its easy bro - first of all cut your plants down one at a time - no sense in it sitting there wilting while your trimming.

I cut it into manageable branches and I trim it all in one shot separating my fan leaves and stems from my sugar leaf trim as I go - then I take green garden tie or thin gauge bailing wire and make small bouquets of branches that are about the same size/thickness - hang them in a cool, dry and dark place - around 70 degrees is good.

now keep an eye on them - im not gonna give you a set amount of days - it just depends on how big your plants/buds and the temp of your dry space...

they will start to feel crispy on the outside - but if you squeeze them a bit you can feel they are moist inside - what your looking for is when the stems start to get snappy - BEFORE they break like a dry potato chip - thats when I cut the buds off the stems and jar them up.

its good to keep them sorted by size still when you jar them - if you dont have jars you can use tupperware (make sure its the good shit that actually seals) or turkey (oven roasting) bags work as well - just tie them in a good ass knot.

so after the buds sit in there for a few hours its time to re-evaluate them - if you put it in still a bit too wet all the moisture from inside will work its way back out and the bud will feel wet again. no worry - just leave the container open for a few hours - close it up and check them again after 4 hours or so.

you could also put the buds in a paper bag for a day and close up the bag - leave them on a screen or whatever - main thing is do not leave the container closed for more then a few hours if its still really wet.

once its dry enough to smoke and it will burn dine in a doob is when you start the curing process - open your jars daily to check them - you dont have to leave them open for long...

usually a strain takes a week to 2 before you notice that curing is making a difference - after that it not really necessary to open the jars, ya know unless you like sticking your face in a stinky dank jar.

before I bough a couple cases of big jars I used turkey bags just fine for the final drying/curing process - its real easy to just leave the bag open for a few hours and tie it back up - the bags are huge so you can spread the weed out so there is more surface exposed to the air.

RJ what do you mean by pistils turning?

Pistil hairs will turned deep red/orange and die back (aka receding into the calyx) when pollinated and/or when the flower has reached maturity and begins to die...

My advice is to not panic and make a big mistake... any damage is already done. It also takes about 2 weeks when the nubbins are green to turn yellow and drop pollen, but this is dependent on many factors such as strain, and most importantly environmental triggers. A hermie can be jumpstarted so to speak by environmental triggers such as overfeeding, light leaks, and other stresses... :sign0065:

do you think this is too much air movement for drying. 450cfm 6" vortex exhaust fan for a 2x7 room. I could pick up a speed controller to reduce the speed, but it that necessary or should I be OK. I am a bit worried about drying too fast with that much air movement.

another question, all the leaves with the crystal that I will be saving for butter, what is the best way to store these, or do I have to use these right away to protect from mold.

last question, this might be silly, but is it ok to make butter nugs with a bit of PM. I did read moldy buds could be watercured.

just turn your fan off unless your trying to dry your weed quicker, maybe leave the door to the room cracked - is it a closet? If I dry in a closet I just leave each slider open a few inches on each side...

if your gonna make butter just dry your trim and store it like you would your smoke.

I dont think you should cook with PM bud - I know peeps say you can make bubble or BHO/ISO with it.

Today was their last feeding with base and bud boosters. In 2-3 days I will just add water to them to dilute the nutes in the dry pot to slowly start the flushing process. On about day 53 they will be hit with RO/ clearex until day 58-62. These are just some rough estimated times so I can make time in my schedule on when to do what, please feel free to let me know if you'd do it any different.

Besides all the problems, the HG is swelling up and becoming super frosty. I can only imagine how it would be if it actually devoted all its energy to making bud.

OG Kush is still swelling up but it has slowed down quite a bit. It looks like primo medicine. Just hope it isn't preggers.

I went overkill on the fans and added 3 of em under the canopy to recirculate air. The PM is under good control, I think I can pull of 2 weeks without a doubt.

I still spot bananas here and there on the himalayan gold, although not like before, it is just impossible to find them all. I tell you I truly despise cross dressing plants.

Swelling and smelling great. Some small nugs were cut accidently, they have been drying for 1 day (OG) it smells fucking amazing on the plant but while drying in a small cardboard box they smell like wet grass or hay.

I am quite nervous about drying and curing. I really don't wanna fuck it up.

Forgot to mention, yesterday I also added a small dose of Snow Storm Ultra, it looks like it went to work because they swelled up a good bit in a day.

I cleaned the stems with mildew cure to prevent any PM growth on there. PM still seems to be under control.

Overall the plants looks very healthy. It looks like both girls will be ready for chopping by Day 60.

I was reading somewhere about keeping the plants in the dark for 20 hours or so and then chop them in the dark, this is supposed to make the taste better. I don't know if this is true, any input would be appreciated.

Some small nugs were cut accidently, they have been drying for 1 day (OG) it smells fucking amazing on the plant but while drying in a small cardboard box they smell like wet grass or hay.

I know exacltey what you mean. The little ones that came of mine smell like grass after a day too, but don't worry when they dry out more the smell matures.

Good to know man. I am at the moment drying some more nugs at the moment, I will see how well I could cure them. A bit of practice before the real thing.

Folks every where are having PM issues, even over the pond people have been getting PM. I think it might be the high humidity because of air has been much cooler, as the cooler air carried more moisture. Anyways the PM really sucks, PM struck everyone pretty hard just in time for my first grow, fuck it gotta deal with it.

Anyways If the PM is far from the bud on a fan leaf, just a tiny spot, how bad is this. I am in the last week or so on the OG and I am cutting off any leaves with PM.

After adding a shit load of fans, I only spot it on a like two three four fan leaves and I remove those.

Do you recon I will make it another week like this.

At the moment I am almost all cloudy and in another weeks I should have all cloudy and some amber, I just taking a guess. I wanna chop the OG on Day 56 (8 weeks), at the moment I am on Day 49. Since OG seems to be the one that is effected by the PM most I really wanna just chop it by 8 weeks, I tested a little unflushed, uncured, 2 day dried bud, the taste was bad but it was potent no doubt.

I will have to dry the OG in the cardbox since it will be getting chopped before the gold so do you think I will be OK if I add a little air pump with a timer in a cardboard to pump out the wet air periodically. How about putting a pack of baking soda to absorb the moisture in the cardboard box as well.

GHS took their HG to ten weeks so since I don't have any mildew issue with HG I want to go all the way to about 70 days. HG still has a lot more to put on.

No new bananas showing up on HG, at least none that I can see. But I know these fucking bananas can hide real well.

Hey buddy, Can you hang your buds somwhere that is warmer? Like mid 70's. I mean if you have a hot water heater closet or somwhere else that you could set up some fans and keep the temps up. If you have any mold on them when you hang them, that shit can spread fast if there isn't some airflow or a lot of humidity. I mention the hot water heater room, because that is where I am thinking of hanging mine. I am going to use a booster fan for exhaust and a oscilating fan to circulate the air. I know the idea is not to dry them too fast, but with pm issues now, I wouldn't take any chances.
