You got me looking at them too. Bodhi has my attention for now but I want to diversify my portfolio haha.

Diversity is why I planned to acquire bomb seeds. Their regular packs were from $25- $35. So you could snag quite a few at a reasonable cost.

Then the freebies from attitude have added up to quite a few full packs (10+ seeds) of things I never planned to buy so that's nice.

Hopefully as @jumpincactus breeds some seeds of his own he'll send me some of each to lock down in my Vault ;)

He I'm gonna be grabbing some bomb seeds as well. I told you before but I killed a cherry bomb freebie I had and I was really looking forward to that one. Jumpin cactus seeds, thunder genetics...you have the pipeline for the elites

Today's update on The Beast.
20161231 062533
20161231 062622
20161231 062715

After defoliation yesterday she burst back into action. Many new shoots shot up for the light.

So I did some more defoliation coupled with readjustment of pipe cleaners to help spread out the branches.

I tell you training a plant this size requires daily attention, defoliation, leave tucking & patience.
And it feels like you watch the plant grow 2 steps forward then you do your work and go back a step.
Slowly moving forward but ever multiplying the end result/yield.

I have no expectation of what the veg time for this gal will be. I know it will be more than usual. But as of now it's only 46 days old.

Today's Update in the micro tent.

20161231 110601
20161231 110802

I'm getting closer each day to flipping this one. I'm giving the new shoots a chance to grow in.

I just have to be careful. Working in the micro tent I don't have the most vertical room. And I need to account for stretch.

You thought about growing a giant @incogneato ?

You could get a 20 gallon pot and just veg it off in the corner of your veg room for a couple months. Then come flower time :smoking::fire::smoking:.
I'm almost doing that now, they've been vegging for over 2 months. I didn't mainline but it topped and trained em out into 8 main branches. I'll throw some pics up tonight. I don't have a crazy beast like that though!

I did a ton of defoliation on two plants of mine in Veg as well a week ago, and it bounced back wonderfully within 2 days. I have heard that defoliating more than 3-4 leaves at a time can be problematic, and I had taken 20-30 off easily. What is the story?

It depends on when you defoliate.

For example as I lst'd this beast I let all the vegetation grow in. The canopy was dense with fan leaves. But underneath the fan leave canopy there were developing new growth tips.

I allowed the fan leave canopy to be the powerhouse for supplying new nodes with what they needed. Once the newly formed branches take off I start to defoliate. This is because the new tips grow in 2 fan leaves replacing the 1 at each node.

If the new growth tip is not mature yet leave the fan leaf at the node to help it develop. Once developed remove the fan leaves connected to the node.

I think if done right it is very effective.

Today was the day for the #2 clone to prepare for its journey towards being The Beast 2.0
20161231 233503

All 12 bulbs are turned on now.

It was transplanted into the 15 gallon pot I cut down to 5" tall. Today is its debut. It's calculated soil quantity is 5 gallons. Which means it is no slouch of a pot. It was filled with my ROLS.

The short depth should promote a faster drying of the media between waterings over time.

I will train the hell out of it to get it to fit the footprint of its pot. If the upper chamber is freed up in time I will transfer it into the 10 gallon pot and flower it out up there.

But if the flower room is full and I'm running out of time. I will flower it out in the lower chamber.

Just finished defoliating the core completely of The Beast.
20170101 025818

20170101 032117

I removed all fan leaves off the main structure in the core. Now just new branches & growth tips filling in.

I had to let certain new growth tips mature before removing these last fan leaves. But now that the majority are shooting upwards the fan leaves were just blocking light. It was time to take the limiter off and let the branching explode.

She is moving quickly.

The clone is doing great. It started taking off yesterday. It's roots must be spreading now that the soil is drying down.

Runt aside, the seedlings are developing 3rd set of leaves.
They are starting to speed up. I may run them natural just letting them speed.

Here is a picture of the runt through a 3x loupe over my phone camera.

It is a mutant. I'm gonna see if it grows out of it.

I made some oil out of my trim.
20170103 132402

The trim was a mix of all 4 plants (3 strains). Oil yield was 1.5 grams. The trim was 17 grams or so. If I used buds I'd get a much better yield.

Very tasty, smooth, potent, and lung collapsing as usual. The silicone pan I use to purge the alcohol makes things very easy.

Sorry @incogneato I didn't winterize this batch. Wife doesn't like me purging the iso in the house so I have to sneak in small batches while she is gone. So I didn't have time to let it freeze. One day I will.
