Update 8-15-14
Another week down, and oh my we are so not where we should be prepped wise..., but sometimes that's life on the farm. As the same in past posts still covering the water mainline, almost got the first foot depth done, then a layer of 450' of 6 mil poly to be covered by another foot of earth. The chickens have been keeping us in great supply of eggs, and the rabbits and horse are doing their jobs eating and shitting out wonderful garden and worm treats. The no till lawn has been a favorite conjuring area... especially in the heat of the day. The comfrey has been rocking, the dandelions are indescructable, collected a bunch of nettle seeds which somehow the mice got... whacked 6 of them little critters and fed em to the roosters. They love mice. Temps have started there cooling trend we had 3 nights at 45 - 47 degrees, then back up to 65 for now, the days have been in all areas of the 80s, with one day maxing out at 75. On those cool nights we had heavy layers of dew. RH rose to 87 then would rest at 80, fading away with the morning sun to settle around 16% had one day at 37%RH, which of course is not includng one day, where it just dumped almost 3" within a couple of hours. In fact that was wednesday. Alrighty, the outdoor, minimalist ladies for the outdoor acclimation trials are doing great. The Uzbecki Skunk, dunno..., she either got nailed by some wras'lin dogs, or wednesday from some serious 60 mph gusts, but she was leaning to the side at a 45 degree angle. Grabbed the lady moved her around, felt like there was some major root breakage. The top of the girl started showing signs of heat and low RH damage. Propped her us with a 2x4 and watered her heavily for 3 days, with a lil bit of kelp. The rest of the OD ladies have only been cleared of lower branches to not get hit by the micro-sprinklers. They recieved a watering twice this last week. All OD girls are stacking, streching, and starting bract development. Should have got shots of that actually, hmmm.. if we can work it in, it would be nice, if nothing else, just for reference.
In the Big Green House The ladies recieved 10 gallons each 3 times this week. They are all as well showing stacking, stretching, and bract development, some more than others. If it wasn't dark right now, I'd run out and check but... Otherwise, we are prepping for our war against the hemp russet mites, verified with a 200x scope on Bed 9 Cherry Hemingway x Skunk 1. So on it's way is... OG Biowar (formally called CAPS Foliar), and 25 lbs of food grade OMRI DE. An IPM is coming from Antonio Baccus. Still thining out the lower branches, sucker branches, sucker sites, running out of time for this... so really got to get it done. Next, we have been making adjustments to the greenhouse film roof. As many are aware of the film fucker upper, which only leaves us 1/2" of play, so with the batton screws at 12" and no real excess beyond the battons, we have been restreching the west side roof film and adding screws to a spacing of 6" on center. See it's damn near impossible to make any adjustments to the west side once the east side roof goes up, so we have to make sure it is right. Hopefully this week we will get the other roof up, the cold is coming and we still have many ventilation and heating mods to do. The girls got another flower spike recipe top dressing, a flower tea, and a fungal dom tea.
Light dep 1, cut the first 3 ladies on the 5th, they are under the scissors as we speak, 5 more the next day, and the rest of the crop the 8th. No mold, light green color (genes and warm weather), and so, so sparkly, disco fever. Light Dep 2 got their last top dressing early in the week, they also received a compost tea. As you can see in the album.. OH YEAH!!! The maters, onions, and peppers have been doing well, and the lettuce and brassica starts as well, notice in the veggie start shot the lettuces on the right are doing much better than the left of the bed, which recieves much more hot afternoon sun. Been dipping deeper into the rabbit hole with living soils, and super excited as it's the direction that we have been flowing for years now. Hmmm, we are sure there is more but just can't think of anything at the moment, so till next week. Many Bowls and Blessing To You All!
