I like to dry in cedars boxes barns basement tents anything I have access too.stick to being cold don't worry a friends dried in 11c some fluctuations took 7 weeks but wow the bud dry was phenomenal. He could not belive he was panicking 5 weeks in. I like to hit 3-4 weeks at my temps. But works colder. For sure

Wow guys some bad techniques here. Don't worry I did the same for five years.I been drying for 20 years it takes 3-4 weeks To dry bud .to keep all terpenes in and get that sticky perfect dry then you won't need a long cure. Belive me people call me up to come help them dry cause
My finish is hands down the best I've seen. Hang plants whole get your room ready before you cut .I start of 18/17c for 3 days low humidity can be 44-55 doesn't matter too much I use 50% then I lower temps to 14/15:16 colder the better and raise humidty,To 60 percent and do this for 3-5 weeks take down whole Plants and trim off sticks and leafs. Trust me the slower the better. Don't panic at all trust me you won't have hay or tea nag smells just the stickiest smelliest buds. I promise on my kids life if you stick to what I say this will come off the best dry and you won't ever use another Tech. I was Doing the same methods you all used til I Figured this out. Met a top grower he does the same dry and we both dry a lot of stuff .There you go thank me after you try it I promise you won't get a better smell finish and consistency through out all of your bud. Happy growing of someone wants me to prove I just try it on a little bit on one plant you will cry at the end the rest of your stuff will be no where near as good. Dry is a lot Of the process. I've turned peoples dirtinto stinky stuff and seen the best crops goes to dirt!
Then do you put them in glass jars afterward?

I can see that working. The best smoke I've ever had was dried outdoor in a shed.

Thanks for putting this information into the thread and welcome all to share nugg curing sagas. I live in a hot place so leaving the ac on that long is expensive. Ceader closet would do nicely.

I’m into my 3 week in jars burping every day for 5 minutes each time . The only way to go I’ve done it like this for many many years always works you just have take your time . Od .
Week 3 and keeping batches in smaller jars because of mold fear and 9 different plant varieties.

4 days seems a little too short, unless you have very small wispy buds.
A slow dry 6-10 days buds still on stems/branches. most leaves trimmed off.
complete darkness with slight air flow ( but not directly on buds).
dry out bud feels crisp, but still spongy.
Then I cut them off stems into a plastic grocery bag.(resin will not stick or absorb into it).
with plastic bag open I place it into a large paper grocery bag and roll it down a little.
then I set it on floor in closet, I check it every 4-6 hours.
First opening...stick your nose in the bag and smell. you want fresh, earthy, floral, sweet...
if its kinda grassy its too wet yet take out and let it air dry more.
if its smells ok, give the buds a gentle stirring and roll er back up.
some strains will change the smell through this but still smell good, it allows for a better transition between drying and curing.
When you go to jars after hanging, and they are not dry enough... they can go to bunk real quick.
But if you use the double bagger way, your buds will have a slower drying time (allows more chlorophyll to be released)
after a few days then I jar and burp...works for me every time. :)
This is my method also, except last year i switched from grocery bags to oven turkey bags. They are thicker and less apt ro rip.

After drying, buds feel dry, but they arent, which is why the curing process is even considered. Some people can wait for maturity, some people can't. I wasn't even talking about the weed in the previous sentence.

"Wait at least 2 weeks"

DO NOT DO THAT ( a blanket statement like that makes no sence)

If i did that here my nugs would be bone dry.

7 days is a long dry time for me. Its raining now and my humidity outside is 66%

Depends on a lot of things.

After 7 days it was put in vaults at 65-68%View attachment 1076479
It is a blanket statement. It's a blanket process. This has grown the world over. The only thing that has changed is people's patience. When was that chart made? Recently? Yeah, people have been curing cannabis to excellence way before that.

curing is to activate your meds....in my opionion it will alway lose certain things if not done correctly. even then will lose certain elements but it will gain others......the things it loses will be certain terpines and color(pigment).gains in stregnth and smoothness from pigments leabing your product. not really bag appeal.people that take it in cafes or clubs do not want cured buds in my view. not for everyone personaly my smoke is cured but the masses like it off the plant but slow dried .to be fair 1-2 week cure should degrade it but the dry has to be done right or the cure will degrade it alot faster.remeber the room temps humidty in the room where your storing it light take it all into account.all these factors will start to break down your product.....just do a really good dry becaue that is a million times more important then the cure. you cant cure bud thats been fast dried (you can but will come out naff)but stuff that is slow dried for sure you can when done right.....als

i forgot to mention magnetic pull ,location, atmospheric pressure and sea elevation will effect a dry and a cure to some degree.dont know if its a massive chabnge.....as i ahvent tested it hard to test so many variants not worth it for me anyways. but i do find higher the elevation the better the results. at the moment im near 2000 feet (all my americanos) above sea level which is 610 meters (eu heads( if my quick math serves me good. and yes plants seem to love elevation!!!

There's more than one way to skin that cat! Whatever works for you. I personally cut the whole plant, hang upside in the dark or a tall box with a bedsheet over the top with a ceiling fan on low. I don't have a set time on drying. The plant is ready when the plant is ready (I'm never in a rush). I trim it up, put in jars (no boveda, no hygrometer) burp 3-5 times a day for the 1st 1-2 weeks, then begin to burp less and less. If you have been smoking for 20+ years, you were definitely around for some mind blowing, classic strains. A lot of the inputs today simply weren't around but the quality always has been.

Good weed has been around longer than ac...air flow, shade and an anaerobic environment in which you can introduce air exchange are the factors. There's more than 1 way to win. I live in southeast Texas btw...it is both hot and humid and running ac constantly can run $350 w/o high wattage lights. There are (hot) parts of the world where ac doesn't even exist and still, excellent cannabis is produced.

Well, lucky for everyone cannabis grows all over the world, really well and with great quality. Alaska, Texas, Mexico, all over Asia, and even in places where the climate isn't ideal, it has been manipulated to be more.productive like Holland which introduced new grow methods.

dude i hang whole too, always, i was only explaning the temp and humidity. but yea for sure about more then one way to skin a cat. i have about 15 racks but dont use them hang whole all the time but im telling you try stretch to 3/4 week.slow your roll if you want the pro dry i aint lying or trtying to mess your shit up but youve put your plamts through veg and 10 weeks or 9 of flower 1-2 more weeks on dry scvhedule your girls will be thankionh you for it.maybe not your neighbiours.my point being the longer the better.mate you know what i love when a breeder gives you his personal select and you give him back his strain but your cut and it blows what they had out the water .the apreciation they have for that is unreal. but wne you cross and stabilise ive had mixed results ive had people get butthurt thats just jelpousy but in so many general breeders are happy as fuck to get somehting bck they had forgot or left behind. hoping to do that this summer with a very shit hot breeder who can easily smash any cup i will enter for him this year a couple of bits and crosess hopefully we are going to collab on. got some crazy terps people havent seen and i cant wait to be at the front of it but in the backround as usual...

The slower the dry, the better the smoke.
The key is to let the plant live as long as possible to burn up the chlorophyll. This needs air to happen.
So rather than burping a jar, I use plastic containers with a vent cut in the lid.
A bit of masking tape let’s you keep the humidity as high as possible for as long as possible without condensation (mold).
The hang dry I slow down with a garbage bag or something to keep the humidity up.
Once the sugar leaves have dried out they won’t cure further, so it’s important to never let anything get crispy.
If you do it right you will have a golden brown bud with no green left.
These buds took 4 months the get below 60% rh. The smoke is brown like a fine Cuban cigar.
