man Kebz, you can get the girls to bush out nice, gonna be alot of bud sites.
the use of comfrey has roots in England and France, believe the cultiver we use was developed in jolly ol England.
anyway here's how i use it.
plant it, mine needs water, grows very easy, hard to stop.

pick it and cut it up. it will come back, take the top out of it.

put plant material in jar with good water, let set for a couple day, stir occasionaly. strain and dilute to tea color. spray on plants at lights out. the smell grows on ya.:inpain:

`;) I'm usually an indoor sort of guy (leaving the outdoors to less attention drawing veg) but i'm blown away at the speed and development of outdoors.

Thanks for the really useful post on comfrey. From what I've read your right, it developed in the UK and Europe and I'm surprised, I've not heard of it, my mum was an avid gardner and I have a lot of outdoor friends.

I'm gonna get me a cultiver and start using it. Its organic, is more than happy growing in the U.K climate and regrows easily so is very economical. Thanks mogrow.

i still contend well cared for cannabis grow under the sun beats indoors hands down.
really best use for comfrey is in the compost pile, but you have to try it as a foilar, you'll plants will be standing at attention.
you have any dandelions, mullien, water cress??? these are all great "dynamic nutrient accumulators>.
best, maybe of all, is stinging nettle...

Completely agree. All we ever do indoors, is try to artificially replicate sunshine (the useful parts of the spectrum) and the great outdoors which plants respond to.

Now this is starting to get interesting. Thanks very much for the info mogrow, like so many area's in life, no matter how old I get, I'm always surprised at how much I've missed, there's always more to learn.

A guard tortoise wonders the grounds, so I leave a lot of the garden to grow wild plants which she grazes upon, dandelion's, weeds, etc.

I think its time for tea! Organic and very English! ;)

We have been blessed with the best period of continual days of sunshine for about 6 or 7 years, Ive been lucky with the decision to plant outdoors this year. I take nothing away from mother nature, as a wise man once said, "i still contend well cared for cannabis grown under the sun beats indoors hands down".

I'm in complete agreement and feel that artificial lighting struggles to compete with a good old fashioned summer.........although......

Its actually been a bit TOO successful and the original 5 surviving female Blue Rhinos and one of the Jack Blues have now been moved indoors. They were starting to dwarf the area available and make it look like I thought I was growing legally!

We like ladybirds, I made the mistake of clearing a lot of (too many) nettles earlier in the year and saw a steep decline in population, I regret that deeply. The birds are so cool.

Went with a nettle and dandelion concoction (tea / Witches brew) and am applying as a foliar. The girls are responding really well and seem to be in their most rampant levels of growth yet but my tortoise was not impressed. I've had trouble sourcing comfrey in the u.k, which seems odd as its a plant that grows in this country but the search goes on. I saw seeds online but that seemed a little long, tho it might be better to plan for next season at this point in the year. The plant on the left in the bottom two pictures seems to be going into transition and producing more and more pistils. Its the only one of the outdoor plants to be showing any real signs of moving towards bloom. I was hoping the indica heavy looking Blue Rhino might be an earlier finisher, but hope is only that!

cool thread from start to finish , fast question how is the smell and do you do anything to control it, as I like yourself have thrown a few outside with some coverage just starting to bud a little, and on humid days a stench is slightly is prevalent.

would love your (mogrow) opinion also as I am aware your a awesome outdoor grower also .... believe i might of (if i'm correct in my thinking) smoke some of your bud last night ......mango/green crack ? blackberry kush ?

Baba has told me try not to water in afternoon and he was correct as i did and noticed a more prevalent smell but only tip i got so far....

I grow a LOT of mint, leeks and onions and they provide a reasonable background odour.
HOWEVER..... in the present hot and humid weather the girls started to stink out the neighbourhood.

The best option would be to have a green house with air extracted and vented on a regular basis, but that was something I dreamed of on the days they stunk most but can ill afford and have no room for. I'm thinking bushes of odorous herbs like rosemary.

I really wanted to finish all 10 plants outdoors but it was way too much. I have now reduced down to the 4 largest plants outdoors with the other 6 finishing off indoors. On one hand i feel like i've cheated and lost out on the prolonged good weather. But on the other I feel like its a lot more manageable. The outdoor girls drink maybe twice a day on really hot days and with 10 outdoors it was a lot of work. From a security perspective the remaining 4 still smell a bit, but much less than the way it reeked before and the plants brought indoors are already producing small bud sites and will be ready for harvest weeks before the outdoor girls.

At its worst, a neighbour suggested that if I was smoking weed in the garden to perhaps keep it indoors :bag:for fear of offending one neighbour or another, I smiled and agreed, he's old and thought he was giving me the heads up.

I'm not going out of my way to offend anyone but I am too old to ask permission, especially for something as mundane as practicing horticulture. If some people don't like it....then they don't like it. Those of us who are grown, both physically and mentally and find ourselves hiding in the dark just to be ourselves, one day, should ask why? Why and how? How did some one steal our ability to be ultimately responsible for ourselves and our actions? Who gave them permission to determine what was in our best interest and what was not? And how do we stop them........

This male is interesting because he's produced a single branch which is wide and flattened, (see below) while all the other branches have a normal appearance.

I think you hit the nail on the head geo, it looks exactly like conjoined stems.
Five must look pretty impressive.

I think pretty much everything that grows is a dynamic nutrient accumulator. I just pick what's actually growing near me. Comfrey requires too much care where I am, so I said fuck it, I'll stick with stuff like the mullein, thistles, oxalis spp, stuff like that.

You have all this other stuff growing around you, use it, don't sweat not having comfrey immediately. Looking really good!

Thank you Sea. I think your right, its hard to get my head it around it and it seems almost too easy but thats what plants do, draw up and filter water and nutrients from the soil. I'll do as you suggest and start experimenting with whats available.

I'm starting to get excited as the plants start to produce more pistils. Things are gonna get interesting very soon.
