MakinGoo, I hate to say this, but the restrictions on cultivation they're proposing is legal, and it's stood the test in courts. That said, the proposal to deny all cultivation likely would not hold up in courts (it would be interesting to hear what county counsel has to say on the second proposal that would endeavor to ban all cultivation, it flies in the face of state laws), however, THAT said, if it were passed, there would only be two ways to overturn it--by a vote, or in a court of law.

Ah, if only that were true! This is another foothill county. That means very Christian, very conservative, just like my county. They can and will target all growers, large and small, just like the BoS did in my county. Somewhat successfully, I might add. We are now restricted to no more than 12 plants out of doors AT ANY TIME, AT ANY STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT for each patient grower. Further, we are restricted in direct opposition of state law in that we are no longer allowed to grow fully collectively, because the BoS put further limitations on where one might grow and with whom. We are limited to 2 patients per lot, irrespective of the lot size and irrespective of patient needs.

So! Folks think it ain't gonna happen? Sit back and watch, or get involved and make SURE. That's my advice after getting involved.

I dunno Sea. There are dry counties and counties where distillation of spirits is prohibited (or excessively controlled to the point of making it impossible). There is precedent for this elsewhere (I'm unsure of Cali specifically).

Got incredible air/water and no people with a serene view of redwoods n creeks in my backyard. I'd say we are both happy but don't say traffic/sprawl/crappy air/too many people cause it only applies to the cities of Cali for the most part.

I love my fresh ocean/redwood cleaned air, you love your frozen sunnyness!

2 hrs. From L.A. in the middle of the Cleavland and San Bernardino National Forests & the traffic/sprawl/crappy air/too many people are almost unbearable... Almost :woot:

It's a demographic thing, squigs. If you look at a map of the counties where Proposition 8 passed, and in those counties it passed OVERWHELMINGLY, then you'll see that the geographical majority of the state is rather to extremely conservative. That will mean that, if this continues, the vast geographical majority of the state could conceivably end up being non-growing/cultivation areas. There are already huge swathes with little to no storefront access. So, what's that going to do for patients like myself, in a state that takes 16hrs or so to cross north to south and at least 4hr east to west? It is entirely possible that San Francisco and LA basin areas will be the *only* places where one might legally cultivate and/or access via storefront. Politically these areas carry the state, but they can only carry it so far.

Looks like a beautiful place to live, So Cal. Like ken, glad to see you landed in such a nice spot and not in one of Cali's uber-polluted cities.

Colorado is right wing as well, Sea. Folks forget that fact or only think about the "weed" aspect of Colorado. I mean..if it;s legal CO must be a liberal place, huh? Wrong. Check the votes and you'll see that the ranching areas East/West almost always vote Republican/against personal rights (weed/gay/etc)...and the mountain towns and Boulder and a few other small bastions of liberalism vote mostly Democratic/for personal rights. Fuckin treehuggers:rolleyes:

I hope yer wrong about the swing to non-cultivation...because all it takes is a slight push to get the dominoes tipping...and now that the States are figuring out how lucrative/profitable drug sales can be...we could easily have a serious threat looming/uncertainty looming for the future to our home grows.

I hope I'm wrong, too, sky high, but I fear I am not. I have known for a while that there are a *lot* of conservatives who've really wanted to push back against cultivation and storefronts, and HUGE inroads have been made in ridding the state of storefronts. With this, it's become an all out assault on Prop 215. Right now the best actual hope doesn't come from people making themselves heard (cuz that ain't happening), it's going to come from a higher court overturning the state court of appeals decision. I'm not very confident that's going to happen at this moment, but perhaps that is due to my eating of bitter fruit.

B.J. Hansen, MML News Director
Sonora, CA -- Several items will face the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.

At 1:30pm the Supervisors will talk about adding a new chapter to the county ordinance code that would prohibit medical marijuana dispensaries, medical marijuana collectives and outdoor cultivation of medical marijuana. It would also place regulations on indoor cultivation of medical marijuana. The Supervisors will decide whether to send the marijuana proposal to the Planning Commission for a review and recommendation. County documents show that a working group was coordinated by County Counsel Sarah Carrillo to prepare the ordinance. Members included Deputy County Counsel Carlyn Drivdahl, District Attorney Michael Knowles, Health Officer Dr. Todd Stolp, Under-Sheriff Bill Pooley, former Under-Sheriff Keith Lunney, and CRA Director Bev Shane.

Also on the agenda is whether to extend the contract with County Administrator Craig Pedro by five years. It would begin with a base salary of $135K and a $450 a month automobile allowance. The salary could go up to $161K when factoring in a retention incentive and leave coversion.

The County will also decide whether to send a letter to the U.S. Forest Service regarding the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement for the Rim Fire Recovery. In addition, the Board will talk about the Ackerson Creek Crossing Replacement project.

Same up here. This was the main reason why I left the patient advocacy group I was working with--the official stance regarding dispensaries is just not strong enough for me and I couldn't put my name along with it.

This is a real backlash happening. I'm fortunate, I suppose, in that I wasn't also charged when I was attacked and robbed, but it's happened and it's happening.

another reason for them to Ban
aint no joke out here!

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, Fresno County Sheriff Deputies foiled a home invasion robbery, as the suspects tried to get away.

It happened in a neighborhood near Jensen Avenue and Valentine Avenue. Investigators said the suspects brought a U-Haul truck to fill with marijuana.

Deputies discovered garbage bags full of marijuana valued at more than $1 million on the streets. But now, the home invasion victims are also facing questions for cultivating so much pot.

Detectives say the two people who live here had a very rude awakening early Tuesday morning. Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies said five armed men busted into the home, wearing ski masks, camo gear and bullet proof vests. Investigators believe they were after a huge cash crop -- 500 pounds of processed marijuana.

"Not sure how it was they discovered there was this much marijuana in the home, but obviously they found out and they came prepared. They tied these people up. They are very fortunate they didn't lose their lives. Both the victims of the home invasion and the suspects," said Joe Smith, Fresno County Sheriff's Office.

Even though the victims hands and feet were both zip tied, deputies say one of them got away to call for help. Investigators say the armed thieves brought a U-Haul truck they parked nearby to carry the large stash. As they prepared to leave, deputies were pulling up. Two suspects were caught, including one who did go to some length to hide from a hovering helicopter.

"He had stripped off all the camouflage gear. He was found in a T-shirt and shorts actually buried in the dirt," said Rich Garringer, Fresno County Sheriff's Office.

All morning, canine dogs searched a vineyard row by row for the remaining suspects. Investigators won't say if the suspects under arrest and they are not revealing the identities of their accomplices who got away.

In addition to an outdoor grow, deputies found 500 plants growing indoors.

Even though the victims had two marijuana prescriptions, deputies say the amount they had far exceeds the amount allowed by law. Right now deputies are still deciding whether the victims will be charged with any crimes.

Is that the one I read about yesterday, @Aligee ? When I read about it, the folks who were invaded were being charged with a variety of crimes, including something like endangering others/the neighborhood.

I would *not* want to be raising young kids like that, either. Totally understand that one, and totally understand the problem with just pickin' up and moving.

Just saying, didn't they fill out paperwork for uhaul? Just seems like an easy way to follow these folks for the authorities as uhauls are beyond traceable...
