So they are losing about 0.5lb a day correct?
It's in kilos
about 5.4-6 Litres a day they're transpiring
1 litre runoff
and about 800ml transpired during lights off.
This is going by the fact that 1 litre of water roughly = 1kg.
These is data for over 1lb plants, in 7 gallon pots.
I also have data for 1 lb plants in 13 gallon pots
And have done 3lb plants in 13gallon pots with similar findings of plant size in relation to tranpiration rate.
I realize most american growers grow smaller plants so things will be different.

I've converted the pot weight to LBS so you guys can figure out by gallons
, you can see during the feeds are graphed in step s as i'm using a cycle tymer (15seconds on , 3 minutes off)

You missing what I'm saying... your not getting the dry back it's staying fairly saturated. I have 0 doubt your plants are killing it.

OH I dry back during veg only! But was using the graph to try explaining how it works.
Yes yes I know... I was just pointing out there is very little dry back. I think I confused ya lol... sorry. I was meaning by dryback most ppl think of the media wet/dry cycle but to me that looked like they are staying very saturated... which is good imo.

@goofy81 Do you have your plants on a scale? How does that work?
Yes, one is on a scale.
It gives you a LOT more control wasting less nutes and stops you guessing.
This is what a lot of dutch hydroponic greenhouses do also and where I learnt it from.
All you need is a large capacity load cell, a hx711 , arduino, and a computer running grafana and influxdb.
Using 7 gallon pots you can easily waste so much water/nutrients doing things blindly.

@Aquaman In veg depending on how big the plants are, sometimes it may take a few days to re-feed in the 7 gallon.

If anyone is interested in the code i use for arduino , feel free to pm. Because its a lot easier to edit a code that already works.

Apologies for the annoyance,
But all you home folks need to be weary of dryback during veg.
The problem is it can cause your EC to go up. A lot of the pros (in greenhouses and the agricultural industry) use it to steer their plants.
Depending on how much you dry it, and a lot of other factors, you need to have a lot of runoff to get the coco back in check to be safe.

I'm no good at explaining things but here is an article which outlines crop steering which is used or known by every commercial/greenhouse facility

Absolutely gospel brother.... the entire reason I made this post was seeing coco treated like soil and they may look ok in a short veg but then it hits em hard usually early to mid flower as those dry back accumulate over time.

100% agree that using dryback properly can make improvements.

This thread is kinda like the windows for dummies. Not the advanced stuff that can be done but more the basics that will make sure you have good results.

Hey all, having a strange coloration on 4 of my 6 plants. The tips of the new growth are purple and yellow, and curling inward. Having a tough time diagnosing.

I grow in coco/perlite. 2 gallon fabric pots. Plants are around 6-7 weeks from seed. Watered 4x a day with an auto watering/drainage system, always to run off. They never sit in run off. Feed is about 550ppm/1100ec. 5.8ph. Very white roots are growing out the sides of the pots like crazy so they seem healthy. Humidity and temps are always right where they should be. Using 3 of the 240w Kingbrite LED lights at about 3ft above the canopy. 5x5 tent. Feed per gallon is:

2.25ml GH FloraGro
2.25ml GH FloraMicro
1.2ml GH FloraBloom
1ml GH Silica
5ml CalMag
5ml GH Humic Acid

And hydroguard for the res. Pics below. Should I lower PPM since I'm feeding so often?

No dry backs... roots at flip from a male I pitched in 1 gal start to finish.

Feeding once a day in 7 gal pots is not going to give dry backs in the least.

High fertigation is not meant for large pots it's a totally different concept.

How much a day are you giving them in a 7 gal pot? And are you getting runoff?
fuck those roots are so pretty.

The way the leaves in the background are canoed makes me think light stress. But my plants get spots sporadically on the leaves with my light stress. However I could be wrong. At that age also less of the grow and more bloom seemed to work for me in a very similar system. Back the lights off and adjust the solution for less N. See what happens. It really can’t hurt. 🤓

Good eye, i was having some light stress. Moved the lights up quite a bit a few days ago, so that's not the issue on the new growth I wouldn't think.

Try cutting the grow and adding more bloom or even a tad bit more micro as well so you are at the same EC/PPM roughly instead. I just recently had to do that. I use the coco for canna feed guide as a rough guide and adjust that to what my plants are asking for. I hope it helps! Other than that from what I can see of the rest of the plant it looks good.

Ona side note I don’t use armor si, sm90, rapid start at all so I leave those out.

I use the same chart haha. As you see my ratios are pretty much the same. I'm going to raise my PH a bit and probably feed a little lighter in general

High frequency fertigation in small pots is a great way to grow in coco. Plenty of discussion in this thread about it.
Just look at your plants, your locking out nutrients because of over watering plain and simple. Some will say it's to much light but the simple fact are the roots aren't taking up enough nutrition from the roots being too saturated and dyeing out. I seen this many times over my 40 years of growing, so take it as it is. When you decide you want the truth about growing then come look me up and I'll explain it in more details. Best of luck finishing those plants.

Again, go back through this thread. There's people pulling 1.5lbs from a 1gal pot using 6x water a day. Coco cannot be overwatered. Even at full saturation, it holds around 30% oxygen. The roots are absolutely covering the sides of the pots, they're growing out the bottom into my drain table. The plants were around 8 inches tall 7 days ago. They're 15in now, and that's with tucking. They're extremely healthty. The "truth" is that coco is a hydro medium and should be treated as such. You can treat it like soil and water every other day if you want, it'll work, but to get hydro like growth, you treat it like hydro.

My issue seems to be an imbalance of my nutrient ratios, probably causing a lockout. I'm looking for help identifying the issue so I can adjust my feed.
