Welcome to the 5ecret 5quirrels journey to COBS
are they called cobs because they look like corn with kernels packed tight?
Just got the kind in the mail :smoking:
15 x CXB 3950 @3500k 36v
3 x HLG-185h-c1050A
15 x holders

I got the wrong holders, and my ballast might not be the right model HLG-185h-c1050A. Basically I have no clue what I'm doing, just mimicking Greengenes vids to the best i can.
FYI Cree doesn't ship to my location so i take what i can get usually.

here's the dopest vid!

If your at all interested in LED's you should watch this
i had to watch it 7-8 times just to understand it, it's like some great minds together just chatting about LED's and photons.

aluminum? i tried to get the same dimensions as the tutorial but mines 5 cobs instead of 4 and a quarter inch wider.
You are running the same wattage driver so you probably still need a fan. I went with 5 COBs at 1400mA and got a 4' chunk of heatsink so I could skip the fan.

quick update, these lights make growing easy. sitting 24 in. from canopy, probably could have them a bit closer but i'm waiting for my par meter in the mail. don't want to venture into unchartered territory.

just bought eight 60w florescent UV lights for the last 2 weeks of flower. UVA and UVB combo. 15 in. above the canopy.

Philips TL 60W/10-R SLV/25 $25 usd

QUV UV-B 313nm Lamp (Knockoff). $35 usd

I had the lights on for about an hour before reading:
Because all UV-B lamps emit unnatural, short-wavelengths of UV that are below the solar cutoff of 295 nm, anomalous results can occur.
then i got real nervous that the UVB wave lengths under 295 nm would damage the THC on the buds. needless to say the UVB 313nm lights are off, but i kept the UVA florescence "ON" and running.

The Whole goal was to peak at 280-315nm to hit the UVR8 (ultraviolet-B receptor UVR8) but not i'm to scared to go through with it.

Any wisdom from the community would be greatly appreciated.

I've been using uvb reptile bulbs, and uvb strip lights t8s...done side by sides, with and without....they do make more sticky buds, very resinous...check out my thread.i got a pal on here who has spent dollars on proper supplemental uvb t5 fixtures..he agrees with me...uv does make a nice diff.
hope this helps pal...keiks...
