This just isn't right. I can't believe a judge somewhere wouldn't help this guy.

"Randall Brown Johnston, a Missouri-based criminal defense attorney who formerly worked as a prosecutor, recalled the case of Jeff Mizanskey, who was found guilty of possession of five pounds of marijuana in 1993 and was later sentenced to life without parole"

Fucking crazy huh?Especially considering what is going down presently in alot of states.

Its a fuckin disgrace u can have a shitload of DUI's & even crash & hurt someone & only get a slap on the hand its fucked up
Assault, rape even murder doesn't get you life with no parole. Theses people are rotting in prison for a plant. There are lawmakers who could change that right now, but they wont. They go to sleep at night in their warm beds with no worry about the sorry folks locked in a cage for life.
Someone needs to help these people, I wish I could do something for them. They need a powerful attorney to make some noise.

I think they all were International drug smugglers
That and one asshole of a judge
Sad to see people sitting in prison for life because of such a harmless plant
Hopefully they are awaiting some sort of trial to get released
I personally don't think they will be locked up for much longer
They'll be out in less than 10

maybe. law is crooked in some places, like the south were im at

its real messed up, here down south, louisiana still giving manditory 5year minium for cultivation. so believe me i know, just got offf a two year suspended sentence with 2year active probation for attemped cultivation in new orleans! so shits real out here, every where that hasnt changed any law on any cannibas. yet in orleans jail, inmates got drugs, cell phones, even afckn gun, another inmate was caught on tape partyin on burbon. its wild down here, they wouldd rather lock us for the ganga instead of stopping violent offenders!

My cousin recently got 240 months for marijuana conspiracy federal case. Everyone on his case snitched on him. And yesterday I heard about a 16 year old kid who was driving drunk and killed four people and he got 10 years probation because his parents are rich. All I can do is shake my fuckin head

life in prison for 5lbs...
everytime i see a story like this, i want to kick everyone in the balls who voted against marijuana legalization

Which "legalization" model have you decided we should support to avoid scrotum kicking? Just a blind " no matter what provisions are in the bill" support, or do we actually get to read the proposed statutes and make an informed decision?

i support any legalization model that keeps people out of jail, i am more concerned with people sitting in prison over a plant than protecting growers profits.
most of the growwers in cali that i know who voted against prop 19 did so because they wanted to protect themselves and their profits, period.

legalize now, and amend the law later, instead of waiting years and years until all provisions read the way everyone wants...
prop 19 was 3 years ago

What legislation exists in your mind that makes possession of 5 lbs legal?

Tell me what state has the law CURRENTLY IN PLACE that you support.

Please say Colorado.... I double dare you.

Edit: one more question for you to ponder, which law that has passed has had a positive impact on the growers? None is the answer. Why would you think the next one will? Yet, with your months of grow expierence, you choose to dictate what decision a grower should make.

I would hope a moral compass would dictate ones voting prefrences in regards to marijuana legalization instead of greed.
so no law has had a positive impact on growers?
any grower who sells their cannabis to a shop in cali is benefiting. any person in a med state that allows said person to grow is also in a more positive place.
the pot shops in colorado selling 50lbs a day at 400a ounce im sure are benefiting. i just read where texas kid is increasing his price per lb because everything is moving.

colorado right now is benefiting from marijuana legalization
explain to me how legalization in colorado has been a bad thing for the grower wanting to produce their own herbs or anyone who consumes marijuana

Not interested in any online flaming; honestly trying not to be a dick...

But...

1- Cali med bud law does not allow for profit.

2- Bud sold in Col shops will be grown commercially by the shops themselves or by
state approved suppliers. Stories of supply issues were merely start up inventory hiccups, as with any business.

3- For the consumer, the rec bud laws could make life better. Choice, comfort, smoke lounges, safety, society acceptance. Of course, your offensive cartoon is directed at growers.

4- To vote against ones own livelihood or financial interest is foolish. To want to protect ones lifestyle and way of life is not greed.

5- Morality is not in any evidence in this; did they remove all prior bud felonies from the record in Col? Did they release prisoners in Col prison for actions that are now legal?

6- The less the penalites, the more complete novices will begin growing. They will convince themselves that they "love" the plant more and with no horticultural training can outproduce the scientists. Mind you, someone who cannot grow a tomato or a rose bush thinks they gained skills in their closet.

I could go on, but my point is, AND WAS, that you have no right to decide how I should vote nor what laws I should support. There is much more to this issue than you have considered. To dismiss it as greed is small minded.

ill respond to your points and agree to disagree.
1. medical marijuana "non profits" are a joke, iv worked in the industry.. just cause the company isn't making a profit the people who own the company get paid stupid high
salaries. I lived in LB for a long time, and been through cali and most growers who do it well are making profits.

4&5 the definiton of grreed is a selfish desire, voting to keep marijuana illegal to protect your finacial assets to me is the definition of greed. voting to keepsomething illegal at the harm of your fellow man so you can profit, how the fuck is that not greed?
calling me small minded or your little snide comment about my "months of growing experience". glad your not "trying to be a dick"....
