Did you notice the UVA and Far Red? We're doing some testing in this tent. There's a thread asking if you should add UVB, so we are answering that question in another tent. I've got video of all that in other threads if you want to jump in.
I've been lurking in that thread too. Nothing to add to the conversation, so just absorbing what I can.

Thats very impressive! My system will be pretty basic. 2 17 gallon toats, 2" return 3/4 supply. There will be two plants in each so 4 total. You have really helped me along the way. As well as the others in this thread. But here's what I got so far. Don't mind the mess im in the middle of a remodel lol.

That will work just fine. I recommend you go with as large a res as you can fit/find. The larger the water supply the more forgiving. PH swings less, temp, EC, etc. set it up so maintenance is easy and you are more likely to do it. Your plants will thank you.

Thanks thats the plan. I found a few 25 gallon toats that wil work great. My plan is to have the res outside of the tent so It can stay cooler while making it accessible to check ph/ec whenever i want and not have to worry about light cycles and such. I will post again in a few weeks! Stay safe everyone!

What system you planning on building? I got a video here of my fallponics system if you like engineering porn.

I'd like to see that if you don't mind. I'm in the process of building a hybrid hydro system right now. I might be able to use some of those engineering ideas ...

Here it is

Nice re-purpose use on the cat litter containers! They make a great planter for sure. My idea is almost the same as what you've done. The difference is mine is pumping the water through an aeroponics manifold into the pot and then recirculating into a reservoir like your rdwc. I'm waiting for the rest of the parts to arrive to finish a single planter prototype (dwc/aeroponics) system. I intend to learn the basics of hydro with that and then expand that into a multi pot system which includes the reservoir. At this point, I'm not certain I will need a chiller. I have a pair of 1/2 hp inline water pumps for the multipot system and that should help avoid the pump heat making the water too hot.

Hello everyone. I have recently started my first indoor DWC grow. I am just over a week into my grow and my plants have grown fast. Two are random seeds I had laying around and two are feminized white widow. I have noticed over the last few days the leaves are starting to turn lime green. And has seemed to progress the last day or two. I have done a ton of Googleing and reading but cant seem to nail down exactly what it might be.They are being feed the basic general hydroponics trio with hydroguard. My ph sits right around 5.9-6. Ppm around 400. Roots seem white and healthy. Temps are around 71 because I do not have the ability to use a chiller yet. The white widow seem to be doing better but are starting to curl a bit and they are also a day behind in the grow. Any help would be appreciated. Please take it easy on me as I said this is my very first grow. Here are some pictures taken today. Thank guys!
You need to either lower water temps or add the right good bacteria and this will help enough for now but get yourself a big barrel and put it outside somewhere colder and then pump your water around this into the buckets this will chill the water without a chiller you could also add a bottle of water that's been in the freezer to the Res and then circulate that to the buckets hope it helps hey go follow my grow journal long time grower first time poster so please support me by tagging along maybe we might both learn something

Also putting the air pump in the freezer and running the air to your bucket will also do it but you would have to Mac guyver the freezer so it closes still lol I've tried it all in the end I decided to use the kiss strategy keep it simple stupid just use soil and ammend your soul over years of making compost and adding the right organics soil can be much easier and better but it all depends on the grower but let's face it soil has been around alot longer than any hydro setup

Had my system at 72-73f which I found most ideal for growth. 2 weeks... no not during stretch I was away and had to rip the grow down. My daughter watched it when I was gone. I find even from 68-72 you see a noticeable difference in growth.

Agree the bacteria are an absolute must

I sure am glad this is not based on need lol. I don't "need" half the crap I have.

I hear you there. I've started my spring cleaning early. Why? So I can add more stuff over the next year. We get rid of things so we can add more things .... It's a never ending cycle.

What were you using to regulate water temp so precisely? An aquarium heater? A chiller? or Both using a temperature controller?

I had holes cut in the floor to exactly fit the pails ao they rested on the concrete and my res was outside on concrete. This was by design as an aquarium heater costs like $30. Yes just an aquarium heater I had kicking around.

My basement floor is concrete. I would prefer the $30 aquarium heater over the price of a chiller. The reservoir will be on the concrete floor in my basement. That might be enough to avoid a chiller because the floor is cool year round.

Helps you are pretty far north. Does the sun even shine up there?

my concrete does not stay cool in summer. But I like your insulation. I may steal that.
So cheap... CAD $11 for a 4x8 sheet and used 1x2 for the frame. Comes reflective and insulates well. Good for a grow room you don't want to be permanent or building a sealed room. No fuxkin around trying to find the ideal tent and I would say a lot cheap in most cases

Lots of great info. My Temps have stayed very consistent. The little ink bird does a good job at keeping the tent consistent. Guy near by has a chiller I might pick up for the summer but air outside of the tent is about 57 or lower in the winter. Im going to be keeping my res outside of the tent to keep Temps down and convince. Next grow will things will be more buttoned down. Going to be fun tweeking things to make my life easier
