Need Advice on Alternate Growing Method

In the past, I stayed with the old school method of growing the plants large and indoors. Typically the plants are over 6 ft tall and 4 of them fill up the 12x8 space fully under 2x 1000 HID lighting, using Promix in 5 gallon buckets. After 40 years, I have decided to try a different approach...

Long Period Drying in Total Darkness

Paraquat... reminds me of the 70s when the USA were supposed to be spraying pot fields with it. I never knew anyone who had any problems, but it is a spooky chemical.

Long Period Drying in Total Darkness

I have had these buds for decades, but they were usually the result of me being lazy and not picking off all of the leaves. The chlorophyll is consumed by the still living buds, so there is really no "colors" in the bud because all of the chlorophyll and other colored compounds are used up by...

Long Period Drying in Total Darkness

Thank you for the roses! My kidneys are shot and I do Peritoneal Dialysis every night. It involves pumping 2 liters of fluid into my abdomen (In the Peritoneal cavity... where your guts reside) and pumps it back out 90 minutes later. This is repeated 5X every night. Anyhow, the fluid goes in/out...

Long Period Drying in Total Darkness

After my last grow, I got sick and I had to somewhat abandon my plants. They were ready for harvest but I wasn't around to take them down. They were grown under 2X HID lighting, with one MH swapped out with a HPS bulb. When I left them, the lights were off but the exhaust fan was running to...

    PipeCarver's Nova Scotian grow den

Looking good! I finally got my last bunch going but had a 50-50 male/female ratio... and that was using 2 feminized seeds. The other seeds were all male sans one and I have no idea which is which anymore. I had a beutiful sativa that I was sure was a female until it grew a foot in 3 days during...

Super Bushy and Eats Like a Pig

After conquoring all types of mites and crittets, I started a bunch of plants from seed, but due to difficulties in geting decent seeds, they got mixed up and are unknown lineages. One in particular is unlike any plant that I've grown, and is so bushy that it has proved difficult to train. The...

    Mushroom thread

In earlier years, I was a very accomplished psychonaut. A dozen hits of strong acid was wild, but paled in comparison to a 13 dry gram Cyan dose. Nearly 40 years later and I still haven't touched them again. I couldn't really describe it as a trip, as it was more hallucinatory than a vivid...

The cakes are solid white and rubbery, as you mentioned. The local water is great for just about everything and has a good but not high mineral content and very little chlorine. I might inject about 10 cc's or so of water into one or two cakes and see if it makes any difference. I'm torn between...

As my jar cakes seem a little drier than I thought they should be after my flush finished, I soaked them for about 18 hours but they didn't seem to have absorbed any moisture that I could tell. The mycelium still is white but it isn't as "glisten-y" as it was prior. Would injecting the cakes...

The problem might be with the temps. Originally I had moved them to a slightly higher temp area (from around 70f) when I saw the first pins. My lid doesn't fit tightly and I think it is allowing enough air to circulate. My humidity levels are high with condensation. After the last fruiting, I...

    First Harvest. No sweet smell?

Rehydrating can restore some of the taste, but once the flavor is diminished, it is gone for good. I would recommend using just the orange peels or apple peels to raise your humidity since they contain a lot less moisture and won't cause the mold/mildew that more juicy products can introduce.

OK, I had a fruiting from the jarred cakes and then things seem to have stopped after a very short flush. I still have high humidity and the mycelium seems good and healthy... you can smell the fresh mushroom smell when you pop the lid on the Perlite substrate. I get condensation on the tub's...

    Coco seedling watering mishap question

Plants are very sensitive to high nutrient levels, especially when just starting off. 300 sounds pretty reasonable but I don't add any nutrients for the first few weeks as it seems to help the roots spread out faster and avoids injuring delicate seedlings. I prefer to start my plants in their...

My fruiting started but seemed to stall shortly after seeing pins and 1 or 2 larger caps. I moved it on top of a heat source and was quite surprised when I popped the top off the container. The few small pins have suddenly sprung to life and I have a couple suprisingly big shrooms. I was pretty...
