:) That's who I remember you as, too. He's here, just under a different username.
The *only* way to avoid rumors and mongering is to have open, fair discussions where all involved are able to speak for themselves. That's a huge part of what IC does--they squelch them from discussing a subject, often for reasons not well understood.
I can't say that I was privy to a whole lot, but what I do know bothers me, enough that I eschew any further association, and I do so publicly.
I wouldn't take such personal exception to it, except that I was approached and agreed to write an article for their online magazine. I made a very conscious decision to use my real name, too. So, I've done what a most others don't--I've put myself out there in a very real way. I knew full well that the consequences cannot readily be imagined until they occur, but the reason(s) behind why I left had to do with feeling very used in the end. And that's what I perceive happening on the larger scale, they have little to no regard for the community as a whole, and don't seem to care that what they created there is indeed unique and can't just be thrown together. That suggests to me that whoever's running the show has zero regard for any of it. So, mass exodus? Yep, I totally understand. Denying me access to even view the site from a particular IP is just having a tantrum, and I'm not the only one they've done it to.
Will the ship sink? I don't know. Do I hope for it? No, because it gives others some very important avenues for a whole lot of things--information, camaraderie, a source of genetics, a mental outlet, whatever. How things are being handled are tearing it apart, IMO.
