Ok so there is a catpiss thread so I figured wtf... I had this strain around 2000 or so and had it for years. Really unique terp profile. Actually kinda dog poohey. More of a hint of a suggestion that is reminiscent of. I've seen it a few times since so I know it's still around. Real potent and super resinous.

I'm currently running a pack of MNS Masterkush x Skunk and it has the same poohey profile. Nice blast from the past. Of course the structure is nothing close to the Dogshit. The Dogshit I remember was more of a lanky plant with nice round little resin ball looking flowers. The mns masterkush skunk is more central cola mini Christmas tree.

Just wondering if anyone knows the lineage of the Dog Shit and if it's really a MasterKush hybrid of some sort. I believe @Nspecta has the original Dog shit cut. So perhaps he knows what it is or has noticed any other plants with similar profiles. The clone only Dog Shit might be successfully worked into seed form with a Masterkush x Skunk male. If you must use an unrelated male you might as well use one with a similar terpene profile. Seems reasonable.

@zeke ~ Rumor has it that DogShit is an old Columbian x Afghani hybrid which very well could be possible. I originally sourced the Dogshit in roughly 2002 from my bro's friends who had been running it for at least 5 years themselves at the time in the Southern Humboldt/Trinity county area...supposedly it was bred in the area but this is merely hearsay. I lost the cut roundabout 2008 but reupped the cut from The Docta in 2012 I think...he had sourced the cut in the Seattle area I believe but heard a completely different story about where it came from. They were the same exact cut though.

DogShit is a very strong growing plant...with a fairly unique terpene profile for sure...the only plant I have even remotely similar in stature & structure is Charlie Garcia's Panama which I have been hoping to outcross the DS too. Do the MasterKush x Skunk females have the same crunchy rock salt looking crystals...any pics of the MNS male or females? I have a single DogShit plant coming down in a couple weeks that I pollinated with a frosty Lemon Cleaner smelling Pakistani male...should be a few thousand seeds on just the one plant. I figure there should be some interesting specimens that come out of that hybrid...considering, have you noticed the sharp lemony smell that DS will get mixed with the poohey smell?

You got me thinkin'...I haven't seen my DS mom for a minute...uh oh...'shits' been slippin' through the cracks lately. o_O

I got my cut in Portland from some dreads. It's been so long since I had her, don't recall much lemon like about the terpene profile. Longer flowering with seriously large gland heads. Here is a Masterkush xSkunk. Nothing like the DS growth wise but a ringer on the terpes.

I know the same story as @Nspecta about the ds origin, but yeah no one knows i think. I have some ds crosses running now, some banana og x dogshit and larry og x dogshit. Should be something good from them. The dogshit is def still around.

Hey @zeke , interesting stuff. May I suggest try outcrossing to something far different rather than similar. This will make your terpene trait much easier to identify. You may even have go into f2s to have a segregating population but, provided the terpenes are significantly different, it will be less question about who has the trait you seek and who has the outcrossers traits. Think of it in terms of plant height; say you want a tall thai plant.. crossing to another tall sativa may guarantee the height but not the thai representation. It will be more difficult to single out which plants get the thai specific tall structure. Crossing that thai to a short indica will at first give you hybrid results but in the f2s it will be simple to see who has the height and who doesn't.

Jason King published a photo of two different dogshits and said they seemed unrelated, it causes some conflict in the name.

@Nspecta, is the Cali dogshit JK published in 07 the one you had in 02? I like the selections you got going on amigo, i'm with you on that sativa gene infusion, going to drop you a pm where less interceptions occur.

@StoneyPufnstuff The DogShit that Jason King published in his CannaBibles was grown in Alderpoint, Southern Humboldt and was the same cut I had...Jason compared outdoor grown Humboldt DogShit to PNW indoor DogShit and claimed they were different...Docta & I proved he was mistaken & they were indeed the same cut. Much of the information in the Cannabibles proved to be inaccurate but you can't entirely blame Jason as his information was only as good as his source...and we all know how that is.

I've never really detected much lemon out of it and thought maybe you had something else when you said it was the same as the West Coast Dog in that other thread. One day man we will have to sesh and enjoy both together.

Not smoked anything similar that had anything to do with those countries. I've often wondered about this too. Most reports on Columbian I have read do not mention any flavors that come close.

I know the West Coast Dog is different to the dog, thanks for clarifying it to be different also to the dogshit . The dog Nspecta has, he said is the same as the West Coast Dog. Lemon notes in his dogshit indicates something different to West Coast Coast Dog and the dog, nor does it fit with @zeke's knowledge of the dogshit. Nspecta verifies he has the exact dogshit of JK legend, so maybe zeke is describing a different plant??

I'd imagine the "shitty-Ness" comes from the Afghan side. There are a few different types of stank present in Afghans (piss, "dirty cow", rotten etc.) While Colombians seem more fruity/woody and honestly a bit like common ragweed smells when disturbed (hard for me to describe for those that haven't experienced the smell of ragweed... almost piney I suppose)

Used to run the dogshit early 2000's. The story I always heard was the dudes from the san juan islands that made northern lights made the dogshit. I remember being able to take her 12 weeks and it looked like she could of w3nt longer. Legend has it these were the same dudes that made the "pez" as in Lo"pez" island. I have heard this from different sources separately over the years. Could be hearsay, as we know lots of these stories are like the bible.....man's interpretation of what they thought lol....and we see how that always turns out. Ehh but it's a good story.

The Dogshit cut that I grew smelled the same as the various samples found around Seattle and Portland today. I would account any lemony characteristics to cultural techniques. I have a friend that has a chocolope cut that I also run periodically. He uses a whole different bunch of organic stuff on a peat perlite based soilless mix. I'm lazy and use coco/perlite and general Organics. His chocolope has a certain distinct eucalyptus odor added to the profile. Could be a similar type of thing or a different cut. Who knows.
