Schwer's First Grow Evah! Planning, Prep and Grow

But I was quick to let her know that one of my buddies on this forum had spent at least that much and probably more on his first light... Ha! That guy sounds like a real jack ass! 🤣 ... Sorry for throwing you under the bus. Oh 😒

Day 74 - Sexy Photo Shoot Time - 4.3 weeks from Flip

This shot makes me think I need to do some more thinning at center height there where its getting thick. I promised myself I wouldn't do any do anymore thinning to give everyone some chill time to plump up, but I don't want to sacrifice airflow so we'll see.

I think its cool to see how many different shades of green the leaves have between strains and from pheno to pheno. I feel like have enough colors in this shot to account for many more strains than I'm growing, heh.

For example, look at Mrs Destined-To-Be-Larf over here. This is the top of one of the smaller BBK branches that I probably should have lopped off before flowering. For whatever reason a lot of the leaves on that particular plant have maintained their youthful green appearance.

Yay, some trichomes and stuff!

I’m not sure but I might be more excited for your harvest than you are. 🤓🤷🏻‍♂️ Such pretty pretty plants.

Thats a huge 4x4
How is your thoughts on this size tent now as you have used it a little while?

4x4 is Great but if I had the chance i would like 2x8 or something. Nice to not taco in there

No, the legal limit is 4, so this is actually 4 seeds in 6 pots. 🤫

Also, haven't you ever heard the old phrase "A camera adds 8 ounces"? My grow looks a lot bigger in the pics than it does in person.
I got 3 seeds in 7 wonder if thats ok

A 4x4 has been pretty perfect for my needs. Any drawbacks to using it so far have been due to me cramming six pots in there instead of the four I originally planned. I mean there's definitely room for my plants at current size, but having six pots did make watering, foliage thinning, top dressing and all that stuff a little more difficult.

Like @Lilolme and I were chatting about the other day, if I could pick the prefect environment (for me) I'd want something like an 8x8 that I can move around in with more room between plants, or maybe a purpose built room in the house. Of course then I would need more lights and equipment to make a setup like that work, and this tent I have is already going to produce more than enough for the likes of me.

A 2 x 8 sounds cool too and I can see the benefits, but I also like the idea growing one giant plant in the 4x4 one day.

I like my 5x5 but I may want to change to a few 3x3s for single plants in the future.

However, adjusting the top circulation fans is a pain in the ass because I have to rig them to oscillate with straps and tape and still have keep them oscillating with full range of motion while facing the right direction. A quality fan that mounts to the tent pole would be a welcome addition some day.
Check this genius idea out. I just ordered one last week

@ajgrows - Ha, that's a pretty cool idea. Let me know how it works out.

Pics from Friday looking good bro! Going to have some nice fall foliage in your tent!

Thanks man, I hope so! It would be nice to get some of the colors these strains are known to have

Day 76 - Drying Plans

Harvest time will be here before I know it so I thought I'd share my current plan for the drying process. I'm planning to dry-trim, btw.

Ideally I'd want all my plants to be ready at the same time so I could harvest and do a super slow dry in the same tent at 60F and 60% RH, but I doubt the stars will align that way, especially since all of my plants looks so different.

My current plan is to copy some setups like @AmokNewb and get an additional tent for the lung room, a 2x4 in my case. I'll move the primary filtered intake from the "grow tent" to the "drying tent", and then exhaust the drying tent into the grow tent with a short length of 6" duct tubing. The grow tent will exhaust as it has been through the carbon filter and out the window vent via the inline exhaust fan. [Tent brand will probably depend on location of intake/exhaust vents, heh]

Inside the drying tent I'll have 1 small fan at the bottom helping to pull in fresh air from the intake and circulate air in the dry tent a little, but I'll be sure there's no direct flow from the fan on the drying branches. I'll keep humidity around 55-60% and temps in the lung room as low as I can get them without sacrificing whatever is still going on in the grow tent, and then move those temps to the low to mid 60's when the full grow has been harvested. I might move the full harvest back to the main tent at that time too if it seems to make sense.

Btw, I'd probably forego the new tent if I didn't have a wife and pets... not that I put those things in the same general category or anything. 🤔 Between the cat and dog hair/dander floating around and the wife coming in and out of the room frequently for some of her things I just don't feel confident enough about the space.

Sounds pretty solid. I would wait to buy the second tent until you have a better idea how many plants might be ready at the same time. In my little 2x2x3 I could only fit one small auto in. But that being said I hung up each individual branch and not clumps of branches if that makes sense. I say this because in a 2x2 I could see you needed two tiers of racks to hang it all. I still cannot wait for your harvest! Exciting stuff.

Also P.S.
My entire house stank to high heaven all day and still some today. So be prepared for that. 🐽🦨🦨
