Got the machine running amazing today. It's all about getting the right dryness and bucking it down perfectly

Did you say what you're doing for trimming? Machine or hand?

Im using the Triminator for the first year ever... This is our process so far... We have multiple different drying rooms and limited space so we have to be very cautious of how we harvest.. We cut down one strain at a time and completely fill up one of the dry rooms with the best tops..We want to make sure we stuff the room fully because you can't add anything new to the room or it will rehydrate the rest of the stuff... We let it dry about three or four days with a heater and de hum running and get it just dry enough so that we can buck all of it REALLY REALLY well ( we buck it so that it is in its final form after it comes out of the machine) if we leave to much stem or don't buck it down all the way it won't run properly through the machine... Then we move all of the finely bucked down material into a smaller room with 8 hanging dry racks that have 6 levels of screen each.. We crank the heater and de hum in there for about 2 days and get it nice and crispy.. ( its amazing how much ganja you can squeeze onto those drying racks) 8 or 9 pounds on one rack... Then we have my main friend who just runs the machine and the rest of the people quickly sort through the nugs.... Two people stand at the table where we dump the pound out of the machine.. They grab anything that looks like it needs some work and throw it in a pile for the trimmers... Then they grab all the perfectly done popcorn nuggets and throw it right into a turkey bag... We use a shopping basket from whole foods to put all the littles into and shake it for a minute to get all the shake out.. We had 6 people working for 8 hours and we were able to process 30 pounds :) I pay everyone 20 dollars an hour.... My local friends aren't stoked on that because they can generally find other higher paying trim jobs... But I also buy everyone lunch and will give everyone a nice bonus at the end of the year (especially my two friends / managers).... Ill post pictures later

Nice work mendo. I have to work harder on the proper buck down of my material. When I get lazy, and leave a little too much stem, the stem gets shredded and can pull off more nug from the stem. Very important point, thanks for the heads up.

You re-hydrate after the trimmer? I have been, and it's been making a big difference. I just use my de-humidifier. It has an atomizer, and that spray works great. Trap some in the turkey bag and let it sit for 4 hours. Check and do it again if needed.

@outwest
Bucking is the action of removing just the nugs from the rest of the plant. Most people let the plant hang with leaves and stem attached. After everything is dry, bucking down occurs when you remove just the nugs from the stems, leaving no extra stem on the nugs. You can still have leaves on the buds, but the bucking down is the removal of nugs from the plant stems.

@MendoGiantZ Those black bins are way better than the blue rubbermaids huh? My blue ones are cracking and falling apart and they are only one year old. Those black bins are way sturdier. I picked up 25, throwing my blue ones out this year.

Yeah I just got a small complaint about my first batch I got rid of that it was to dry. So your basically just spraying water into the turkey bag and closing it for a couple hours ??? @Bulldog11

Haha. @Bulldog11 everything you say is pretty much the exact Sam thing I am doing. All the blue ones are pieces of crap so I upgraded to about 25 or so of the new black ones. Your spot on

30# in 6 hours! About how much quality would you say you're sacrificing to the machine compared to hand trimmed?

As much as I want a good machine, I also enjoy having a good group of friends around from all over the world. Feels good to support them to continue their creative and bohemian lifestyles.

But at that speed... Kind of hard to resist if the quality is there

The quality is better or just as good. You sacrifice about 5 to 10 percent of the bud from it getting tossed around. But if you watch a lot of trimmers they are shearing your bud as well. It also does ALL OF THE LITTLES. No joke. I through in about two pounds of smalls the trimmers didn't want to do and it did it in 10 minutes and came out amazing. The shake is also perfect. The girl that takes it from me loves it because it has all the big leaves out and absolutely no stems so it's perfect for making wax or other things. I still have a 10 person crew of local people and the traveling type from costa and Australia helping me. It's still massive amounts of bucking and sorting

Yea, dry trimmers are where it's at. I couldn't do what I do without one.

So here is the deal with re hydrating. It needs to be done microscopically. You can't just spray with a pump sprayer and expect good results. You can take fresh leaves or buds, and add that in. However than can lead to dry trim with one moldy ass nug if you don't rotate and stay on top of it.

With the atomizer, the vapor entering your product is even. To give you an idea, the humidifier I have holds 2 gallons. I can pump that on high for 24-36 hours no problem before running dry. It looks like it's pumping out vapor, however the actual amount of water is minimal. So when you pump this into your turkey bags, with your dry nugs in the bag, you won't drench your buds.

At first, every year, I am scared to do it for too long. The first bag is 10 seconds in the mist, close the bag, then done. I would have to do this 5 times before it made a difference. Now it's 30 seconds - 2min in the mist, and the product has yet to be too wet. Play with it, it makes a big difference.

Then burp to make sure moisture stays even. Then weigh the product. You will up your weight also, minimally.

I think I'm gonna buy a bunch of them. You need to get the Ganja a little crispier then I like for the triminator to work amazing. Just need to hydrate the tote of done stuff right after it comes out for a day or so and I think it will really help.
