Pic 1 is a pick of the tub. 27 gallon and modular. I can have up to 6 hooked up at a time. Right now I have 4 hooked up, just using 2 tubs at the moment..

Pic 2 is my 1/3 hp chiller I can use up to a 500 gph pump to circulate. I am using a 185 gph pump ATM. The tubs are 27 gallon I use about 20 -22 of it. The box on top is the ballast for the UV sterilizer you can see in the used port. The other port is for a heater I will never need, lol.

Pic 3 The chiller is located in the room nex to this one, so the lines go thru the wall.

Pic 4 & 5 Tub girls.. On the left is a Bossman Urkle and the taller one on ther right is a Pre-98 Bubba Kush

11 something at homedepot!

How do you like the tubs? I really like them!

the same home depot baby, when they first came out they was $20, i think they are the best tub out and for only $10 bucks, i didnt mind paying $20 years ago..have you seen the big boy 50 gal for $50 thought of using it for my res....

Are you talking abnout the pond liners or something else? I guess I need to be on the lookout next time I go!!

Nice Setup and bud shots!!! Those are huge tubs! Can you educate me on the DWC and Tub setup? I've recently begun to appreciate the DWC 5 gal buckets to isolate one strain from others. I'd imagine that running a circulating setup several plants of the same strain would make sense too...

I use the tubs to stand alone veg as well. You just top off with the tubs in veg every week or so. As long as you sterilized the tub real well with isopropl, then you should not get any nasties growing. With these tubs, there is also no need for panda over the top. The lids are that thick!

The first pic you can see the basic parts. It seemed so simple to cut the bottom 1/3 of the bucket off and stuff it thru a hole in the lid. Use the netpot lids that hydro stores have for 5 gallon buckets because they are sooo strong.

Here is the trick to making them in 10 min or less a piece. Outline your hole on the lid. You want to make sure that the bucket will go all the way down to the reinforcement. The home depot buckets are best for this and at 2.28 a piece, you don't feel bad murdering the damn thing. Ok so cut your hole I use a scroll saw.. Now before you cut the bucket, cram the bucket thru the hole, adjust hole as necessary. I did not use glue on any of mu buckets, its all inteference fit.

Now once you have you bucket attached to the lid firmly, cut the bucket off about 3-4 inches under the lid. Not too close because it might pop out (dunno never tested it, lol). Ok, thats it! Route your air hoses and mount your air stones and its a stand alone tub girl...

Awesome DIY Lost!!! Just wondering whether there's a way to recreate it on a smaller scale for veg... Seems as though those buckets are pretty large when the plants are small, so the amount of nutes used could be reduced; then when the plants are huge they can be transferred... guess that all depends on available lights and space. ;)

hey lost I dig the set up brother. Im not sure if its the case or not but one thing i notice is there is probably a gap between the water level in the tubs and the roots from the bottom of that mesh pot? If there is

One problem with this is something called ropeing, where roots tangle together and kinda like a rope. it slows the growth way down, Doubleds spoke of this in one of his first threads.

actually i can see the water line looks like those tubs are pretty full.

yes, i know exactly what you are talking about. They run very full. Tons of problems if the water level drops too much :) (never knew it had a name, great info!!!)

Shady - I really want to experiment and see If i can get 2 buckets in one tub. If so for veg, that would rock. I would have say 3 tubs - 6 plants and take the best 4 from the lot.. Veg under a 600..

Heh, what do you know? The lid fits 2 buckets... Ill post up what a 2 in one looks like as soon as I get it built...

Hmmm... 2 buckets and plants in the same tub and roping would be bad if one outgrew the other, but if they are both clones from the same cut that sounds like it should work. I just started that DWC recently and have set my water line just below my pot. Maybe you could do the two bucket idea in a shallow tub that accepts the same lid and then switch to the large tub when necessary... Just me thinkin' a bit. ;)

The thing is I want to get my clones into the netpot lid asap with as few transplants as possible. Im thinking it would make life easier just to veg them in these for say... 5 weeks under a 600, maybe four?? I just pull up the lid, disconnect the airstone lines tangled in the rootmass and over to a familiar environment, just with better flow, more oxygen, etc.. Thats what I have been doing but need to get at least 4 going at a time. @ tubs VS 4 tubs is ALOT of space. And I think for the short poriod of time is will be ok right? I mean in the four weeks im just trying to get a solid amount of roots to the water... Do you think it would be ok? The strain would be 98 Bubba? HELP!! HELP!!! lol

Seriously, any and all input is appreciated. They would go from these tubs str8 into my recirc system, that is 4 tubs atm.. I will add tubs later after I get it dialed. Im on my 2nd flower with this setup. When I set this up originally when I plumbed the tubs together I did not place the fitting on the long end and roots very quickly became a problem. You can see my fixes for that i think in the first post. When I redo the tuba and the plumbing next month, i will have 2 fittings on the long ends so roots will not invade the plumbing. Even tho the plumbing is transparent the water flows so fast they get sucked in, they like it and grow like crazy.

I would like to upgrade air pumps in the future. I run 2 1k hps in the flower room 1250 ppm cos, 67 degree res, UV sterilizer in the chiller, just switched to H&G line but after seeing Bossmans nute grow might give it up after this run for CES.

Also, i have done a 6 netpot in one rubbermaid dub, and everything seemed fine. One of them was even another strain, lol. That was one of my very first grows and it was pretty basic.. My thought is that for just 4 weeks in veg, and hell itll take 2-3 weeks to get decent roots to the water anyway. I hope im right, lol....
