I’m not sure I’m new on here mate so no idea just looking for info from real growers not just on the internet where there is heaps of disinformation will take it down if it’s banned?

Later in flower the buds need light. Get rid of shade leaves that block light to the buds.

Thank you mate that’s the answer I was hoping for u hear so many different things it’s hard to sift through all the bullshit cheers mate.

No you’re fine, I was just fooling around. Do a search on this site and you’ll see a fair amount of similar threads.

Ok thanx mate ya had me stressing thinking I’d posted some sort of taboo subject.

I have searched this site about this topic and it nearly causes virtual punch ons haha don’t wanna cause that sort of drama how do u delete threads?

In my little experience i've seen well timed defol very beneficial for yield. Mostly for letting light penetrate to the lower bud sites. What we used to do is day 7 and day 28 of flower and possibly a 3rd defol late in flower if they bounce back too hard and become super bushy again.

Theres def lots of threads on the topic and the people who agree with it all point to similar reasons like yield and light penetration and usually have anecdotal evidence, some even go as far as doing side by side comparisons to support their stance.

As for the people who disagree I don't pay attention because confirmation bias is strong in me 😂

Great reply mate I might have to strip my baby a bit it’s a little dense and with humidity at 65percent it can’t hurt it’s super healthy so I don’t see no reason why it wouldn’t bounce straight back cheers for your input every bit of info helps

I only vegged for 4 weeks it’s just a big plant I understand where u coming from it’s just a little dense for my liking is all

TL;DR: as @mancorn said, the search feature will bring up tons of discussion on this.

Personally, I don't agree with heavy defoliation. Leafs photosynthesize, flowers do not. Simple law of plants. However, some heavily strip their girls, others let em run rampant. Too many other variables are at play, and as such, I avoid these conversations for the most part.

With that, let the conversation continue 😎

I agree with heavy defoliation I’m just talking taking leaves that block budsites I’m thinking I might just leave her alone as I only have 1 plant don’t wanna mess it up next time I’m gunna strip 1 bare and leave the other 1 completely alone only was to learn is do I suppose.

I run on a fine balance. I'm not super heavy for the most part. My "heavy" defoliations are what most serious leaf-cutters plants look like "bushy". However, ime, the biggest differentiator is distance from light. I don't care if penetration puts 10k lumens at popcorn level after defoliation, those buds are still going to be light and fluffy compared to the buds that were hit with 35k+ throughout flower simply based on being 18" from light source vs 30"+ from light source. No amount of defoliation is going to change that fact.

Full disclosure, I'm running a scrog now too, so heavy defoliation is part of the game. I keep the girls trimmed bare under the screen. Above, I take fans as needed for training/exposure of branch sites that will become bud sites.

As I said I don't touch these conversations typically because they become an all out brawl. Egos get hurt, people say dumb shit, it's the internet and he-who-has-the-biggest-peepee forever remains known as a dick afterwards.

That’s true mate to true thanx for the info mate and good luck with ya grow man.

@tobh you said you are running rockwool in another thread i just saw forgot which one..I am in RW too would love to tap into some of ur knowledge sir!

Works good for airflow and to force the plant to focus its energy into producing top colas instead of the small pop corn buds at the bottom. I recommend 1/2 weeks prior to switching her to 12/12. You can still do it in its first two weeks of flower but i advice before flowering so the plant as 1/2 weeks recovery window before the switch. There is those who defoliate late, last week or 2 of flower, ive tried this with no real noticeable difference, so i defoliate before flower and only once

Way past that time line now bud in the 4th week of flower I’ve decided to just let her be this time gunna experiment next time thanx so much for your input though
