Brand New Grower Trying To Do It Right

Thanks for the answer. I have moved the temp sensor to a spot under the shaded edge of one of my pots to try to avoid so much direct light. Here is a pic of my set up. Tough to get it all in one shot. I've been looking around for a solution to my issue...

I've been looking around for a solution to my issue and I think I'm going to build a fogger. It seems like an easy cheap, low maintinance solution to low RH. I'm still running hot i think, but if i can pump a stupid amount of moistur in there i can also crank up the exhaust blower.

@1diesel1 and @Rootbound and anyone else! i have a question. do you think such little starts should have that many watts on them right away..? would love to hear your thoughts!

read the previous posts--hopefully he'll set one up
more about starting a grow diary! You'll be amazed at how much guidance these guys are willing to give

i thought the "grow diary" was a thing on the website thats public and as we update the diary it refreshes into "the list" and users can click on them and scroll through their (the growers) progress maybe key in their thoughts and questions about what they see.

but i see. it seems its just a work log with a fancy term ;)

no you're absolutely right! apologies. people were trying to convince him to do a diary.

your post gave the nudge i needed. fuck it--i'd like to finally start a grow diary. vanity be damned. how exactly do i do that?

@Kepp89 thanks again. i was hesitant but fuck it. i think i set the diary up correctly...

oh i got no clue man i just have a little book that i write in. i forgot about it after the first 6 days. i just started it back up yesterday

thoughts. predictions. actions. visuals. questions so i remember it later. its all in there now. writing helps to remember, but typing doesn't fwiw.

You need a par meter to test the light intensity.

And thus begins the learning! This old dog sincerely thanks @Highkev . I've just done a quick lit review of recent research and wow! Now I know what Photosynthetic Active Radiation and Photosynthetic Photon
Flux Density are. This is a new concept for many of my generation. We just measured lumens. Now I understand much more...

Some of my friends have a big thing against LEDs. But I was immediately intrigued by lower electricity draws, less heat, no ballast, and stories about double the yield per watt over old HPS and metal halides. Now I am pretty much convinced the LEDs are the way to go--BUT clearly i need the combination of the different LED diode spectrums. LEDs can get so much closer to the plant, and even we knew that intensity declined the further away from the plant the light is. The new research seems to get closer and closer to true optimization. The ability to dial in so many aspects so specifically with the LED arrays has me fascinated. Can't wait to learn more.

Seems pretty intense and close to me. I keep my QB leds 36 inches away to start out. Not familar with the led light he is using though.

OK info update time.

I'll start with my lil seedlings. In my initial posts I was dealing with getting temp/RH under control with everything in little pots on a table.

If you notice, a few of them got pretty goofy lookin. A couple of them were VERY scrawny. Like

Then a couple others grew super broad odd shaped leaves.

[Once I started to see roots reaching out of the bottom of my little pots I transfered to my final 5 gallons. You will notice in the pics that I am missing 1 drip tray...becuase I'm an idiot who cannot count...the last one is in the mail so disregard for now. Two of the seeds germinated extremely late, thus those two not being in the big pots yet. I figure I will not top those two and just allow them to catch up.

In order to fix my RH issues I built myself a cold vapor system. I ddin't want to get a prebuilt one that I had to refill with water all the time, I want a set and forget.

Those plants with the odd shaped leaves are still going at it...being wierd..

The change from small to large seems to have brought with it a complete reversal in temp issues. I feel like im running cool now. The best I can figure is that the evaporative action from not only the increased surface area of the big pots but the cool vapor system is enough to drop the temp significantly. I have turned down my exhaust blower a to 50% in order to try and retain as much heat as possible but I dont want to go to far and risk a drop in CO2 from fresh air coming in.

This is my status from my most recent check

The 69.6°F is from the prob situated in the shade next to one of the pots right in the center of the room.

You guys think the LED's are too intense for the early plants? I was actually about to get 2 more of them.
