mate I would sit in there with them on any day :-) nice work. In Estonia, we feel the snow, for about 3 months a year...GAH

Very nice, actually beautiful lol.. Is that the name of it or is it just some fire? Asking because I just ordered some El Fuego seeds lol
here she is up top, nice plant, easy feeder, likes her N and Ca and P. This is growing in coco pebbles with active biology and only organics. i am hand watering her for test purposes, everything I grow is only ever a test in this tent. I think this plant is quite forgiving :-) Some thing good for most I think

I have a question for everyone. I'm almost at the time to cut down the ChemDog, in fact 2 -3 Mondays away. I've been reading alot on when is the time to "chop" a crop. I just wanted to hear some opinions

If you have a j jewellers loup, it's so much easier to tell by the trichomes color, then by going what the suggested time from the breeder pack. Different environment from the original breeder, will result in different finishing times as well.

I do it the way vggirl said. Bought a cheap 9€ money-check-loupe with leds on amazon. 60x magnification. Does its job pretty well. I usually wait till pistils turn brown and then keep on checking several buds on the plant, sometimes twice a day.
.

Too late for edit... Just watered my babes... Oooops...
Just wanted to add: you can actually change the 'high' you get when looking at how much amber trichs you have. You should wait until at least 20% are amber colored. That gives you that certain head high. Personally I do wait a bit longer until 50-60% are amber coz I love to be a couch heating sleepyhead. Lol...

Are you talking head color or more generally, eg morning, noon or lights off? I dont go by trich color myself, more on the state of the calyx, if its swollen across the plant, then I pick, I do this early in the morning, as soon as the light pops on.
When and how you choose is personal, perhaps you work and dont have time first thing, other people i know pick on trichs as above and at the end of the day, touting that extra light generates more oil by way of UV protection. This might be true outdoors in the right lamp set up, eg not HPS which lacks UV range.
The reason I pick in the morning? well during the night, or lights off cycle, the plant will sink the sugars it has made during the day, in to the sinks, these being the buds, the blooms the fruits. During the day, the pathways to sink sugars to fruit are disabled, and so it makes no real sense to me to pick at any other time than first thing in the morning. I take me lead from farmers, they get up right early to pick, this is not a matter of allowing time in the day, it is for good reason i suggest regarding quality.

Hope this helps

Yes, that helps a lot. Seems like there's much dis-information out there considering when to cut, before lights off or before lights on. I actually always chopped them after the light period but now it looks like i will get up early in the morning! Your answer is the first one I've found that includes real information about why so I'll stick to that.
Seems a bit like the to-flush or not-to-flush question. Personally I don't. Just feeding water over the last 10 days. Might even try watering with a bit of top max this time. Some say it helps bringing the taste out ... Hmm... Let's see... Thanks again!

Yeah no real need to back off totally in organics mate, so long as you dont have too much N or lots of P towards the very end. I find K and VitC is useful, but screw buying terpinator bro, thats about 90% water right. Sea water minerals are free at source, and mixed at 1:30 provide one of the best ripening agents I ever used
I find just dropping back, but continuing to add 1ml/L of a late bloom feed, I use KAMINO, but i dont care if i run an extra couple of days while my plant takes on more sugar, and if I waited till the tichs went amber..well... KAMINO has bacteria that release AAC-1, which slows ethylene production, but the yeast bacteria ramp up the sugar production and trich density, so its a trade for me.
Taste is personal, but for me, once the trichs go amber, they are dying, I prefer to feel the weight of my pot, so I take it when its swollen and the hairs retracted. I am not sure about the reality of high, in my mind, if your plant has CBD, it will matter not when you pick, CBN yes and perhaps people are requiring CBN to flatten the scatty nature of high THC might have a method when picking amber. Yeast bacteria via ADH1 will enable this cannabidiol collective regradless of the trich color imo and did you know, CBN has been linked to disruptions in sleep patterns?

May be you should take stock of how thoese around you sleep, then ask the ones that struggle if they pick amber or not?

THC and CBD are genetic, not color of trichs, this is only CBN

A bit of information-overload haha but sounds legit... Google's gonna love me today!
And oh, I would like to ask opinions for sure but actually there's only a few people that know I'm smoking pot and I only have 1 friend that's growing and that's the one that gets to hear all the stuff I learn from you guys. He sometimes sais: your expert advice... But in fact I'm just a parrot repeating what you said... Lmao...
@Klintus where you at buddy? Here's where the real experts are... Any updates on your plants? Doing fine with the hps, temps? Yes, I,m gonna lure you into here... Hehe...

and I am repeating others at least some of the time :-) we all learn better together, more eyes shorten the road to success

THC / CBN / CBD Rundown (the Science)

THC (delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol)

THC is the main psychoactive component in marijuana buds, and mimics the action of anandamide, which is a naturally occurring cannabinoid in the brain.

Quick Summary of THC

  • THC seems to provide certain positive health benefits, especially when combined with other cannabinoids

  • THC has the strongest psychoactive effects

  • THC can cause feelings of creativity, curiosity, or excited well-being

  • High THC levels may cause people to feel anxious, disorientated, drugged or "messed up"
THC appears to...

  • Relieve Certain Types of Pain

  • Be Neuroprotective (helps stop brain from degenerating over time)

  • Cause Relaxation

  • Cause Euphoria

  • Contribute to Altered Space-Time Perception
How to get high levels of THC in your buds:

  • THC levels in buds are determined mostly by strain (genetics). Most popular strains these days are high in THC unless otherwise stated. Choose a high-THC strain to get the highest levels of THC. Learn about a few trusted strain breeders.

  • THC is found primarily in trichomes on marijuana buds and (for some strains) on leaves, stems, and other parts of plant

  • Increasing overall resin production in a high-THC strain will usually increase your overall THC levels

  • Harvesting when trichomes are milky white or cloudy with just a few amber trichomes starting to appear will result in highest levels of THC

  • This page covers how to grow dense buds, but nearly all the techniques will help ensure your buds grow to their full THC potential, too.
Having a high THC content by itself does not necessarily mean that the marijuana is great. It's important to look at the whole experience caused by the plant, which includes considering the effects of CBD and CBN.

In fact, the following negative effects of THC are often prevented when higher levels of CBD or CBN are present:

  • Lapses in Memory

  • Disorientation

  • Anxiety

CBN (Cannabinol)

Quick Summary of CBN

  • CBN is also psychoactive, though much less so than THC

  • The presence of CBN with THC may reduce the feelings of anxiety that some people feel with high levels of THC

  • CBN contributes to more of a body "couchlock" effect

  • CBN promotes uninterrupted sleep

  • Too much CBN can make people feel groggy or sleepy
How to get high levels of CBN in your buds:

CBD (Cannabidiol)

Quick Summary of CBD

  • CBD is not psychoactive and doesn't make you feel impaired

  • CBD seems to have many positive health implications

  • The presence of CBD can alter some of the subjective effects of THC. Higher levels of CBD reduces the psychoactive effects of THC, which can be a great way for some patients to get the medical benefits of THC without having to feel "high".
Learn more about CBD on ProjectCBD.org

We've always known about CBD, but originally we didn't think it had much of an effect on people. Further studies have proven we were very wrong, CBD has a big effect on the subjective experience of using marijuana, as well as for your health.

CBD appears to:

  • Reduce pain

  • Prevent seizures and spasms

  • Relieve some types of inflammation

  • Reduce anxiety

  • Protect Your Brain (has neuroprotective effects)
CBD has also been shown to:

  • Have a calming effect

  • Act as an antipsychotic for people suffering from schizophrenia

  • Offer relief for some patiens suffering from Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia and Epilepsy

  • Possibly help stop the growth of cancer by inhibiting cancer cell growth

  • Prevent the memory impairment and disorientation associated with THC
How to get high levels of CBD in your buds

  • Like THC, CBD content in buds is primarily determined by strain (genetics)

  • CBD is often confused with CBN, which can be affected by harvest methods

  • There is not much you can do to increase levels of CBD besides choosing a high-CBD strain

  • CBD is often naturally found in higher amounts in low-THC varieties of cannabis such as hemp, and is also often found in higher levels in auto-flowering strains which are derived from a type of wild hemp

  • In recent years, some high-THC strains have been particularly bred to also include higher levels of CBD
A list of a few high-CBD strains

Many of the most popular strains today have little to no CBD and a strain is usually considered "high-CBD" if it has more than 2% CBD. However, many of the specially bred medical strains have higher levels of CBD, up to 15% CBD or more. As far as growing your own supply of medicine, generally you'll get the most consistent high-CBD results with clones, though high-CBD strains from seed have come a long way over the last few years as the strains are stabilized.

  • Harlequin (clone-only)

  • Cannatonic

  • CBD Shark Shock

  • Charlotte's Web (clone-only)

  • ComPassion

  • MED GOM 1.0 (by Grass-O-Matic & CBD Crew) <-- Currently one of the highest CBD Auto-flowering strains

  • Pennywise

  • Sour Tsunami (clone-only)

Interesting run-down! I knew the main differences between all of them but again, this is way more detailed. As usual... lol! THX! And speaking of trichs; here's some little close-ups of the 2 skunks. I'm pretty satisfied for now :love1:

@Klintus You're most welcome to come over and heat my couch too, soon... not too soon, but soon nevertheless. Yeah, well, I'd love to welcome everyone but yeah... gonna be an expensive ride... :P :p

Awesome info from everyone. Yea I was going off the breeders suggestion until now. Only because I'm growing to my space and I'm growing to reach that certain high I want whether it be heady or body. I prefer body though. I kept reading and seeing that you want all well most of the pistils to kinda curl up towards the flower. I'm going to grab a jeweler's loupe today though. Awesome info:smoking::cool:

Ok so because I'm extremely inpatient, I pluck'd a bud off of the ChemDog. I let it sit in its own dark spot for almost 30 hrs now. Looks good but way to damn early

I.. will.. RESIST.. The only question is for how long... Lol! Have a good smoke buddy! Well deserved! Now imagine that weed stronger and cured... Mmmmh... :party1:
