I have been growing the same strain forever, and one of the more consistent, and unusual things I usually get, is a little nubb or nipple at the very tips of the main colas. I have seen corn (as in sweet corn for eating) do the same type of thing late in the season, but I have never heard of anyone discussing it here. The buds are usually big and fat, but if left to go on for a while (Sativa dominant...long finish), I sometimes get these things. Anyone else ever see these and have any idea what they result from?

Pics?

I'm 60 years old...you really DON'T want to see a pic of my nips!! Ha! Unfortunatly, I don't have any to show at the moment. It looks like a little green worm type thing, about 1/2 inch from tip of main cola, or colas if there are 2. Smaller ones don't seem to have this issue, only the biggest ones. Its not a leaf, it's like a little smooth green tendril with no leaves.

No...but getting closer. Imagine the same picture with a 1/2 inch green stem/worm looking thing sticking out the end, smooth and bare. Its only on the very biggest colas and pops up usually on older finishes. I always took it as a sign that this particular strain was ready.

Pictures, please. Getting a weird mind mash up of a nipple on the end of a bud, not nursed enough as a kid I guess :dummy:.

like made up of calyxs?just sounds like a little bit of foxtailing to me
Yes, this is indoors. If you ever get corn on the cob late in the season, sometimes there is a little nub sticking out of the very tip of the ear of corn. Its not flower, and not a stem...although it is closer to a stem in appearance, except smooth. I thought it was foxtailing, but the appearance is different. The bud is normal and heavy in every way, t just has a little nub/tag/nipple sticking out of the very end of the biggest colas. Mostly Sativa from 30+ years ago.

I had it on one strain on my last grow. Ill try to find pics. It was white on mine, probably bleached from the led light. It actually looked like the end of a ear of corn where it tapers to a point

This?

Is someone going to put up a picture of this phenomenon?

Sounds like the beginning of heat foxtailing (which is the stem growing past the top of the bud) or possibly overgrowth from too much fertilizer towards the end.

Ill find pics when i get home from the animal hospital. Picture a little pointy piece of corncob sticking out of the top of the cola

I’m trying to picture it. I think I have seen the start of it from feeding Thai leaning plants too much nitrogen. Weird overgrowth.

Thanks man.

I think it is from light bleaching. It literally looked like a piece of corncob sticking out of the top
I concur with your take. Light bleaching. Seen it many times with newbies and gavitas setting them too close to the canopy. :fire::fire::fire::fire:

I wrote a thread on a very like observation.
I concluded that it was stem matter that looked like a protrusion due to the surrounding tissue receding.
In my case I think that it was light damage that caused the surrounding flower to shrink.
