problem because the ends of the leaves look like a fungus problem, But the damage occurs at the end of the leaves. side of the leaves and has a glass like feeling to it as if it had a ph problem. Parts affected by a phosphorus deficiency are: Older Leaves, Whole plant, Petioles.

Too much Phosphorus levels affect plant growth by suppressing the uptake of: Iron, potassium and Zinc, potentially causing deficiency symptoms of these nutrients to occur def in plants. A Zinc deficiency is most common under excessive phosphorus conditions,
As well as causing other nutrients to have absorption troubles like zinc and copper. Phosphorus fluctuates when concentrated and combined with calcium

Problems with Phosphorus being locked out by PH troubles
Cold wet soils, acid or very alkaline soils, compacted soil.

Soil

Phosphorus gets locked out of soil growing at ph levels of 4.0-5.5
Phosphorus is absorbed best in soil at a ph level of 6.0-7.5 (wouldn’t recommend having a ph of over 7.0 in soil) Anything out of the ranges listed will contribute to a Phosphorus deficiency.

Hydro and Soil less Mediums

Phosphorus gets locked out of Hydro and Soil less Mediums at ph levels of 6.0-8.5.
Phosphorus is absorbed best in Hydro and Soil less Mediums at ph levels of 4.0- 5.8. (Wouldn’t recommend having a ph over 6.5 in hydro and soil less mediums.) Best range for hydro and soil less mediums is 5.0 to 6.0. Anything out of the ranges listed will contribute to a Phosphorus Deficiency.

Solution to fixing a Phosphorus deficiency
Some deficiency during flowering is normal, but too much shouldn't be tolerated. Any chemical or organic fertilizers that have Phosphorus in them will fix a Phosphorus deficiency. If you have a phosphorus deficiency you should use any N-P-K ratio that is over 5.Again Peters all purpose 20-20-20 is a good mix. Miracle grow Tomato plant food, Miracle grow All purpose plant food (Only mixing at ½ strength when using chemical nutrients, or it will cause nutrient burn!) Other forms of phosphorus supplements are: Bone meal, which is gradual absorption, I suggest making it into a tea for faster use, where bone/blood meal is slow acting, but when made into a tea it works quicker! Fruit eating bat guano, which is fast absorption, Worm castings, which is gradual absorption, Fish meal, which is medium absorption, Soft Rock Phosphate, which is medium absorption, Jamaican or Indonesian Guano, which is fast absorption. Crabshell, which is slow absorption. Tiger Bloom , which is fast absorption.

Here is a list of things to help fix a Phosphrus Deficiency.

Chemical

Advanced nutrients Bloom (0-5-4)
Vita Bloom (0-7-5)
BC Bloom (1.1-4.4-7)
GH Flora Bloom (0-5-4)
GH Maxi Bloom (5-15-14)
GH Floranova Bloom (4-8-7)
Dyna-Gro Bloom (3-12-6)
Fox Farm Tiger Bloom (2-8-4)
Awsome Blossums

Organic

Dr. Hornby's Iguana Juice Bloom (4-3-6)
Advanced Nutrients Mother Earth Bloom (.5-1.5-2)
Fox Farm Big Bloom (.01-.3-.7)
Earth Juice Bloom (0-3-1)
Pure Blend Bloom (2.5-2-5)
Pure Blend Pro Bloom (2.5-2-5)
Buddswell (0-7-0)
Sea Island Jamaican Bat Guano (1-10-0)
Indonesian Bat Guano (0-13-0)
Rainbow Mix Bloom (1-9-2)
Earth Juice Bloom (0-3-1)
BIO BLOOM (2-6-3.5)
AGE OLD BLOOM (5-10-5)

Hemp fungus not phos lockout been through this already, I stopped planting in my spot for 4 years to get rid of it or till in sulfur as much as possible. Only know one guy that fixed this with aggressive sulfur application only affects new shoots mid summer to harvest you will not get flowers once you have this once in the plant clones are infected as well this is spreading across the country. this is not purple from your purple phenos I can finally grow my spot again after 5 years no plants there. west central Minnesota area seen it in the eastern states as well.

I had it once a few years ago and it grew out of it. Now I just had it in 1 of 2 plants in rdwc. Never in soil.
I thought it was just the strain but found out it’s not. When I noticed it this time that plant wasn’t growing as well as other and a little smaller weaker looking. A couple days later I started getting some light yellow spots and tiny white dots so sprayed thinking carried a bug in. Next day both plants didn’t look right some wilting and the one with purple had round yellow spots so I scoped them and it was leaf septoria. So only thing I can figure is that purple stuff had something to do with it all. Sure was a pita. Had to break everything down and thoroughly clean. I took 2 cuts and are in same cloner but so far the one that didn’t have any purple is physically fine looking. I took them a couple weeks before anything happened but there still going in can. Just wanted to see if other cut got the purple so far no go.

Hello, looking at the same issue for the last few years, going to change location next year. I think wet soil contributes to the blight as I use drip irrigation in my garden. I don't think it's a nutrient problem, it's in the air or from insects spreading pathogens. Gonna let them dry out some and cut out the bad spots. Also will spray with Pure Crop 1.

Yes, fungus, will change my location next year. Wet soil can exacerbate I'm told.
