ok, question...never ran autos and was thinking...if u have an auto female, and hit it with a male auto, obviously the beans from it will be auto. but what happens if u have an auto female and hit it with a regular male , or vice versa ?

I would say prepare for a hermie.. Auto's use tap roots instead of a fibrous root like a clone.. They change from veg to flower normally and predict size due to nursery pot.. The Tap root hits bottom of nursery pot and circles and then starts it's flower cycle..

Mixing them is asking for hermies in my opinion..

Since the most common autoflower gene is recessive, it requires TWO copies (one from each parent) for any offspring plant to be autoflowering.

If you cross an auto with a photoperiod plant, each of the offspring will only carry ONE copy of the autoflowering gene (from the auto parent) and you would expect NONE of these F1 offspring to be autos.

If you then crossed two of these F1 plants to create an F2 generation, you would expect ONE QUARTER of the ensuing F2 generation to be autoflowering.

And if you then crossed two AUTOFLOWERING F3s (or an autoflower F3 with any other auto) you'd expect all of those offspring (or nearly all) to be autoflowering.

The breakthrough came with William’s Wonder. William’s Wonder is a very potent indica strain that is known for its small size, fast flowering, massive yields and extreme potency. Exactly the right attributes for a good ruderalis cross. After growing on the first batch of seeds obtained from crossing the NL#2 X Mexican Rudy F1s with a William’s Wonder clone, the Joint Doctor discovered some male plants that began to flower as soon as they had set their first few leaves.

Having successfully recreated this autoflowering trait the Joint Doctor immediately used the males to pollinate the next generation. The result was a success. All of the offspring matured in less than nine weeks and grew no taller than twelve inches. The autoflowering cannabis revolution had arrived!

Originally the Joint Doctor named this strain ‘Willy’s Automatic’. Further research and experimentation was undertaken to ensure stability. When, after several generations, the Joint Doctor was happy with the strain’s stability he renamed it as Lowryder and introduced it to the cannabis world during the first years of the 21st century.

thats some bass assed history right there. I remember it was williams wonder that caught my eye in the old super sativa seed club catalog. Nevil on the back with huge blocks of hash...

Somehow it disappeared... But yes I agree with ya. Here I'll try again..
