When I see birds like that I think of my mom. This is what Andy looks like; almost. He's a special bird. Born in captivity, but endangered. I think my mom had him for over 30 years before she died, and he's still basically young yet. I don't know what happened to him cause I don't speak with my stepfather. I know him and the bird didn't get along. The bird is obviously very smart.
I think many animals (even wild ones) can see though us, there very much in tune with how we are feeling, sense fear, or affection, or mutual respect.
My old man used to kill lots of birds when I was a kid, (so did I) and he'd walk by the cage, an say he was going to cook him, and he kind of meant it, cause he couldn't get near it without biting him. Birds are protective, and once they bond with someone, usually the partner is seen as a competitor, and enemy.
