I veg in 8 gallon systems and move them to 13 gallon systems for flowering. My plants generally do fine in veg, in this case there were a few spots on the roots that weren't perfectly white but 98% of the roots were beautiful, white and wishboned. Their veg will be ~450-500ppm, 68 degrees, 6.3pH. The nutrients will be H&G A+B, Multi-Zen, Drip Clean, and Roots Excelurator. When I planted the clones they would each get 5-10mL of Orca squirted on their roots and I would add ~1g/10gallon of mycostop to the system.
The flower systems will have been dismantled and scrubbed, put back together and run with a strong peroxide solution overnight. After that I drain the system and vacuum out any remaining peroxide solution and leave the vacuum on the water lines for a bit as well. I then fill with RO and the same nutrients raised to 600ppm, I lower the nutrient level from an inch or so above the bottom in veg to just below the netpot, I also remove black and white poly that was put over the hydrocorn in veg to block light when the plants were small. I add the mycostop at the same rate. I add the plants and squirt more Orca on the roots. Overnight the roots go from white and beautiful to a yellowed tint. The next day they are limp, clumped, and starting to get slimy. This has happened to me nearly every run, usually the roots die and new ones grow, sometimes the roots just stay unhealthy permanently and I have to remove lots of plant material to make up for the lack of health roots or just kill it off. I have no idea why this keeps happening. Any ideas?

I've included a picture of my veg roots which are near perfect, notice that you can see one single root near the middle bottom of the net pot which is brown, there's probably 2 or three of these and the rest are nice and white. The two are what the roots look like after 48 hours.

I should add that when I have root problems the top seems to go bad first. The upper portion of the root ball that's out of the water will start turning color while the submerged roots are okay. If I decide the plant is unsaveable and kill it I'll pull the plant which will usually come out easily and all the roots within the net pot will be rotten. I've tried raising the water level halfway up the net pot and using a light sterilizer but that didn't seem to help an I'm back to Mycostop and Orca.

Just Curious as to why you use 10 times what is recommended on Mycostop? The associate at CCH2O told me 2 grams is good for 200 gallons.
I'm not familiar with orca is that a root zone additive. I use UC roots and it works fine with Mycostop.

I just started use of Mycostop and it works fine with UC Roots.

Mycostop and orca is like oil and water... The mycostop eats/kills all other benefitials... That's why mycostop works, nothing else will live in the tank with it.

So if using mycostop don't use any benefits or living things like tea, orca, great white, roots excelurator....

I've used it, it seems to work great but it's somewhat expensive. I used 3grams on 30/35 gallons... Think I was buying like 20g packs and using that on all the plants once every two weeks. Kind of a pain at that price/you are supposed to freeze unused portion/ ideally use all if it at once. Don't know why buy it's not like you can keep it in a container in your grow room and just scoop it out as needed like great white... But maybe that's marketing to make you use more, but that alone turned me off so much I stopped using it.

When I was having root issues from non uv filtered ro water it made roots notably much whiter... Now that things are better I don't really need it. Was more of a bandaid or preventive for me, like I said if I could just scoop it in the tanks easy peasy I'd still use it but felt like with what they said once opened it was 'activated' and less viable when saved

I just started use of Mycostop and it works fine with UC Roots.

That was just a little over the recommended dose given by the supplier.

I've tried it several times. It certainly hurts my roots, they grow more limp with little to no branching, sooner or later rot was always showing up anyway. It would start above the waterline and eventually come down.

There essentially all yellow/brown now with a bit of sliminess. Some have one or two unaffected single perfectly white roots, no idea why they're unaffected.

This essentially seems like basic root rot that has been fucking up my runs for the last year but I don't understand why everything is fine until transplant when they're put into what should be a clean system then everything blows up. This time I didn't transfer a few plants and left them in the veg system. Another 1.5 weeks and they started to rot too. Maybe it was just there the whole time.

I was told that its root excelurator. Its organic and it should not be ran in rdwc. I vege in 8 and bloom in 13s to. I have a 20 site 8gal and 3 seperate 13 sites. 1st transition i did was to my 8 13gal sys and it was fine. Then my 2nd transition was to a 16 site 13. After 2 days i got root rot. Plants drooped n looked like they were thirsty. Looked at roots and they were filled with brown algae floating. No idea what it was at the moment. Next day roots were filled with slime and super brown. Next day, it looked like mud all over the roots. I googled for days and used h2o2 to kill it off. Alot of rinsing and changing res for 2 weeks on a daily basis. Finally got rid of it and was recommended hydroguard. Started using it daily to res and new roots came about. But plants were crappy by that time. Super small nugs and small branches. Then came time to transplant my 3 system. 9 sites 13 gal. I put hydroguard in vege n hormex to prevent the shock throughout the vege up til transition. Put them in the 13 gals n bam same shit!!! I was blown away. I h2o2 the brand new system for 24 hrs. Dumped water, vacummed and light lights dry the system. But still got the root rot. Water temp was always at 68. Ph at 5.8. Used h&g ab, drip clean, root excel, protekt, cal mag, bud candy, n bud ignitor. Other people on this forum were telling me its bcuz of root excelurator, bud candy, and protekt. Im about to harvest and go on my second run. This time im going to switch over to the new cultured solutions line as everyone on here praises it. Not worth the risk of using other nutes n getting this root rot again. Cant wait to try it and i hope i wont ever have this nasty root rot problem ever again. Good luck to u.
