Need some advice..

Hey guys and girls..
I'm new to this only my second plant I've had a go at, nothing to serious just seeing what I can do with what I've got round the house. I've got a little Sativa and she's just getting hairy now not real sure how many weeks but she's completely outdoor and only had a bit of fertiliser meant for tomato plants through Veg cycle. My first plant the buds where fluffy and lacked density just wondering what I can feed her to get some half descent buds if possible. I'll only have a local hard ware store to get pretty generic fertiliser from so what nutrients should I look for to help me out.

we're in different countries, marketplace - i'm restricted to the limited range available at the local brick & mortar hardware store as well, so I opted for the same liquid fertiliser (Powerfeed?) for tomatoes & veges which is okay for vegetative growth.

first plant was fluffy - is this second plant related? suspects are nutrients (soil conditions) and/or light cycle/strength, genetics. light looks great in the photo!

can you order online? fox farm tiger bloom, grow big and big bloom (that's what i can't get here), or something along those lines?

Soil is just home compost with worm casting and chicken poo mixed with garden soil. It probably only gets 5-6 hrs direct sunlight a day at the moment we're just coming to the end of our winter 3°C at night 28°C daytime temp. Different strain to my first I think, the only way to get seeds here is if your lucky enough to score one in your deal. :) Do I need cloning gel or something to take cuttings because that might be tricky..

yup, genetics is the key. i found the strike rate with my random seeds, collected from good smoking sessions about 1 in 4 - either males or undesirable females mostly, with the 4th plant being decent.

clone gel is $10 a 50 ml bottle, it does help. but you could get away without even these gels. just get the conditions right - with spring upcoming, that's probably a good time to take some cuttings. maybe the lower branches - then you've done the 'motherplant' a favour by getting rid of some lower/smaller branches, while those branches provides some cuttings. warmer spring conditions, with sandy soil, some clear plastic bottle tops, soft light (ie under shade, rather than direct sunlight or under flourescents) - without the clone gel - does the job.

Powerfeed the red label is what i used....but you're right about when it starts to bud, as to what to get for its fertiliser. But you're still a way off, from flowering - unless its auto-flowering. I've been researching to see what we can get, but there doesn't seem to be much choice for us Aussies.

yeah. I use that Powerfeed Red label for vege, then last year I cut down on its strength when it started to flower - i got about 5 oz of dried nice heads from 2 plants on a city apartment balcony - in smaller pot than yours. i have been seeking some fert but haven't found one to recommend yet.

there is a method of cutting - for instance, you want to cut the main stem of the cutting at an angle, rather than square across - to increase its surface area, and you want to leave some leaves (while removing others) and healthy tips. google is your friend - cloning/cuttings is a common gardening technique. you can get cuttings to take root in aerated water.

a little later when its warmer with the minimum temperatures, then you can experiment with some cuttings.

Cheers M8 appreciate the advice I think it is just starting to flower it's getting little white pistols in all the joints.. Man can't get over some of the skunky looking flowers some of these lucky Canadians are posting. So jealous..

both of yall should check into making your own feeds,check chris trump out on you tube,gives complete instrutions on how to make all KNF product,i got at least 30 jars of fermented plant extracts i made,the only one that cost a bit is the OHN takes a lot of vodka to make it and 6 weeks to get the end product,good stuff all natural made from plants from my veggie garden and wild weeds from my property,if you have molasses there you can make the stuff,just a tip to help out,im a cheap ass and i have bought bottled nutes twice in my life ,all my feeds are the KNF and teas,now for your problem as of now,do you have bone meal there? do you have blood meal there? if so scratch a tbsp of bone in the top of your soil for flowering,in veg 1 tbsp of each every couple weeks,in flower you dont want to add as much blood,just 1/2 tsp and 1tbsp of bone,if you need any help making the suggest stuff holler at me glad to help ,loved you guys when i was in the sand pit estonia folk too great group of brothers,they took my mind off home and we had some cutting up going on hahaah

there is another option,im not completly sure if you can have mailed to you ,but ecompost has a company named betterorganix.com great line of all organic products right there in estonia,andy lives in spain now with huge orange farm,allen runs the estonia store,ive used all these products,im a monthly budget guy and cant buy stuff,there are thread here at the farm detailing and experienced and newbies that have used with great sucess,i cant remember thread names ,bunch guys had several,i will look back and trey to find them ,i know moto had a thread and growing green had a thread just cant remember names,anyway check the web page out and see if it suits you

I don't know what kind of strain you have but sativas are usually more airy then indicas. I the picture the pot is quite a good size but this kind of pot in outdoor isn't realy a good choice. I would use something more perforated with more holes and if it's possible i would use different color pot because black gets too hot.

I would use something more perforated with more holes and if it's possible i would use different color pot because black gets too hot.

Here's a little update about 1 week after the last pics I decided to trim most of the fan leaves to get more light into the middle she's starting to open up more hairs starting to appear. :)

not sure how this goes....it's budding with these small white hairs, but its gonna be spring - where the photoperiod is gradually increasing its light cycle. so, it might start budding like it is, then revert a little later back to vegetative, then flower when its approaching autumn. speaking from personal experience, but again it depends on its genetics.

also, it might be too late to take cuttings - at least until it goes back to vegetative..... cuttings now might not take so easily, as its starting to bud up.

that's a 50L (10+ gallon) pot - so its size is good. these black plastic pots do get really hot, as they absorb heat - so, previous post perhaps suggested smart (fabric) pots. i bought some online, 10 Gal fabric pots for around $7 each - it's actually cheaper than those black plastic pot. i'm gonna use these fabric pots for this upcoming grow season.

looks like you got some slow release pellets in your soil mix (?).

you've done well to get it to grow over winter, and she's female.

the reason I'm suggesting cuttings is that if this turns to be a nice plant, then you might be able to get a motherplant going - to later take cuttings for your future grows.

Finally, it looks like you got a decent size backyard/property - so you might be able to start building up a super-soil. I'm in a city apartment, so I like my stuff all pre-prepared.

all this stuff is transferable - between MJ and general gardening.

Cheers man appreciate the tips I'll definitely look into getting fab pots summer gets crazy hot here over 40°C. You ? at the slow release pettets is this not a good idea..? Super soil area is a great idea. I've still got a few more random seeds might get them started now and have one purely for cuttings .

slow-release has reputation - based on the fact that it releases over (say) 3-months, and at the 3 months stage, plant has gone from vegetative to flowering growth when it gets this nutrient hit.... also, ppl bitch about this slow-release then making it hard to know proportions of nutrients/fertiliser to apply....

our legal jurisdictions are somewhere between prohibition and decriminilisation. my run-ins (on one hand) with authorities over MJ, ended up slap on the wrist. Misdemeanour like jay-walking, not a felony and a possible custodial sentence. in the end, it's always been for personal use.

We are so jealous of your conditions there in US & Canada & Europe.

you lot have much better product range, and prices - bigger market, of course. we have limited stock of goods, and expensive. however, the basics remain the same. it's not just grow/hydroponics industry, this shit is what us Aussies face in almost every commercial activities.

in the end, i just want to share a joint with you.

Hey there just a small issue, overall a healthy plant I think but I do have a little droop and curl in some leaves is this a hungry plant or over heated one.
