so IMO there was a really great write up years ago about this very situation
here was the consensus...
hang dry on clothes hangers together
keep checking until the outside is crisp
then you pull a contractor black trash bag up over your buds and tie it off on the top of the wire hanger
check through the bag slightly squeezing the buds until they soften .....meaning the have extracted the moisture from the inner core
then take the bag off and dry until crisp again
keep repeating this process until the buds no longer squish....they will be rock hard but there will be a slight give as well as when squeezed they spring back out.....
then they can go in a jar with a humidipak and be stored for as long as you would like
they are both dried and cured completely.....
this works very well
there are other tricks like drying in a large carboard wardrobe box
the cardboard will regulate the moisture comming out of the buds
I have done this and it works as well
of course a Humidifier works well but not if you are running an extraction fan then the humidifier is rendered useless IMO
I would utilize the black trash bag and I would hang each plant whole too.
Do not use a fan, esp, esp, esp, directly on them..
My thinking for MW here is this,
but first let me say this,
imo, INMYMUTHFUCKIN OPINION,,
OUT DOO THAT BOYZ!
imo,,,
you can take the best weed in the world, and fuck it up in 5 days for GOOD!
The dry/cure cause to me they are basically the same thing..
is where great herb becomes, well great herb :)
and I dont know the secrets but I do know you got 2 courses of death.
Over dried and mold...
So MW, I would do the bag, and the lower your rh is in the room you hang them, I would not let them hang for more than a day with out putting in the bag.
Now this next point, is just my weedology degree, working this in my mind..
I talk to a guy once about mold on walls and in high humid places, such as room where we kept supplies..
He said 4 hrs of complete saturation could cause mold. That was their standard.
So my thoughts are 20/4 first 2 days
then after we pull them out the second day we judge just how much re-hydration happened, and as less happens, drop to 18/6, and as it takes longer to re-hydrate, the lower you change that, till you feel confident to put in jars.. Same principals apply in jars, but in jars you can put hydrometers to read rh..
that is how I would attack it MW, if it was me.. Like wisher said, many ppl may have many ideas, way better than mine or wishers.. but im with wisher on bags or boxes.. 55 gal bag hold a whole plant tho
