This is becoming a joke and a huge disappointment. I'm not sure if others have had a better experience or any at all with them, but mine has been horrible so far.

First, I asked some questions about their lights prior to purchase. (No response.) I placed my order for new LED's anyway on Feb. 10th. A couple of days later I received an email saying they were behind and the lights would ship in 7-9 days. I called on day 10 with no answer and no returned phone call. I called again about 4-5 days later, and someone actually answered. He told me they would ship within one to two days and I should have it by the end of the week. They never came. I called again yesterday in the morning, (normal business hours) and no answer/no returned call. I called again this morning during business hours, no answer... Great customer support? Hell no, this has been a horrible customer experience. I'm now three weeks behind from flipping my vegging plants to flower. They're a joke. Proceed with caution if deciding to use them. I still haven't received my lights or an email notifying me that they've shipped. I'm not even sure if they're coming at this point, and I'm close to contacting the bank for a charge back on the card. A simple return phone call or someone actually answering the phone could have prevented this. I'm beginning to think they're a scam site.

contacting the bank for a charge back on the card.
If you are really wanting the lights call the company and talk to someone, inform them about your intentions and agree on a future date when that will happen(cancel),,, "so next Thursday if I don't have a tracking number- I am going to reverse the charges okay"
" okay"
Unfortunately ,it sounds like you have been calling a company exactly like the one I am employed at . We are enjoying mad success, and we cannot keep up with demand . The money is coming too easy, and my boss is never around. I got six customers looking over my shoulder, and twice as many projects on my desk . Every shift is like an 8 hour sweat . No time for voicemail .
Perhaps the crappy service is because they are the best
Perhaps the service is crap because they are the worst .
If you are dead set on getting the product ; harass them everyday, until it becomes easier to satisfy you- than ignore you.

If you have no interest in that -then bail ,now .

Customers are like teeth. Ignore them and they will go away.

There is no excuse for bad customer service. Period.

When a customer gives you their money they are entrusting you with a valuable resource and taking that lightly is never an option.

I would relay your experience to HLG. I don’t think they want their product being respresented that way.

When I ordered they were a little slow to ship (took 3-5 days) but once they shipped they arrived within a couple days.

I know demand is high and that’s fine but you should always keep your customers in the loop. Most e-commerce software has email features that allow you to send a mass email to backordered customers. I’ve used it myself plenty of times with popular products. Otherwise they should have one of their employees take the time to alert customers on backlogs and any issues they are having.

Customers are very patient and understanding when they know what’s going on and this is unacceptable.

Absolutely agree about being understanding, which I was once I actually spoke to someone. They assured me they would ship within a day or two after I had already waited a couple of weeks. It's been 9 more days since that assurance and they still haven't shipped and I can't get ahold of anyone to check the status of my order. I've tried contacting them 5-6 separate times and have only spoke to someone once. (When they answered the phone.) Emails and voicemail messages have been ignored and not returned.

Every time I’ve called Rapid led, I’ve gotten someone to talk to, maybe I was lucky choosing them. Lights shipped (free) within two days of two separate orders (one year apart), I even had to return for a refund some small parts I thought would work, that happened, no problem. Sorry your having trouble...
Maybe we should start a thread on responsible suppliers...

Are you trying to buy HLG boards?

If thats what you are doing call Horticulture Lighting Group company direct. Growers lights is just an online store. Might as well have used Amazon.

Sadly amazon doesn’t stock most of the quantum boards especially the setup he bought.

I had checked into them first before placing my order as well. I hate that it’s come to this but there’s a reason amazon is successful. The ones they do have are usually jacked up in price so at this time I can’t really recommend amazon for quantum boards until this improves. Which it will at some point I’m sure.

Bottom line is he shouldn’t have been left out to dry. I can get some other boards direct from a Chinese supplier. But I’ve not tested them out myself so I can’t say how good they are. They do use the latest 301b led diodes though. But again I’m not sure how well they stack up to the HLG boards.

I dont know about pricing at other stores but i would only deal with them direct since they have their own contact info and assemble in house.

Yes ideally. But they are always out of stock on the most popular setups. They would be the best place to shop but they try to steer customers to sites like growerslights and ledgrowlights for the most popular fixtures.

Sucks as there seems to be a big void right now in the quantum board market as retailers are having trouble keeping stock and the manufacturer is having trouble keeping retailers stocked.

I would start importing an off brand but I’m not sure it would be worth it. The market is so rapidly changing right now. That and the lack of funds to really do it are holding me back. I’ve got several suppliers that bomb my inbox daily with offers and new products. Which is ok but annoying.

.

There 'ya are .
I assumed they were building your product.

This is a production issue.
Dont shoot the retailer.
They are just epeating the same story they hear from their distributor.

Brands get popular, big chains squeeze them by the neck, and they wither up the small guys that made them successful .

Sounds like a Chinese firm, typical of sellers that don't have the product in hand, they get it shipped from China after they have your money. The reason they don't answer the phone is because your calling to see when your order will arrive, and they don't want to tell you it will take three weeks to hit your door step because it's on a cargo ship some were.

I feel bad cuz I’m pretty sure I referred both of you to them. Won’t do that again :-/

On a side note I do have a quantum fixture coming this week that’s 700w with 3000k & 5000k & far red leds built into it. It’s a commercial grow light setup by FGI Lighting. I connected with the owner last week and he said he was partners with the owner of fluence a short while ago and broke off to start his own led lighting company. He’s sending me a demo unit to use for photo shoots and trade shows so I’ll be able to test it out and report back. They are suppose to be competitive with fluence yet cheaper and offer newer technology incorporated as well. I’ll report my findings here at the farm of course.

No worries bro, and they did offer to ship it sooner if I didn't want it assembled and tested. But since I have never done it before, I figured I should wait and get it assembled.

And I'm definitely interested to see how that light performs for ya!

Oh damn actually assembly is a snap. I took my time and soldered the connections and it took maybe 30 minutes from start to finish. Plus I’m a little more secure with my soldering skills vs someone else’s.

Then again i used to solder for a living for a number of years.

But it’s really not hard at all to do if you want to have them change it.

Their online guide is easy to follow.

It’s really just a matter of connecting a couple wires and screwing the quantum boards to the heatsink.

I think they're based in TX. I'd be willing to bet it's a one guy show working out of his house.
