No it raises ph and also acts as a ph buffer. So you need to usually add acid to adjust ph. When using silica you need a bit more acid but it will create a more stable ph with less drift.
See after adding my nutrients, my pH is way too low for my soil and I use a lot of pH up to get just about to 6.5. I’ve been considering trying baking soda for better cost effectiveness.

Is there a US version of The Grow Room?
Any potassium silicate will work. This is a popular one but much less concentrated. Many vendors sell it.

Ok in a pinch but the added sodium is not good. Potassium silicate is probably the best for cannabis. Not just for ph up but silica and potassium which they love. Potassium helps regulate water uptake

Potassium bicarbonate also works and is sold as PH up. But the increase of silica is very beneficial so yeah I would use Potassium silicate.

Here is a read on ph and alkalinity I did you may find some info useful in there.

Thank you so much! Having worked in critical care as a respiratory therapist, the pH thing I understand. The excess sodium and it’s impact on the plant I was not aware of. 👍

750mg per 5 gallons. It settles to the bottom, but I aerate the mix with a stick blender before waterings anyway. Got a feeling it might do a similar micro-oxygenation thing that the fancy hydro growers use.
I make soap and use a stick blender for that all the time. It introduces fabulous bubbles, I just don’t sent those in my soap. But great for the water going to the plants!

@amekins did some pics for you. This is half dose potassium silicate about 40ppm added to my tap water. First is tap and the second is after adding silica. This is why you need to PH down after adding silica because at that high ph some nutrients will precipitate out of the solution. Then add nutrients and adjust ph again.

Yeah that second more alkaline ph is almost that of genuine soap.

So this is odd to me I had 18 cracked seeds. Put onto my Jeffries as usual. 9/10 cake and chem up and 4/12 blueberry dragon cheese.

The first 3 dragon cheese were nice and vigorous. All if the cake n chem also but the remaining Blueberry dragon cheese are really taking thier time. I think I over saturated the jiffy a bit this time but they are died out about right now. So we will see. May have to pop some more beans if this keeps up. I have 2 spots reserved for another strain bit still look like I may have a few spots open.

Never had beans take this long but I usually never over water the pellets either.

Pics of the ones already transplanted.

Maybe I’m following a bit too closely. I overwatered a bit today after smoking a bit and forgetting what I was doing.

I was just lazy and added water to the tray of jiffy pellets instead of misting the pellets with a spray bottle to control moisture. I usually have them all sprout before needing to do so but for some reason the BDC seem to be a bit slow sprouting.I know better but hey this is a cluster fuck mother grow and what would it be without some cluster fucks. Just doing my part to help other learn from my mistakes 😁.... yeah we'll go with that, it sounds better lol
