10/4.I haven't seen any damage, Ive been just thumping them off. But I will keep eye on em.

That's a leafhopper! They suck sap. Lots of different types around.

Yeah, those are what I was finding around my place, green and brown ones. Never saw much of any damage done by them, though.

They feed the same way as aphids, so you won't see the damage usually.

I've never seen katydids as a problem.
@fishwhistle: you said you caught them "munching buds".
I've found, like ken said, that they just eat large leaves;
and they don't eat a whole bunch, like grasshoppers do--
I still get 'em out of the garden if I can tho...

So far these little bastards are just taking out big leaves.

Mine just take out fan leaves also,no buds so far but LOTS of fans,the katydids i have are a little different looking than yours.

i usually see them in the summertime around where i live hanging out in the veggie garden...
