Try adding a zero and you're getting closer. Here is the top 1%: http://www.forbes.com/forbes-400/

The 400 People on that list have a combined income equal to 50% of America's total wealth. It's obscene.

Thanks for proving my point dennmark is a "constitutional monarchy" and not socialist just curious how long ago did you live in denmark?

It's also a democracy that has socialist policies... they do have a monarchy, but like Great Britain, the royal family is just a figurehead and they elect the actual leaders.

I split time between here and DK for a couple years starting maybe 4 years ago. So I've been there, Germany and a few other countries in Europe pretty recently. I love European women...

They are capitalist and are very much proof that capitalism works. They also opted out of certain elements of the European Union's Maastricht Treaty, specifically the "European Economic" and "Monetary Union" (EMU) the socialist programs that are doing france and spain ect.. so well.

Would you please explain their tax codes how heavily are the big corporations taxed ect.. ?

100000% agree with you on european women they are hot (at least the ones that shave their legs lol). My uncle was based in germany for 8 years another friend for 4 years , my other uncle worked for 4 years in scotland 10 years in polland and has a polish wife and alot of family their.

One more question how much should a person be allowed to make? and who is going to decide?

Hmmmm.
Deep question young grasshopper.

And what motivates people to make money, and why should they be forced to spend it in certain ways?
Isn't that why technology developed in the first place? I mean the first caveman to get a BBQ going must have had all the hairy European bitches sucking on his knob.

In the end aren't there some people that are bad with money (looks in mirror). And the Govt seems to be just as proficient at it as I am. I'd rather sit on a street corner begging for money to get a loaf of bread, than wait in a fucking line, probably faster to beg.

Probably the best thing we could do, is go to public funding of Candidates and have real debates. This recent format for the Pubs is killing me. I feel like I'm watching "Who Wants to be a Millionaire". But then we get into our age-old debate of do we want this to be a Democracy or a Republic or Union or a Union under God?
Or a Plutocracy? The 'Oracle of Omaha' has warned of this type of systematic failure.

This is the stupidest, laziest and just flat out wrong statement I've heard in the last week.

My uncle was raised by very frugal parents and was one of 5 boys. He started his own company and self made himself a billionaire and many other millionaires. He was not rich to being with, but now he is part of the %0.000001.

This is what makes America unique. This type of success can actually happen here, where in other parts of the world there just aren't the opportunities to achieve this success unless you are born into it (i.e. Europe - aristocracy, India - caste system, Asia - society expects all to be the same.)

Who the hell needs a billion dollars? How much shit do you need? You can't take any of it with you when you die. So, is it even real? I'd rather live simply so that others may simply live.

money=power, power=control. The more money one has, the more control one has.

Whether the reality is accepted or denied we are all, in a sense, "controlled." And the control-power freaks are turning up the heat.

Try to do anything without paying a fee and/or getting permission and see where you end up. The land-of-free bullshit has been nothing but an illusion. Happy slaves are good slaves and productive. Disgruntled slaves rebel and are less productive. Therefore they constantly paint the illusion that you have freedom...creating happy slaves and "obeidient workers."

Everything thay they do is laid out in advance by well scripted plans. They cause a problem, they create a reaction (in the sheep) and then offer a solution. CONTROL. The endgame? One world government of corporate dictatorship. (aka Fascism)

We are nothing more than cattle being fattened up for slaughter.

Again, ignorance....... you've got ONE good luck story, in the 1,000s of people you know. And, the story, if it's true, happened in the far past. Now we have close to 15% unemployment (THE GOV IS SKEWING THE NUMBERS AND ONLY REPORTING LIKE 9%, but THAT IS BS) no loans to buy houses, record credit defaults, and yet the country countinues to be run by corporations and the wealthy, which is the same as a CASTE system, only we don't call it that. How's your income, Jerome? Maybe you can get a loan from your uncle....

If you believe that, then you have already given up your real power. That's exactly the thinking that caused the division between the 99/1%. Money isn't real. A lot of us forget that because we have gotten so far away from the natural world. America needs a big shot of transcendentalism! As a society we need to stop chasing meaningless ambition and focus on that which is natural and real!

America's Golden Age is over. The post-WWII baby boomers generation (my parents) were spoiled by the "American Dream". This was the boom of oil and economic wealth in America, which we are seeing the decay of right now. The last economic boom for that generation was the 90s, and that has all come toppling down!

My dad came to the USA in the early 60s to attend college and to live the American Dream. When he first arrived he was impressed and taken back my America's prosperity. In 1961 you could put a postage stamp on a letter in New York City, and it would take 3 days to arrive in Los Angeles. Now you'll be lucky if it makes it in 8 days. My dad was witness to the demise of America and wasn't affraid to talk about it. He was the perfect example of someone that came here during the Golden Age and saw it all fall apart.

Your uncle is one of a few that may of gotten lucky with his hard work, but for everyone of him, there are a 100,000 hard working people that have had their dreams crushed by the IRS, large globalist corporations, etc., etc.

Have you visited Europe or Asia? Yes Europe is an aristocracy, where do you think the USA learned how to run the show? Roughly 4,000 people own over 90% of the wealth in the United States, is that not an aristocracy? Bank of AMERICA is over 70% owned by European and International Bankers.

However, Europe still has a somewhat weathier and healthier middle-class than the US. The average middle-class European may not make as much annual income as an America, but they do have better healthcare, living standards, less crime, and a lot less accumulated debt.

In India, the caste system is dilapidated and has been replaced with a corporate aristocracy from the textile and technology industries.

In Asia, work ethics are at a higher standard, but AMERICAN corporations have favored Asia thanks to cheap labor and more available resources. North America has been stripped of almost all of its resources. Take a drive through Texas or Southern California...are any of those oil pumps actually pumping, or are they at a stand still? We have raped this land and there is almost nothing left (except in North Dakota, and who wants to live there?). Thats why we are waging wars in other nations for their resources.

Doesn't anyone else see the parallels with where we are now and the decay and fall of the Roman empire? Romans took pride in being a "Roman citizen", the most powerful and prosperous empire in the world! No one is as wise and wealthy as a "Roman". We have the right to conquer the world. This arrogance eventually led to their own demise. :character0095:

Yup! Every "civilized" society makes the same mistakes that lead to their demise. You would think we would learn as a species and try a new approach. But nope! Such is the arrogance of man.

Sorry man, I agree with a lot of what you said, but this right here is BS. From what I have read, the top 1% owns about 40% of the wealth in the US. The top 5% owns about 70% of wealth in the US. And the top 1% is about 3 million people. This is very unbalanced, BUT, I believe your statistics are a little off.

Yes, statistically you are right. But the real wealth and ownership is hard to really figure out, especially from "Business Insider" magazine. JP Morgan was considered one of the richest people alive in his time, but upon his death it was found that most of his wealth was actually owned by the Rothschild family. Most of the über rich aren't even on the "Forbes" list, which is a voluntary list, BTW. I think those stats are a bit askew because most of these "owners" will not admit to how much they really own.

And actually that article backs up the claims of this thread quite well. Even though "Business Insider" is owned by DoubleClick, which is basically an advertisement agency owned by all the big corporate media. SO you think those big tykes gonna really let you in to the % of wealth they own.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DoubleClick

DoubleClick is a subsidiary of Google that develops and provides Internet ad serving services. Its clients include agencies, marketers (Universal McCann Interactive, AKQA etc.) and publishers who serve customers like Microsoft, General Motors, Coca-Cola, Motorola, L'Oréal, Palm, Inc., Apple Inc., Visa USA, Nike, Carlsberg among others. DoubleClick's headquarters is in New York City, United States.

this occupy everywhere crap is a joke. you talk to most immigrants and they see America as a land of opportunity, talk to the people born here and they are sitting on thier asses with thier hands out. everyone thinks the easy way out is to steal the rich peoples money. raising the taxes on people making 200k or more a year is not gonna fix anything so why do it? why go after what other people have? we need to control our spending then we can lower taxes.

my uncle worked in a machine shop for over 20 years running it, he made great money. in 03 it closed down. instead of going "man i cant find a job" he went back to school while he collected unemployment not even 2 years after he lost his job he found a new job in a totally differnt field. there was no way he was gonna let him self lose his house or not be able to support his family.

people think they cant start new but you can. most of the obstacles we face in life are ones we put in our own way. you just need to do something anything even mcdonalds. tons of carpenters out of work cause they think they are still worth 35 dollars an hour to work. So now they do a random odd job or 2 at that wage. At the end of the year they would have made more money working for 15 an hour steadily.

tell you what you may see me at an occupy wall street rally, ill be the guy selling waters and "Go Get'em" T-shirts, cause in America its that easy to make money.

So i guess your are happy with the job the current government is doing? Why do you assume that everyone who supports the occupy movement wants a handout? I just want to be able to make a living without the federal government taking me to jail. I want a federal government that LISTENS to the VOTE of the People. I can take care of myself, like everyone else. If you cant see how the corporations have taken over the government, than that is fine with me. I have no problem leading the blind. I dont care if you think its a waste of time, but dont criticize people who are willing to stand up for their rights and yours. That does kind of irritate me, and make you look ignorant. A lot of corporations pay less taxes than the average american, or no taxes. Warren Buffet pays less taxes than his maid. If you are happy with that fine. There are millionaires who support this movement. Its about a third party that is for the average blue collar citizen.

I understand what you are saying, but i look at it from a different point of view.
I think that we are still living in the golden age. A lot of stuff is changing for the positive right now. We have lots of great technology and ways to share information in the year 2011. America hasnt lost its wealth, its just more unbalanced. I love the Rome comparisons. I feel like our society is still an evolution of the Roman Empire. We share a lot of their ideas and philosophies and have a lot of their ancestors blood in ours. We have made a lot of progress globally since the days of the Roman Empire. Groups like the United Nations make us part of some kind of empire or nwo. I think the internet has broken a lot of borders, and brought people together from all over the world. Now its time to share the truth and lead or society in a positive direction. I believe in the law of attraction. The future we project is the one we will get. So I feel we are at a tipping point, not a demise. It depends on how people act and live now and in the future, and hopefully we can continue making forward progress, however slow or fast it goes.

I can't sum up America any better than you did. And I guarantee you America is still this.

Don't believe us? Go ask a immigrant. America is, and always has been the land of opportunity. However to get this opportunity you need to bring yourself up by your bootstraps.

All I hear lately is people whining like little babies that they can't make a billion, or even a million dollars. You can - it just takes a lot of luck and good people around you. However, its harder then ever to make this $$ if you have already screwed up in life. Big deal. If you can't do it just be happy with what you got and stop ripping on the successful people.

I think everything will be fine and dandy once the FEMA Camps are filled up and everyone traveling in a car, bus, plane, riding their bike or or walking will have their balls grabbed by TSA agents.

Everything will be find and dandy as more and more jobs are shipped overseas.

More fine and dandy stuff will continue as we bomb every brown colored country to smithereens. They should create some great jobs.. kill others for money.

Everything will be fine and dandy as they continue to increase taxes which will soon wipe out all those lazyass middleclass workers. "Lazy Americans, Patooey!"

This is really a wonderful place for the illegal immigrants too. They come here with nothing and get free housing, free schooling, free healthcare and enjoy working for 5 bucks an hour and will work 12 hour days. They futher enjoy their tax free earnings and then go back to Mexico and live like a king. When they need a little more work and money they come back. They love America so much they keep coming here and proudly waving their Mexican flags and demanding that they have equal rights. How's that for appreciation?

Yeah, it's all good, right? :thinking

guess you haven't noticed lately but we don't have much in the way of corporations. but the ones that are here and the reason they have power is because we need thier money. the only way you can make your own rules is if your, your own man or entity. the reason big business has so much control is because of people like you. soon as they stop making money, guess what the whole working class and retired class suffers. each and every pension and 401k plan is tied into these big oil companies, insurance and tobacco companies as well. all these teachers, cops, firefighters, postal employees state workers the list goes on and on. you are so tied into them you couldn't imagine. if they fail so dose your pension. so does the dollar. People should be mad as hell at Obama then for bailing out these banks and insurance companies. We should have given the money to the banks that were doing the right thing. They would have grown bigger picked up the other banks slack. We already know they will do it right cause they proved it when most banks failed.

throwing around the word ignorant doesn't make you sound smart or get your point across any better. next time you start a thread like this post "only respond if you agree with me". that way you and your friends can bash whoever in peace.
