The Crystal Palace is back, now with a Spiderfarmer SE5000.

It really is full of good info! Lighting is always a touchy subject ! Lol Didn’t db say the HPS side has more wattage? Is it not a simple case of more photons shooting out on the HPS side? If the GPW is higher than it would be eye opening.

Yeah HPS side is 2000w, LED side is about 900w. Quite unbalanced but despite that, the canopy is pretty even. And realistically, the LED side is also soaking up some stray photons cast over from the other side of the room.

Did you notice any difference in plant health when you just stripped the leaves.

I've read led likes calmag and it looks like everything is being fed the same
Not really. Youre right they are all being fed from the same reservoir, but everything is looking pretty healthy on both sides of the room. No sign of Ca deficiency on the LED side that I can see.

I dont use "Calmag" ever really for any reason, although I do use about 100ppm of calcium silicate in my starting water. And I also use dyna gro Mag pro. So I am supplementing both Ca and Mg, just not from a single bottle. But I do this regardless of the light source. Plants love their Ca.
And I have a ridiculous amount of Calcium silicate on hand, I bought a 10L jug a couple years ago and its extremely concentrated, 1 TBSP will raise the ec of 50 gallons of nutrient solution by 100ppm. Its almost unbelievable how concentrated it is. The stuff is sold to golf courses and one jug treats something like half a million sqft of turf.
I must say, calcium silicate is the best Calcium source I've used to date. I didn't even know it existed until a few years ago

thanks for the calcium silicate info, i thought that ca/mg-led info was off, plants want ca/mg regardless., im just using tap water for calcium, and epsom for mag if needed.

do you recall the purchase price on that 10L jug? that's a hell of a cost effective way to supplement a vital component.

Other than the mag pro your not supplementing any mg?

holy shit, i'm not in forum jail! hahah your work last night really makes me wonder how badly i fucked up going so heavy handed the second strip
I wouldn't say you fucked up, you're just experimenting. As am I. And like I've mentioned before, my buddy strips as hard as you did every single time, and he just crushes it. So I know it can be done. I guess time will tell how well they rebound in the long run.

For me personally, the decision to not strip as hard for round 2 is based on the fact that this wedding crasher has a tendency to throw bananas when under stress. My last crop of it had a couple immature seeds in about 1 out of every 5 buds give or take. Not a big deal, but kinda annoying when your chopping up a dooby and feel that "crunch" in the scissors. So the name of the game from here out is minimal stress.

it looks so wrong and crazy to strip the plants but man, when done right they just explode with rapid growth..

well said, but i can promise you that he will never in his life time do this again 😄

Nah, the golf club paid for it 🤣, but I think it was around $100. Steal of a deal really lol. I've maybe used a liter in the last 2 years? Jug is still nearly full.
I'll try and find out the actual cost. If you phone any big ag supplier they should be able to source it for you.

hmmm... yeah that makes sense. given the genetics (allegedly) in the strain I'm working with are Chemdog D X Birthday Cake (I can't find anything about Birthday Cake on strainfinder or elsewhere) I'm wondering if we'll see some hermie expressions later down the line as well. Definitely anticipating such, but maybe the Chemdog D is strong enough in the line to keep it more resilient.

it all now comes down to harvest day.

nah, it takes me stepping in shit a few times to figure out either how to do it right or to stop doing it all together lol last night is a prime example

good point. front row ag claims to have enough Ca and Mag in the two part (increase part A for Ca, part B for Mag) but it would be nice to give just a tiny little bump to really drive the LEDs harder without locking out Ca every other week.

@tobh here is the Calcium silicate I use. It's designed for foliar application on turf and would be excellent for canna foliar too if you saw deficiencies. But it plays very well in the res too.
