I wouldn't call where I'm at rural, but it is... It's also a community. And full of great people (and one verified shithead(other then me)) that will do anything at any time for you. It's really nice. what you CM and SH are saying definitely resonates here.

CM- don't let the fire guys near your shit. ;-)

Was just in the Cortez area. I drove to visit a buddy in Durango. As I'm approaching the pass I see an old red pickup, I get closer and see a guy standing near the truck, then I see the guy over a deer, as I drive buy I see he's dressing road kill. Yeah CO is a bit different lol.

Road kill can be some good shit here in Colorado. I would go as far as to say I would get down on some fresh RK Elk before I'd head to town, down the cash, and splurge on beef that tastes like down there..

My buddy said you can call highway patrol and get on a call list for fresh road kill. Also if you come across something you better call before you start dressing it. True story...about OR though...I'm in some back country dinner and a guy is talking about dressing a RK deer on a cold morning and a bit of steam coming from it's nostrils. The other guy asks if it was just sleeping. I thought it was funny that morning lol. Anyway Montezuma county CO a different pace of life. My buddy had a litter of mountain lion kittens in his backyard crying away after his dogs stole their kill that he guessed mom dropped there for him. Needless to say he went right back inside. I loved the open space and clean air. Denver...you can have it. I might have driven by the new 419.99 mile marker on my trip recently. Hoping to move to CO in a few months.

LMAO!!! not just Colorado; my childhood friend had an Uncle Elmer who welded two ten-speed bike frames to his front bumper so he could hit deer on his way home from the bar late night and not damage his beat-up old ass truck... That was northern Indiana/ southern Michigan...

I was driving my brand new wife home from our honeymoon in Lake Powell. We were between Durango and Ouray on a pass, where the road switches back and winds all around the mountain. I was driving between 10 and 15 mph; enjoying the scenery but paying attention to the road, and this beautiful little spotted fawn hopped out of the brush next to the road and literally dived under the passenger side front tire. Either he was experiencing pre-teen angst and felt hopeless, or Darwin was right. That little f@$#er didn't die, either. I had to pull a Bowie knife out of the trunk and slit its pretty little throat. TALK ABOUT ROMANTIC.

Free and fresh meat. Hopefully your wife appreciated your ability to be a provider. On my trip seeing the guy dress road kill that day I stopped at Trimble Hot Springs. Saw the signs to Ouray though. Some great herb grown near Trimble. Mmmmmm Vietnamese based crazy long flowering sativa. He finished it at 14 weeks yet needed a few weeks more. I thought it was close enough to count.

Forget the Bowie...I kind of got used to my friend open carrying his 1911. Is that OK on this forum? If in CO you knows what I'm talkin about!

I love Colorado and have lived here since '89 from New York. Beautiful mountains, the dankest kind bud and mostly chill ass people.
After traveling all around the world....it always feels great to come home to mountain fresh air, some good sticky icky weed and a micro brew like Sunshine Wheat! Plus, we do get over 300 days of sun a year and that does generally make people a lot happier.
Damn someone else likes Sunshine Wheat? I just found that beer a week ago and love it. These are the reasons I moved to Colorado from Utah (aka the Zion curtain). The mountains clean air clean water and great beer/bud all make this the greatest state in the nation!
