Rdwc And Coco Coir Adventures #nobubbles

I'm not a hydro guy, but if I had any form of hydro. I would definitely want some form of microbe population. I'm not a fan of sterile environments.

Would hydroguard and beneficial microbes and temperature control be the " normal procedure?"

I just wanna know what steps you should go through before you decide you have brown slime ?
yeah res inoculant is a beneficial thing
either you have to run some type of bennies or you have to run completely sterile

my phone camera no longer works. Will still have the iPad. :D
same damn thing happened to me

what happened? Just decided to stop working
Usually if you do a factory reset and then update to the newest firmware it will fix the problem
Awesome! Somebody else that understands flashing phones and firmware eh?

Decided to stop working after I dropped it. Just paid $100 to have it fixed not too long ago. Feeling fairly clumsy lately
Me to! well i paid 75!

I ve been doing the hydrogaurd. Im really thinking about running my new system im building to night with bennies, tea, the whole 9 yards.... Ive heard that using bennies is somewhat risky? I think i have even heard you recommend me not doing because of me being new.. Now i got a lil experience and i got 2 systems, so i think its time to learn! Im gonna use the bennies and new system on the mothers that are in dwc that big coco ball. I think it will really benefit that system.. My clones in my other system im gonna just continue what im doing, cause i have no problems with that system! So how much do you understand using bennies in rdwc.. Some are prob better than others im sure... Whats is your thoughts

@rmoltis hey buddy im gonna steal some of your tea knowledge and put it in my hydro... I would say you should put a lil hydro in your soil by getting you a timer top feed going on :)

I'm not sure how microbial teas work in hydro.

I guess if you use a microbe population that has been verified safe in hydro it should work right.

As you can tell I've done 0 research on anything hydro related

A timed top feed sounds good.
Maybe one day I'll add that to the setup.

But my organic nutrient line has chunks and solids I like to make sure reach the soil.

And the microbial and mychorizae populations add floating colonies of gunk that also need to reach the soil to populate.

So I'm not sure how I would allow these things to happen on a timer without filtering or clogging up the system.

Hand watering is still most ideal in my situation.

But the idea sounds nice.

So a few more pics of the rdwc build out,,,, So i got 4 buckets today, and net pots, and kit... Picture are in order of sequence....

part 2.. If you got kit, then both bits are in there, if diy, then u need 13/16 spade bit to make the holes.... There is a template that come with the kit, but just measure up 1 1/2" and make a dot. drill there... Repeat on other side 180 degrees, so that the holes are across from each other. Repeat on all buckets including control bucket.

Ok now you take the pumping column and put a elbow on it with a piece of hose that will hook inside the bucket to the input line.

I think you just wanted to pose naked for the camera.

And then of course we insulate the bucket from temps and light.. After this we cut are hoses and hook them together... Im gonna wait till i get down in the room and see just how i want it because im only running 3 grow buckets and the controller, and im trying to maximize the canopy under the light... One good advantage over this style compared to pvc pipe systems is i can move the buckets quite a bit with the blue hose....

Now here is a little thing i figured out... The first pic is the pumping column from the kit... The second pic is a pumping column from one of my waterfams grow buckets... And i think you can buy them for $8.28... So you just put a elbow on the bottom just like i did with the kit... Understand?

So that is pretty easy eh? If you cant follow that tutorial then maybe rdwc isnt for you... kidding lol...
If you have any questions, i will be more than happy to answer them... Pm me if you feel more comfortable that way...
NOT YOU BOBBY BUSHAY!

Now lets see some ppl build some systems... Technically you could just use 2 buckets, 1 for grow bucket and 1 control bucket... You can add up to 12 grow buckets with just 1 controller bucket...
Just to be clear, the control bucket is exactly the same as a grow bucket, EXCEPT we put the pumping column in there, (thats what recirculates the system).. This will also be where you add nutes/ph/chems, and where you check your ph/ec/temp..... If you got a continuous meter, then you always know what your system is...
Now you guys seen my autos! That is from dwc yes, but also because i can control the nute levels and ph of my fluid with awesome precision. And it just gets better as you learn the system, and your strains requirements... So who is gonna make the leap to rdwc? I will help you every day thru your first grow, my only request is that you listen, and that you dont want to add 40 different chems on your first grow... keep it simple is an understatement...

I need to do that for my second run for sure. I could use a little guidance setting something up for sure. I'll do my research too
Man brother, i promise, you build a 4 bucket system with a control bucket, and get a continueos monitor and you will be flying high! A chiller would be your only other thing you would want to add some day. Ive been using this system all year without one, but ive been using hydrogaurd to prevent pythium...
You could build a 4 bucket system for $60, and the price of air pump.. Another $20 - 30

  • then i have a float valve on the way that i will show you how to hook up so you get auto top off from a seperate res..
