Might be legal, but I don't want the whole neighborhood knowing. I gotta leave sometime.
They would be far more likely to target my next door neighbor because I can smell his before mine. He says that he always has at least 12 going at all times.

The dogs are another thing. Good luck getting past the dogs...

^^ that would be some wild funny shit lol.

Hope you guys stick around for my first grow...I’m sure I’ll need something every hour while I spin in circles messing with temps and humidity. It’s gonna be a nightmare lol. I finished installing the 6” gigantic exhaust fan and carbon filter. Used to have a 3x3 now it’s like a 2x2. Once I throw a couple fans in there it’ll be a 1x1...perfect size for a bonzai Tree. I’m rethinking running lights at night because there will be light leaking through the intake filter. Also thinking the slight temp drop at night, if I run the radiator during the day, might be good from what I have gathered. Hanging the light tomorrow, then once the flux capacitor gets here I can plug it all in lol.

I’ll be fine. The 3x3 fits in the spot perfectly. If I do 5x5 I’ll just build a 6x6 room instead.
Hell yeah. Won’t be long if you get the bug and not the bad ones lol. I’ve quit many times only to have a renewed vigor not seen by many. Oh yeah can we see some pics soon.

stick framed grow rooms rock! Go for it!!
Nice work!

Stick built works very well if you plan to never move your grow location. @Dothraki I can see you building that 6 x 6 within the next 12 months. You've already been bitten by the bug. "Grow Fever" is wildly contagious and can spread rapidly through out your house.

I’ll get some pics up...I plan to do a grow journal so I can reference back if I run into problems.

If it were up to me I’d grow it all throughout my house just simply for the look and smell. They really are awesome exotic plants. Even if I didn’t smoke it I’d probably grow it lol.

My wife won't smoke it, although she sure does enjoy her edibles ... She also really enjoys taking care of the plants.

We've got a small veg tent in the laundry room another in the mechanical room along with 2 flower tents. I also have 2 tents that were taken down and are no longer in use. I can see us expanding again to make more room for the plants ... but I don't really see us growing significantly more plants. We've already got an abundance of flower dried, cured, and jarred. My daughter and son-in-law will be over this weekend to take some of the excess off our hands ...

Haha, that’s great! It must smell wonderful. It’s too bad they cant just grow in the living room. I think if reefer madness didn’t happen and our society was a bit more....ummm.....mature lol, they would be a very common houseplant for the look, the unique pleasant smell, and for many of us, the medicinal and/or pure simple fun and enjoyment when consumed. It’s too bad when it came down to it, alcohol won over cannabis. Still baffles me. When I was a kid I always wanted a Bonzai tree....had a few but they always died real fast. I guess this is me finally fulfilling my objective to grow a magical little exotic tree. If I ever breed a strain for myself, I‘ll call it “Mr. Miyagi”.

Should I get the temps up or humidity before popping seeds? Do you guys think this is acceptable to get germinating and go for it? worried about the low temps. I could put that radiator right in the tent if need be...

You can use a seedling mat with a temperature controller for inside the tent. Do your best not to use a space heater inside your tent. If you can keep the room where your tent is at about 70, you'll be fine. Lights on temps inside your tent shouldn't get much above 80. Your oil filled space heater is pretty safe to use in the room if needed.

Yeah the heater is already in there...the room not the tent. I did seal up a forced air vent right behind the tent so thinking I might want to open it up....but will probably cause the humidity to drop even lower. How long are the heat mats usually used for like a week or 2? Is heating the soil ok for the roots?

Your root zone likes to be about 72 F. This is why you would use a temperature controller with the heat mat. If you set it around 72f on the controller, you could use the seedling mat for your whole veg if you wanted to. Me? ... They come off the seedling mat when I transplant and move them out of the seedling tent. Once my plants are in one of my big tents, they are elevated using a pot elevator to allow for airflow under my fabric pots.

Hey all! Long time user, prospective grower. I’m digging in and sifting through as much info as possible. I‘ve noticed a lot of info seems to be focused on yield, which is definitely understandable! However, I’m really only concerned with quality and wouldn’t mind yielding tiny plants with stinky, sticky dank buds. Only growing for myself I’d be fine with tiny yields.

With that said, are there certain aspects that I can disregard due to being only beneficial to yield or does larger plants/larger buds usually equate to danker buds? For instance I’m looking at the SF4000 LED for a 3x3 tent, but mostly for the 3000K, 5000K, 660nm, and IR 760nm. There is no UVA or UVB as far as I understand...and from what I’ve researched it seems UV can help with resin production in flowering?

My plan is 3x3, soil, still unsure about organic or not. Just looking to get the best I can (sure it won’t happen with my first few grows) but would like to know that my equipment is right for when I get some grows and experience under my belt. I’m going for 3x3 because I’m thinking it would be easier to control temp/humidity than a 2x2...but maybe I’m wrong lol.

Is the SF4000 a good prospect for a 3x3 if only focus is quality? Or is it too much for a 3x3 and possibly work against me? Should I look more into LEDs with built in UV diodes?
Honestly, I think it really depends on your genetics and controlling your environment/ dialed nute recipe and spot on pH more so than the nutrients/ setup/ lights you use. don’t get me wrong, that stuff is important but I know guys hitting 3lbs per light with old single ended hps lights. I have a 4 light room(gavita DEs) In ebb n flo buckets and 39 plants(odd shaped room) and I produce some pretty quality sticky buds Which is very small scale, usually hitting about 2.5lbs per light . On the flip side, my friend is a big grower and she’s running about 30 rooms from 6 lights, 12, 20, 30 lights etc and she grows very high quality buds and usually does 2.5-3lbs per light. I’ve seen her even hit as high as 4lbs per light which is insane to me as I’m still trying to hit the 3lb/light mark. As for organic, I’ve ran a soil mix and used nectar of the gods line and it produced some very very tasty buds but the yields were just not there but my experience is limited with “organic growing”. I maybe did like 1-1.5lbs/light and it was very difficult and time consuming and tons of different bottles. I run hydro now with a pretty simple recipe and still grow very nice buds with no problems. I still like to use notg Herculean harvest liquid bone meal(rock phosphate) to flush with in hydro and I get spectacular results and it really helps the flavor. at the end of the day weather your running organic or synthetic it all has to be broken down to ionic form which the plants can absorb. Hydro/synthetic is just way faster because it’s available for the plants right now where as organic depends on microbes and benes breaking down the nutrients in your soil to make them available to your plants.

If you’re considering LEDs, check out phlizon LEDs. Their copies of the gavita 1700s and about 1/3 of the price(about $500) same led diodes and drivers. I’m setting up a big room right now with 16 of those and so far I really like them. I’d say do the 640 watt phlizon and do a 4’x4’ if you have the space Those style led lights can do 4.5’x4.5’ foot print roughly. You’ll need a decent little dehumidifier like 30-50 pint and a little r2d2 style ac unit if you wanna do it right

here’s some pics of my current grow that’s week 8 today and almost ready to flush.

Ok got it. I do have raisers for the pots too...I went with fabric. I’ll think about grabbing a seedling mat...wish I could just bring the temp up 5 degrees without it. I’m also starting to understand why some people have seedling tent, veg tent, flower tent and dry tent lol. It’s making sense.

Thanks! Yeah, I‘m realizing how much more important environment and genetics are to lights and nutrient choices. Then of course....the constant monitoring, diagnosing, adjusting (if needed) etc. throughout the grow. I went with a little 300w led bar and something called Mantis Nutrients. I’m thinking HIDs would’ve been great considering the low tempts I’m dealing with 68-75f. But I guess it could be good for the later flowering stage if they’ll make it that long. This‘ll be an interesting experiment that’s for sure.....even though I’ve only learned some of the basics so far, Its been a hell of a lot of stuff to cram in my brain lol. Its been awesome so far thanks to you guys especially MIGrampa and Growsince79. Helping a newbie out that’s this green (or lack thereof) must be annoyingly annoying lol.
