Hello Hindu Kush auto will be my first grow ( doing 3 plants )

I have read into topping and was wondering if topping would be good for this strain for maximising yields ?

Thanks :)

I brought this auto seeds as it’s my first time growing and heard this one is quite resilient to mistakes

The reason I ask, is because auto seeds are the absolute worst. Specially if you want high yields and to top/train them.

Autoflower is the addition of ruderalis automatic flowering gene (amongst other non desirable ones) in to the indica sativa genetics.

This makes them much worse in almost every aspect of growing. They are smaller, they dont do well with topping and training, they flower when they flower, you dont get to choose. So while normally you would top or train plants, an auto is going to flower soon. Always soon. No time for any real training, topping or anything like that. You cant clone them, you cant keep a mother, they hermaph if you sneeze too loud in the room next to them.. they are just bad. They tend to be pickier and less forgiving too, making it a horrible beginner's plant.

Now that you have them though. No I wouldn't top them, over heat them, over water them or over feed them. Or under heat, under water or underfeed them either. Cause they will shit the bed on you in a heartbeat.

Sorry to be a downer, but autoflower is one of my triggers 🤣

as cube said. Cant really do a whole lot of training to an auto. The goal is to not stress them. They do everything on their own so they are like the Ronco Showtime of the bud world. "set it and forget it". But i mean you still want to care for it. Just barely with water. even with nutes you can risk stunting it which can be the difference between a few popcorn buds and a nice cola. i tend to do autos as my hold me over smoke to get me through to my real season. if i get a zip dried im happy. if i get enough to taste a strain im happy. I never expect much and even then they will either take off or decide to ride the slow bus and they flower and its just stringy popcorn buds. Not to say one cant do well with autos. Lots of it i think is the genetics. Lots of breeders in my opinion make auto strains for the popularity of the strain name. Not because it would make a good auto strain. But there are some really nice auto strains. (before someone attacks me thinking im saying all autos are bad). Just to the point of autos and your post. You dont want to stress them since every day is the auto clock ticking down to be done. topping it would just potentially remove your best chance at your best bud. But then again im sure in the realm of possibility there are growers that have had a successful attempt at just about everything we can do, but with far more people failing than succeeding im sure on something like this.

Lol least I know for next time

If you do t want the hassle of sexing the plants, you can get feminized seeds. But regular seeds are nice if you plan on doing any breeding. 👍

I get that some auto strain might be more lenient than others. But they shouldn't need to be lenient to begin with. I've heard the no time for a full grow argument, but you can also treat a regular seed like an auto. It will also grow to about the same size and yield. Without all the downsides of autoflower genetics.

I dont see any use for them from a growers perspective.

I’d be happy even to get 10g out of each plant if that’s even possible with these lol, so yeah I’ve got some nutes (biobizz) so I might try one with little amounts

Autos are light feeders. Go easy on the nutes. Btw I have smoked some straight fire that was an auto. So don’t get discouraged and happy grows.
BurnZ
😵💨🚀

So if I were to go by the chart should I half the amounts of each nute

I’d start extremely low and read the plant. See how they take to low doses and work from there.

Thank you for the information , I’ll grow these seeds see how they turn out I’ll most likely make a diary too, and will move away from autos after lol

Oh I should have said it before. But ofc you can get good bud from auto. The end product is as far as I can tell, just as good as regular stuff. Dont be discouraged, 10g a plant should be easily obtainable if you have enough light.

Hey @Ryynbn don't get too discouraged, I did the same thing and chose feminized autos for my first grow thinking it would make it easier the first time around if I didn't have to mess with light timers, deciding when to flip, etc. I did top mine once and got away with it, but also nearly killed my plants a few times making first timer mistakes. One plant has endured well and has some promising colas growing now. The other, I suspect, will be lucky to produce much consumable flower. The term "popcorn buds" is a great description for it's current growth state.

Good luck on your grow! 😎

I run autos because I can’t get a good light seal for a good dark period, I agree that’s they not beginner friendly, I don’t like it when growers hTe on em, I understand why for sure because t everyone got to start somewhere so don’t be discouraged tell us your grow medium, lights, ect. And the farm will get ya thru and just to give ya some hope I pull 2-3 dried ounces off most plants, some are small just don’t expect a huge haul.
