Lol my plants are small and are going into week 4. What’s happening?

Did I stunt their growth with too little light or over watering? Is it genes? First time grower here need some advice.

Man: The farmers here are top notch but they are not psychic. You'll need to give everyone a little more info. Since we're all guessing, I'd say they're photo and your lighting is off and/or your light schedule is conducive to flowering.

Autos? Definitely stunted growth. Hard to say why without more info. Grow medium(looks like soil?), lights, light schedule, nutrients, feed schedule, etc.

Maybe try starting with a smaller pot , let them get root bound then transplant to larger containers.

Heres the grow log, much more info there. I was doing this thread on the bus on the way home

Yeah Autos, I think maybe the light was too high for the first two weeks...

I looked over your grow log and noticed right away that your lighting is not adequate. That 350 watt LED is probably only putting off 175 watts at best. You’ll want to upgrade your lighting to around 50 true watts per sq ft if you want decent growth and yields.

Next your soil and watering. It’s been a while since I’ve grown in soil but I remember my plants liked deep watering a with lots of run off. Let dry inbetween and repeat. Fertigate once per week.

It’s normal for autos to flower after 4 weeks of growth its just usually the plant has grown a lot more.

Now for the soil. Personally, when I grew in soil (I grow in coco now), I preferred a basic soil with no added amendments because I preferred to be in control of all inputs and pH. when you start buying soil with organic amendments, the pH of the soil is altered and then you’re again altering the pH of the water you add. It’s just becomes a lot to manage if you’re new to growing cannabis.

When you watered with plain water, did you also pH appropriately for soil? I always kept mine 6.5-6.8 for both plain water and when I fertigated.

It’s also possible that when you were watering, you weren’t giving them adequate water. It can be challenging growing autos as a beginner because you don’t want to transplant so they should be in a larger container BUT you also don’t want the entire grow medium soaked because the roots as seedlings are too small. Which means you have to find a balance that ensures roots get adequate water but the grow medium isn’t staying soaked for extended periods of time.

Recommendations: At this point I would just ride this grow out and see what you get. Make sure you’re watering deeply and letting the top inch or two of soil dry out before watering again. Feed weekly. Get more lights if you can.

I would highly recommend growing photoperiods Next time. They are more forgiving for new growers.

She’s spot on autos aren’t friendly fir us beginners! Still loads of fun though! If I had a space to flower I would def be on the photo train too.

Here’s a link to my most recent auto grow. Ran dinafem xxl white widow autos. Yielded about 4 oz dried from each plant. Genetics is important too when it comes to autos. In my opinion; dinafem is the leader when it comes to autos.

I just had a Dinafem WW pop thru last nite! Mine definitely won’t produce 4 zips but I know that goin in. Gonna check it out thanks seraphine !

What’s the link to you grow for the dinafem WW auto?

Haven’t started one, it’s my busy season fir my small business so I’ll prolly have less time to spend here. But I’ll add it to my grow diary in a few .https://www.thcfarmer.com/threads/mosh-wants-to-learn-to-grow.107682/page-50#post-2348042
Not ideal conditions for sure but I try! Lol you have been a big help to me in the past ! I read a lot of your post, thanx I appreciate all your knowledge

What kind of small business you run? I own and operate a small cut flower farm so I’ll be losing a lot of my free time as well.

I did not know the light was that inadequate, but I guess you have to learn somehow. It does say the power consumption is 135w, So ill probably get a stronger LED.

I'm going to avoid soil next time, the water beaded off and pooled to the sides of the pot and just dripped out there. Plus I want a little more frequent waterings so Ill probably make the switch to Coco my next growth.

The water was roughly 6.5-6.8 pH.

I noticed a large difference after lowering the light so I can tell that was the limiting factor.

I appreciate the advice!

Make sure you do your research on growing in coco. It is a lot different from soil.

I sell fencing , lol lots of fence it’s everones favorite neighbor here! Lmao
One my first ever paying jobs was cutting flowers! Mostly gladiolas but babies breathe and everything in between. We hope to retire with a green house grow of some kind in the next 10 years or so
Oh I’m gonna age myself here but but I made $2.65 an hour !

I went ahead and did something to see if I’ll get more growth.

I pulled the 3 plants the were showing signs of flower and the left the late sprouter there. It was developing much more veg and showed no pistols yet. I centered the light and dropped it to about 8” above the plant. If these charts are right, according to Vivosun I should get a ppfd of 1200-1300. Also, if I am reading this right lol. I didn’t want to spend anymore time or energy (literally) on 3 other plants with out trying to get some improvement out of my grow.

On a side not I think I may have found a way to make cannabis boutonnières for weddings of that becomes a thing.
