This is a project of mine I want to complete before the end of this summer. I'm not a homeowner, I rent. The past several times I've moved, I've spent a week or two building out the grow room, only to tear it all down when it comes time to leave. Then put it all back up in the new place, and hope I don't have to spent too much on new stuff that couldn't be reused...

SO, I'm working on finding an old travel trailer to convert into a portable grow-room. This way any time I move, I'm only taking up driveway space, rather than the entire garage or a spare room and half the basement. Lol. I'll pull it in and just run the wire to the place. I figure 60amps would be enough for everything...

So my question is: is there anyone else on here who's taken on a project like this before? Anyone have any tips or ideas as to how to go about this? The goal is to find something at least 25' long, preferably 30'+...

Wasn't there a guy on here a few months back trying to sell his 2 shipping containers that were rigged up 10k each?

Anywho I'm sure you could get an old rv and run some extension cords, not sure if you'd have safety concerns but I'd definitely have a few security concerns. Even if you're in WA people will still pull stupid shit. Watching this to see what people come up with. Good luck dude.

Love the idea, actually knew some southern boy's who had underground trailers each had 15k going on. I believe one got busted the other have no clue. But i do believe the blueprint to the dude who got busted is around. Gimme a day or two ill dig that link up. Sounds like your going Breaking Bad Style. Loving your inspiration of going balls out. Man, if I had the finances, sure! That's slick! I'm on a budget though! I'm hoping to do this for less than $1500 total budget though. Hoping to find some 40+ year old piece of crap for a couple hundred bucks and gut it. Also hoping to be able to resell most of the stuff inside it (stove, tables, toilet, cabinets, etc) to recoup up to half what I spend on the trailer...

Yea, something like Breaking Bad, but not illegal... lol.

I like that, man!!!

I'm thinking if I get something 30' long I can have two flower rooms (one on each end) on a flip-flop and have the veg room in the middle... run two 2kw rows in each flower room, and have each row be on a different cycle so I have four alternating cycles between the four rooms...

I'm sure I'll run into problems when I start gutting the trailer, but I have a low budget for this. Looking to spend about $2500 total, and insulation alone will be about $600, plus about the same amount for drywall. Not to mention the floor, paint, ventilation, etc...

I'm looking to spend less than $500 for the trailer. The cheapest shipping container I've ever seen was a grand, and that was only for 20'! I want something at least half again that size, and with wheels so I don't have to pay someone else to move it for me... Toy haulers and cargo trailers are expensive too. Way too pricey for this project...

That's nuts. Where'd you find that?

I like the idea Tank, hope you keep us posted on your develops. Reckon a shipping container would be the way to go, but if your budget doesn't allow for it, work with what you can get. Good luck mate!

Old r/v's are prolly the worst option as far as containing smell and R values. I have a 1993 30footer on my property I have thought about converting to a grow but they are just constucted like crap.mine is full of windows, roof leaks and its starting to mold inside the walls.so those are things to avoid when seaching for your project.but I would plan for another 500 to 1000 for building materials cause to do it right you will need that much.but yeah here in michigan you can always find cheap hunter specials for under 1000 around October, November.
I would still keep an eye out for a big toy hauler that maybe has a bent tongue or a big dent, bad floor ect. If you hawk Craigslist you will find something.gl

One can always rent to own a storage building/shed, they make them all kind of sizes an will build to suit or just make your own. Moving one isn't that expensive as long as you don't move cross country. Around here they rent for around 80 to 150 bucks monthly depending upon the size you want. If you rent many landlords don't mind them at all, esp if its decent looking. I would imagine the size you're looking for would be in the 100 dollar range.

That is my secondary option. I would prefer to not go with that though, as I want something easily movable...

In that case get you a big 5th wheel about 20 footer an go to town on it. The older ones but in the end they are a bitch to move if the axles or wheels go bad same thing about an old camper, it still has to fire up when you are ready to move. Or just go with shed or steel container an pay someone else to move it, if it aint far it should be less then say 500 dollars, I'm guessing. Either way cheaper then replacing dry rotted tires or a mechanic to get your vehicle up an running when the need comes around.

Yea, that is true... Maybe I can work something out with the local guy here... only shitty thing is I neeed a permit from the city. I hate dealing with that sort of shit. Even if it is a "no-fee" permit, why the fuck it is their business what I put in my back yard?

So, I'm gonna end up going to with a rent-to-own lofted barn from aplussheds.com. They're local, and drop off the sheds to you location already assembled. a 10x16 shed is only $3,495, and monthly payments are only about $150 a month. I haven't gotten the payments price, but payments for a smaller shed (8x16, $2,950) is only $140 a month). It's definitely way more than I wanted to pay, but I think you guys are right. The lack of leaks, rotted floorboards and walls, etc will make this a MUCH easier place to make this project happen. I'm gonna make a 10x8 flower room with 3-4kw and the other 10x8 space will be for the veg room with a single 1kw for pre-flower veg and the T-5 over the mom and clones.
