I veg in 8 gallon systems and move them to 13 gallon systems for flowering. My plants generally do fine in veg, in this case there were a few spots on the roots that weren't perfectly white but 98% of the roots were beautiful, white and wishboned. Their veg will be ~450-500ppm, 68 degrees, 6.3pH. The nutrients will be H&G A+B, Multi-Zen, Drip Clean, and Roots Excelurator. When I planted the clones they would each get 5-10mL of Orca squirted on their roots and I would add ~1g/10gallon of mycostop to the system.
The flower systems will have been dismantled and scrubbed, put back together and run with a strong peroxide solution overnight. After that I drain the system and vacuum out any remaining peroxide solution and leave the vacuum on the water lines for a bit as well. I then fill with RO and the same nutrients raised to 600ppm, I lower the nutrient level from an inch or so above the bottom in veg to just below the netpot, I also remove black and white poly that was put over the hydrocorn in veg to block light when the plants were small. I add the mycostop at the same rate. I add the plants and squirt more Orca on the roots. Overnight the roots go from white and beautiful to a yellowed tint. The next day they are limp, clumped, and starting to get slimy. This has happened to me nearly every run, usually the roots die and new ones grow, sometimes the roots just stay unhealthy permanently and I have to remove lots of plant material to make up for the lack of health roots or just kill it off. I have no idea why this keeps happening. Any ideas?
I've included a picture of my veg roots which are near perfect, notice that you can see one single root near the middle bottom of the net pot which is brown, there's probably 2 or three of these and the rest are nice and white. The two are what the roots look like after 48 hours.
