Do you know the TDS or ec of water after adding nutes in? What kind of water? Tap, Ro, rain?

What's the pH of your runoff water? What do you ph your water to after adding all the nutes before you water?
I haven’t tested my runoff yet as I haven’t been giving a ton of water yet. I usually ph them to 7 but sometimes I don’t ph cause I don’t know if I trust my ph down.

No I’m not sure what those two things do for the plant either. I’m assuming I’d need like a blue lab pen or something to find all that stuff out

Yeah or an amazon one for 20$ is what I use TDS is total dissolved solids. Or ec is electrical conductivity. Basically the same things measured differently. I have an hm TDS ec temp meter and a seperate ph pen for my dwc.

Ph at 6-6.5 at 7 you could be locking out calcium and magnesium. Even boron lower your ph nect watering.

I assume the soil your using would have some ph buffers to possibably deal with that. You use tap water? In my town of Cambridge Ontario my tap water has a starting TDS of 750 most don't have that high a reading after they mix in the nutes so my opinion Ontario tap water is no no

I’m in ottawa. Is tds similar to ppm. I also boil my water before to get rid of a bit of chlorine for microbes but idk if that’s a waste of time.

With plants that big you should be watering till you get 15%or so runoff that saturateds the soil then you wait till that pot its in is nice and light to lift before watering again. So your watering every 3-4days depending of course. Best way to do it is fill another pot with dry soil and wait till your plant gets as light as the pot with dry soil in it.

I haven’t watered in about 5 days probably. Also on a side note. Do u think tnb naturals down is good for ph down cause I don’t want to harm the roots or microbes. I also don’t want it to build up in the soil

If using tap water let it sit for 24hours to off gas chlorine. Don't know if boiling is worth it. You could get a rain barrel and harvest rain water. That's what I'm doing now already got more than I can use right now.

Yes TDS is measured in ppm.

Did you buy it from a green house store? If it's made for plants and actually brings the pH down it's should be fine. What kind of acid did you say I think mine is phosphoric acid. I think

That ph down is said to be safe to use in aqua phonics so won't hurt fish it's all natural non caustic. I'd say it's just what you wanna use for ph adjustments it good stuff or sound like it.

Haha I’m such an idiot about the tds thing. I’m gonna buy a rain barrel too because it will save me so much time from having to dechorinate. I’m gonna follow what u told me and lower heat and for now would you say just go for only water for the next while?

tnb naturals is good stuff. I like to use their co2 can

I don't ph my input water anymore unless my run off says I need to. I ended up with problems from ph ing my input to 6.5 ish. The ph down stuff built up in the soil so my runoff ph ended up at 4.8 because I kept adding ph down to my liquid input. Now I check runoff on each feed/water to see what conditions the soil is in.

I'm new to the ppm meter too but I find it invaluable now to see how much nutrients are in the soil and I can adjust up or down on the next feedings depending on where the ppm readings are at.

late but happy 4/20

That is legit my fear and why I didn’t want to use ph down too often. What type of ph down do u have. I also think I might be showing possible mag deficiencies and that could be cause the ph is too high so idk what to do.

I think you need to get a ph meter asap and test your runoff to see where you stand. Ph fluctuations are the cause of a lot of problems. You really need to test your soil to know where you're at.If they were small I'd suggest replanting them in fresh soil. Carefully shake lose soil off the roots when dry enough to do so and put in new soil. It will go through shock because of the rough handling but will recover. If they're too big its too hard to do by yourself and the shock might do more harm than good at that point. ( hermies with heavy shock possible)

I’ll test my runoff next water. I also can’t transplant them as she is beginning to fill her 5 gal. I am thinking of biting the bullet and getting a ph pen but there is so much maintenance, I don’t want to have to calibrate all the time and I don’t know how good the cheap ones on amazon are.

Mine works fine. I only calibrate it once twice a year. Make sure if you order one that it comes with the ph buffers to calibrate. the first one I ordered didn't have the stuff so i sent it back. Same price for one with it as one without.

So are the blue lab ones ripoffs? Cause a lot of people recommend them but 200$ is ridiculous.

Also about the plants. It looks like the leaves are burning more but not from the tip, it’s like patches on the leaves. Is this from salt buildup?
