Once you see the leaves drying up you'll know your there.

I am not disagreeing with you
but.........I have never had a leaf die on my plant
even with 3 weeks of water
my plants will discolor for fall to the point where they yellow all the way and droop

but when I have ever seen leaves do what yours are doing
it means bud rot

I do like to dry my plants before I harvest
so I stop watering for as long as it takes for them to flop from lack of pressure then I chop
but I have never let leaves die
even when growing organic in soil or my beds

but that has just been my experience

Shreds the rootballs by hand and break up the soil. Add some mychorizae and microbes to help it break down over time.

Make sure to open up once in a while to mix your soil by hand and keep it moist but not soaked.

and to add to what rmoltis is saying
also run an enzyme through the soil

I would start a worm farm or a compost
and compost it
if you have an outdoor veggie garden use it for that

And I by no means am arguing with any of your experience :)

I just like discussing the difference in experiences and methods.


I'm keeping track of the process with #3 . This is what I have so far since beginning of senescence. With still barely any amber.

As her leaves suck dry her flowers are swelling and trichomes heads are visibly fattening. I'm never skipping this point again. Once ambers start showing up in numbers I chop before they multiply.

Looking back My first couple grows were harvested much too early.
I'm just trying to share the love.

That's tough. The only amber trichomes are from back when some leaves were toasted.

Let's say the last pic today is almost all milky with clears down low still maturing. And true ambers haven't crashed the party yet. %80 milky/%15clear/%5 amber

The first one was similar but with more clear turning milky. Milky was still dominant. %70milky/%26clear/ %4amber

Just remember ratios are approximate.

ya that makes a lot of sense! He doesnt want to see it seed the rest of the room and plants is why he said that.. What he should of asked was did you have any more plants in there you are worried about getting pollinated...

Interesting. And thank you. What about guesstimated additional weight gain based on alloted extra time?

Im thinking you guys are gonna get a headache trying to dig that deep... Hell man hands is still got to go thru drying this plant, and thats harder than growing.... maybe getting a head start on that is a good idea!

Fair enough. But i ALWAYS welcome everyone's opinion. That's extremely important to me in this thread.

But now that you bring up drying I feel like I need a good game plan as I'm not feeling confident. Should i dry in tent? Chop and trim wet then dry or vice versa :D I like wet trimming personally but am open to all suggestions.

Damn another good yet hard question.

Once senescence hit in all plants. The growth rate/speed slows down but you see fat calyxes get fatter and the trichomes seem to fill with more resin.

Id say visually I notice good resin production at the very end yet reduced plant matter production.

So your basically waiting at the end to give your smoke it's final kick of potency rise.

If you are looking for a slow cure.
You leave the entire plant intact. And hang complete

This way you don't expose any extra open points to allow water to escape.

The fan leaves stay on through the drying process. Their water content helps slow down the plant drying process.

You will want to hang in your tent with air cycling at it's lowest rate.

This will allow the moisture wicked off the plant to be carried away and replaced with fresh dryer air.

It will also run all the stank through the carbon.
