Oh, and I don't think that it is too farfetched to believe that he will face NO opposition from the federal government. If you look closely at who is involved here. The federal government just signed the protection act for Monsanto, Bill Gates purchased 500,000 shares of Monsanto stock roughly right before 502 passed and was the major contributor to Yes on I-502 (along with Progressive Insurance hoping for a huge payout from insurance fees going up because of atrocious per se DUI laws here now). So what's the one company large enough and with enough pull in and out of federal government to lobby their way into being a legal weed dealer? Yup, Monsanto is the only company that could afford to pull off that kind of bribery and be "qualified" to grow this newly freed revenue stream.

Now these are all speculations, but more than likely true and I think you'll all see us get flushed out really quick if this swings the way they want it to. Why would we expect any different? Of course they'd like to exploit cheaper work while the DEA avoids looking hypocritical in who it chooses to target. We'll be a target rich environment getting shot like fish in a barrel while the big boys sit on their hammocks importing their "legal" marijuana.

Ya know what? Y'all are just hatin' to hate.

This is what we wanted--normalization, legalization, all of it. These are part of the growing pains we are going to experience with accomplishing our goal. Right? Or, did you guys think it was gonna go differently somehow?

I was just pissed about the import part!..

fairly wrong actually

this guy doesn't know what he's doing. I get to meet him after next week when he comes back from DC to Colorado after lobbying for some pretty major financial happenings that will drastically affect the way money is handled in the industry. Can't wait to give him a piece of mind when he tries to buy every dispensary in boulder!

posted on a local board:

The first national marijuana brand, or the first marijuana stock promotion?

by Mark Kleiman

It was inevitable that the legalization of cannabis would attract a certain number of insensate greedheads to the industry. And I suppose it was also inevitable that some of them would be terminally stupid and self-destructive.

That’s one explanation of today’s announcement by former Microsoft employee Jamen Shively that he plans to create a national brand of marijuana and is working out the details about how to import it from Mexico.

Mr. Shively has how painted a target on his shirt-front. Should he actually engage in the business of growing or selling cannabis, or owning businesses that do so, he has a very good chance of a long, all-expenses-paid vacation at the expense of federal taxpayers.

If, when he says that he’s been smoking cannabis for a year and a half, he means that he’s been stoned continuously over that period, it’s barely possible that he doesn’t understand the risks; in that case, he might be sincerely misguided.

But when Shively talks about “minting more millionaires than Microsoft,” I start to wonder whether he’s engaged in a racket much safer than pot-vending: to wit, stock promotion. If you were really going to sell cannabis, you wouldn’t toot your horn. But if you wanted to sell securities, a press conference with Vicente Fox sounds like just the thing.

Since there’s one born every minute, Shively should have no problem raising a bunch of cash from greedy suckers, keeping a large fraction of the stock in his new company in his own hands. There are a number of legal and quasi-legal ways of moving the investors’ cash from the corporate balance sheet to the promoter’s pocket. Or he could just sell some of his stock before the market gets wise. As long as he never actually engages in the cannabis trade, he’s safe from the DEA. The SEC isn’t nearly as aggressive, and the potential sentences are much shorter.

You're right Capitalism is king. That's why sweat shops exist. I'm thinking he's relating his affairs to be exempt from Fed law like Big Pharma is in the opium trade. I just don't see this happening like this nerd-turd sees it going. Albeit the opium traders are just as, if not worse than the Mexican Cartels...they are the ones who make it all happen. Do you think he's gonna have some peaceful latinos who are "cartel-free" producing his stock..hell no..big money attracts the most ruthless people. If ain't the Cartels it will be the Feds who take control of this clown with his $10 mill capital...or just get denied and he can go back to reality.

True ^^^^^^keep spreading the word my friend and look at the world trade market as it is take a trip to SF and tell me none of those tugboats are already importing the majority of whats consumed ....so whats frustrating is that its so blatant! Well let this be another SIREN for us to answer by growing our own and grow for ourselves. FUBU Kush if you will... Kill the demand and the IMPORT will DIE

A dollar says they lobbied within Mexico to get the ability to buy land there as a foreigner. I remember JK saying they just recently opened it up or are planning to and I wouldn't doubt it would be to purchase raw land to farm and deal with a more reasonable government interested in legal trade. It'll be the loophole of the century all provided by 502 backers (yup, Bill Gates, another Microsoft friend). You wouldn't believe the shit going on in Olympia right now. Interlock devices for cannabis offenses, Liquor Control Board trying to take over medical and snuff the law, ugly stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if this was their way of staining that white collar green. After all, Windows 8 is getting its ass kicked by other operating systems. :D

Anyone can buy land in Mexico, you just couldn't buy land within a couple hundred miles of the coast or border. There are loopholes around that though.

You know, you made me think "bigger picture"

What if, the "Monsanto protection act" was really designed for future benefit? A law enabling the production of cannabis by what ever they need to describe it as to limit it to big corporations (Monsanto) being exempt from future litigation as pot becomes legal. What... you dont think they pay people to think 10 years ahead?

I saw this interview a while ago and there's one moment where I really hated him, which is when he says something like "I guess it's in my blood, my great grnadfather owned a hemp plantation", which is basically saying, my ancestors made a fortune from exploited people who'd been persecuted and fucked by their government, now watch as I do the same to medical patients.

Mind you at least it meant the fox news woman almost had a heart attack when he said "Marijuana isn't Harmful" on air.

I always told anyone who would listen...Once Marijuana became legal and recreational the 'Million Dollar Boys Club' was moving in. This is the first shot of many more to come. Some will fail and some will not. Can you say R.J. Reynolds, Marlboro, et al.?
