I've had plenty of flowers that tested low but were very potent smokers. When I see 25-30% on an analysis it does impress me, I'm not saying it doesn't. But there's plenty of 10-15% strains that are still very potent producers. I can remember strains back in the early 70's that only had 7-10% THC back in the day, and thought many were wonderful strains, actually. Like the original Columbian Gold's and Red's, the early Maui wowie, and of course the skunk weed.
I totally agree! I grew a high CBD Moby dick plant, which I think tops out at around 9% thc or somthing like that. And most of my friends thought it was going to be super weak until they smoked it and a few ended up liking it more then anything they have ever smoked. I genuinly feel like strains that still produce an even level of CBD and thc are in my opinion my favorite strains. I think most of the effects I enjoy from cannabis comes from the cannabinoids. This pic if the Moby dick I grew

I used to think my Pure Kush strain from 2008 would forever be my go to.. but some of these new genetics from 2020 are quite impressive!
my new favourite right now is Icecream Cake. *Pictured

Yea, I've got a moby dick xxl auto cross that I've been screwing around with, it's a fun plant, and it's hella potent smoking wise, no idea what the THC content, but I suspect it's along the same lines.

It might be a little more potent since I crossed it with the OG Kush, but it's still very much a Moby Dick strain at it's core.

It's something different for all of us , it depends when you began discovering the herbus
Was it 1970 ? , 1980? 90 2000 2020 ?

What were the early stars ? Thai stick, yes Then skunk ? Yes , then hash plant , sensi star , blueberry , bubblegum
Og , sour d
Haze
Cherry pie , strawberry
Durban poison / Girl Scout cookies

Ghost train , and then the kaleidoscope of strains that evolved ......
I think we have to consider what the " best strain " is or was by how it impressed us individually
In terms of how it grows , if we are growers , how it smells if we are bag appeal coonnisueres
And most important how it effects us , and the type of high we can tolerate , benefit or enjoy most ....

Game changers for me would be , thai stick in the 70's that's when we finally said goodby to Mexican brick weed
Blueberry and serious seed bubblegum , when we finally found juicy flavor and a pleasant high ......
Super skunk and mk ultra when the bud and growth improvements began .....
Og chem and sour diesels the next wave of canna is superstars ...

But for me personally , to ask greatest strain of all time , why not include a variety of personal creations , if you really know your strains and you really know what you want from them , and if you spend a decade figuring that out and come close , then she's entitled to be your greatest strain ever ....
So my submission is the original east coast sour diesel , and the moonshine haze hybrid ,
It's got ... Bag appeal , flavor , yield , geourgeos buds and high that's somewhere between pure calm bliss and slight tripy giggles .......
My best strain anyway
If I had to vote on anyone else it might be sagamartha blueberry , sensi super skunk , ghost train haze , mango haze , Chemdog 91 and a few blueberry / amnesia crosses I lost a few years ago ...
But I think to get everyone to agree on a particular strain is not an easy task , we all have our favorites from different generations and personal attachment for whatever reason

I wanna run those beans...

Hey frankster How did you develop Thai stick seed ?
It's a thailand variety called VC Charlie (strong lime smells) Wish I had a clear photo of the whole plant, I don't think I do.

Anyhow, I crossed it with the the frankenstein auto kush, so it's a hybrid of sorts, but two really stellar parents, I think it's going to be one of my favorites. Should put out some as auto's and some as photoperiods, probably 5 foot high, it's not a terribly big plant, but we didn't try for size anyhow. I've been smoking some lately, and I don't smoke many sativas, but this is a good one, for sure.

But I suspect the auto's will come in much shorter, probably 3 foot or so. I got several thousand seeds from that plant, so I did well with that one, and the seeds turned out very mature and look like they will pop very well, so nice seedlings, no doubt. Just waiting for a bit of stratification.

I'm waiting for the pics of the poppies that the opium was extracted from... :D I'm really curious about how some of the seeds on his VC Charlie x Frankenstein Auto Kush are going to push out both auto and photo seeds. I thought auto gene skipped a gen. So Auto x Auto = Photo. That Photo x Auto = Auto. Or in Frank's Case Photo x Auto = Photo. That Photo x Auto = Auto. Maybe I've got that all fucked up because I'm definitely not a seed breeder dude. "This might be an auto" seeds would be a bitch to run I think.

When I first started smoking in the mid 80s the choices were dank roadkill skunk, pine/christmas tree bud and shit Mexican brick. There was no OG kush or deisel. Blueberry hadent even made it's way up to northern Michigan yet. One stuff that would come around every so often was the Panama Red. Man I miss that stuff. It was the real deal. Rock hard spear shaped buds that were rust colored red. spicy and peppery. One joint would keep me high for hours. Those were the days!

I hear it’s gone now, bred out
Thats the common thought. It painted too much of a target on any place that was growing it. Since it was all illegal at the time, people selected the less smelly strains in order to maintain their stealth. So, the strain is still here, but the heavy heavy funk has been bred out.

We need to find that guy in the remote area that never gave two shits and grew stinky weed because it was stinky. It may be lurking out there somewhere.

Oh yea the " Panama red" was a big deal when we discovered her in the early eighties
Perfect description , she was one of the first that we could positively identify by her appearance

I mean other than Thai stick and the brick obviously

Damn ...nice plant , I'll give you cred for attempting to re introduce " Thai stick "
