Not sure how often I'll be updating this thread, seems like I'm always busy with one project or another. So if there's some down time in between posts in this thread, my apologies.
Strains from left to right
LA Chocolat, Ice Cream, C99 and Lemon Kush this is the first time I've grown either strain so have no idea how either will end up. I have a neighbour who has these under a light and the C99 is looking like she'll be getting pulled around the 7-8 week mark. The Lemon Kush is a local cut breed by a local breeder, she is looking real heavy and bushy.
Substrate is a 50/50 coco/perlite mix, all connected to a drain to waste watering/feeding system. System feeds 4 times a day.
I'm relatively new to Edmonton and the prairies in general and I have totally underestimated the wind gusts here. The plants have sustained a bit of wind burn here and there but other than that seem to be doing ok.
Right now they are sitting on my back porch which is 16' by 8' east to west. Later next month I'll be placing them in the yard facing south to north and for sure building them a greenhouse. Just a simple pvc tubing with construction poly wrap. Sitting on a 4' high framed wall.
My main concern is the size of the greenhouse, having never grown these strains I have absolutely no idea how much more they are gonna grow. Or how much they gonna stretch once flowering gets triggered.
Hoping someone here can give me some advice?
The taller LA Chocolat is sitting at about 63" today, June 23rd. In the drum, just shy of 8'.
What would be a safe height for the greenhouse?
Like I said before, size of my porch is 16' by 8'
Anyways enough rambling, here are some progression pics. Starting from the day I put them out. May 9th till now.
Ps-millions of holes were drilled into the buckets/drums, this was before I ever knew smart pots/air bags were a thing......

Brick the bottom sides to make a thermal wall. Saves heat in cold winters and double coat the panels/ or sheet, meaning do 2 layers. One from the inside like drywall and one on outside like roof and sides. The subsequent 2 layers trap heat to ensure you can grow till late into winter with supplemented lights. Build 2 vents open shutter style front to open with vent and back to act as exhaust. Run wiring , to box outside the unit, then terminate it there, use a 240v feed from the house like a generator style plug. This satisfies the code on not having permanent wiring , it’s a extension cord at that point of time and it’s perfectly legal. Build ac and dehumidifier into the house , Mount dehumidifier up high, install plugs for fans up top. Lights to plugs that is going to a central sub panel, use a 240v timer as the trigger to turn on all lights based on wattage you will run, 240v will give you 2 legs of 120v each at 15 or 20 amps, if higher run a thicker gauge wire to appropriate breaker.

Would 2 layers of greenhouse film work in the same manner?

Yup got hammered with hail, some areas of town with grapefruit size hail!
Every tucked away safely with the greenhouse thankfully.
