So a friend of mine has been making his own seeds as a hobby, and gave me a few to try out, so I’ll be documenting it here.
I’m limited to a 2x2x5 tent right now, and I’m always seeing people ask about running multiple plants in a 2x2. Personally I feel a single plant scrog is the only way to go, but I wanna try something different. I’m going to run 4 different plants, all 4 different genetics.
Jungle Breath- S1
Watermelon Gushers (cannarado) S-1
Meat Pie (cannarado) S-1
And an HSO strain x Larry OG F-1
Yikes. I’m fully expecting an out of control situation, but I’ve always wanted to try it and maybe it will help others decide if they really want to run multiple plants in a 2x2.
Lighting is an HLG 135w rspec, 2 gallon air pots filled with FFOF with 25% perlite, and Dr. Earth top dressing for nutes. Not much happening right now, but I’ll update as the situation devolves. Here is the setup, 14 days as of today:

I guess the plan is to go to flower fast. You can always knock off the weak/ least interesting when you want and with free seed it doesn't cost anything.

Good luck on the grow.

Exactly. I usually top after the 4th node, and I noticed that when I train the 8 branches out straight from the trunk they form a square shape when viewed from above. So the plan is to strain them horizontally to fill the space, let them grow upwards a few inches, then flip. I'll add a scrog net halfway through stretch to distribute the tops. Only 8 tops for each plant. I'm guessing 5 week veg but we'll see.....

The end of week 4 was yesterday. I’ve been lst‘ing them down pretty aggressively, hopefully I can go one more week at least before flip.

So far Watermelon Gushers is kinda the runt, and the Jungle Breath the biggest. Jungle Breath is an interesting one, the leaves and stems are very fat and beefy, but not very flexible. Almost like celery. I accidentally broke one of the top branches clean off trying to tie it down a little bit. She’s also the thirstiest, drinking 32 oz of water every day. The others every other day. She smells good already tho. That’s all for now. They’re all very happy with the Dr Earth top dressing and not showing any deficiencies or excess. They do droop about an hour before lights out, but that seems pretty standard for indoor. Happy growing....

Looks like it’s time to flip! Better do it now before I really regret having 4 plants in there....

It‘s the end of week 5 tomorrow, and each plant is about 8“ tall and 12“ wide.

The last feeding was 2-1/2 weeks ago, 1 tbsp per gallon of Dr Earth veg applied as a top dressing (I went light figuring there was still some nutrition in the FFOF). A few days ago I noticed some of the lower fan leaves slightly lightning in color a little, so they got another top dressing of 50/50 Veg and Bloom formulas by Dr Earth, as a transitional nute.

Question- rather than top dressing every two weeks with 2 tbsp per gallon, as recommended, I was planning on top dressing every week with half that. Do you guys see any problem with that?
The idea being a more steady supply of nutrients.

I’ll switch to just Bloom mix at around week 4 of flower.

Also they’re all drinking a liter a day now. We just had ac installed in our whole house 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 So we’ll see if the cooler temps slow that down. The electrician is coming Monday to finish the electrical on it. Temps have been peaking in the tent at 84-85 the last few days.

And one more question- Should I defol some of the lower stuff now, or let the larf eat up some of the stretch and defol at day 21 of flower?

The end of week one of 12/12
94816280 6AF3 41B0 93C3 87BEA44DC232

The stretch is in full swing and everyone is starting to show pistils. Everyone drinking a liter of water a day, no runoff. I haven’t checked ph the entire grow. Tomorrow they’ll each get a tablespoon of Dr Earth veg and a tablespoon of Dr Earth bloom top dressing. Amazingly the canopy is dead level. Hopefully no one decides to go berserker and outstretch the others.

I’m not removing any lower leaves, except a few I had to to be able to water. Each day I remove 2-3 suckers from the lower 1/3 that will never reach the light. Just a little at a time.

So far so good, but it’s getting pretty packed in there.

Oh and I forgot- had a few fungus gnats poking around the plants, but they’ve disappeared over the last few days 🤔
I was looking at the top of the soil, and it was literally crawling with teeny tiny white bugs. Uh oh. Got out the loop and on closer inspection they turned out to be Hypoaspis Miles. Whew. That explains the absence of new gnats.

The end of week 2 of 12/12 is today. Unfortunately the Jungle Breath was a male. Not a herm, just straight up male. What I though were female parts turned out to be balls. No biggie, it’s probably for the best that there’s some room in there, but I was pretty curious to see if I could pull off 4 plants in a 2x2. Pretty sure I could have done it.
Anyway I put in a net last Sunday above the canopy and everyone has grown through 10“-12“ in a week. I have about 14 more inches of height before I run out of room and the plants start getting closer than 18“ to the light, so hopefully the stretch slows down after this next week. Still watering the same and top dressing once a week with Dr Earth, 1 tbsp each of veg and bloom per pot. Everyone seems happy, praying vigorously and no excesses or deficiencies.

that kind of praying is good, when they are reaching even more that’s light stress, you’ll also be able to tell if the leaf tips the very end tip will start to lighten in colour, not burnt like nute burn.
a couple very early signs of light stress..
good job! looks good!

Thanks mang. I think the closest the 135w qb is supposed to be is 18“, and I’m at 20“ right now, so hopefully I can be right about 18“ around week 4 and onward. Anyone ran them closer than that?

I’m gonna go ahead and move the light up to 24“ from canopy tomorrow. What are the signs I should be watching for minor light stress?

that is the minor signs of light stress, next could be a taco effect, bleaching of leaves exposed to light..

Ok my bad, I thought you were saying that you were seeing some minor signs in my grow.

Still fertilizing with 1 tbsp Dr Earth grow and 1 tbsp Dr Earth bloom per container once a week. Watering 1 liter of water every day. Less than a tbsp of runoff. Soil is bone dry 24 hours after watering. Temps are 82/74 day/night. The humidity is at 50% with lights on, but jumps up to 70% during lights out, even with the fan blowing 24/7 and the 4“ cloudline extractor fan running full speed. Should probably find a way to get it down.
Fungus gnats returned, so I have yellow sticky pads everywhere and am watering with mosquito dunks. Hopefully that will keep them in check. Happy growing!

Starting to get pretty schwiffty in here. Just starting to stink. Looks like they’re all gonna yield pretty heavy, maybe even 2 oz per plant.
I’m really excited to see how much they’ll fatten up in the next 4 weeks 😬
