Clones count but I have had them let me trash them right in front of them to get my numbers back down in check..depends on the officer in the field.
Rec weight is tricky, if my memory serves, technically you are allowed to keep all the weight harvested off you plants, no matter how much but it has to stay where the plants were harvested. So lets say you pull 3 lbs off 3 plants, you can keep it but you must not take it anywhere, sell any of it, or process any of it anywhere other than at the house it was grown in.
On a side note, all this donation stuff with free weed is totally illegal, it is still considered as intent to distribute. If you receive payment for anything in the course of an exchange, you are breaking the law and can be charged. On the rec side you can not even be reimbursed for your time and expenses and on the med side it must be one of your listed patients that you are a caregiver for, not anybody with a red card. You can still give it away, up to an oz but they can not even buy you dinner or a beer for your oz.
