What lights are you running now Katsu? I recently switched to a 6 bulb T8 for veg, and 315 CMH for flowering to cut down on the electric bill. I'm still experimenting with it, so really not dialed in yet. Buds aren't as nice as under my 1000 hps. I might switch back to that for the Bubba's Sis to make sure I get the most I can out of them.

I'm still dialing in the LED's, but if you're not concerned about getting maximum yield I'm really liking the Horticulture Lighting Group HLG 550 v2r. I haven't been able to run a side by side yet, but I think my yield is probably down 10+% but the taste is better and the plants look very healthy and happy. Part of the yield issue could be nothing more than me just dialing them in...

I do have to say, the plants are liking the 315 CMH. Very healthy and lush looking. But the buds seem a bit leafy. Taste is great though.

Very cool project going on here. I've been seriously considering running a cycle for seed production. I love my pre-98 bubba but it's a reeally old cut. Would love to start it out fresh from seed. I'd love to self cross my space cookies too. Making a seed stash of these genetics should really move to the top of my to-do list.

Brah. Schrom x 98. Legit. Speaking of that what ever happened to Schroomy.

so pretty

I started five of the Bubba's Sis. This is the first one to break ground.
She's ready to start throwing down some weight!!! On a more serious note, a couple of my Bubba's Sis are REALLY DARK green seedlings - darkest I've seen in a while. Yours?

Mine are just breaking through the soil so just little milk leaves. I'll email you today. Talked to an old friend who might want to reconnect with you.
Send the Overtokes my way

Holy everything looks so amazing! Sorry don’t mean to steer the thread away from your progress, but I’ve been so curious about a few things when it comes to breeding and feel like you katsu and the others here can help me learn something new.

What does it mean to be doing a reversal? Also I’ve seen many times people talking about a strain from year 19xx, why is it worth getting a clone from specific strains like this? With all the cross breeding nowadays would a bubba kush bought from any seed bank be very different from the pre 98 BK strain you have? Also HOW do you manage to keep a specific strain alive and unchanged for so many years?

I would love to understand the details of breeding and why we choose to keep certain strains alive. I guess it also is shown when people search for landrace strains to breed as well?

Thanks for any insight!

Intuition, guesswork, and personal preference. Keep the strains you love, get rid of the rest. To keep a clone all you need to do is maintain a mother plant that NEVER gets flowered. When it gets too big, take a clone of her and start over again. A reversal typically uses chemicals to make a female plant express as a male and produce viable pollen. The pollen is "feminized" in that it will only produce females when used for breeding.

The closest I can get to Bubba kush is with this corn bread, and I can taste the Bubba really well in it. Beans goin down mext batch. Thanks for this thread, it's like it was your idea

I will post individual plant pics tomorrow. Featuring:
Bubba Kush S1
Dracarys (GG4 x Bubba)
Bubba's Sis (Chemdog's Sister x Bubba)
Bubba's Breath ( OGKB 2.0 x Bubba)
Sour Bubba (ECSD x Bubba)
Schromba ( Schrom x Bubba)
Kaffir Kush ( Key Lime Pie x Bubba)
Xanadu ( Bandaid Haze #7 x Bubba)

@katsu, this may seem like a stewpid question but are you the same Katsu that made the cornbread, and Katsu cut of pre 98 Bubba ?
